This was a beautiful garden. I loved the way it was laid out and the variety of trees and flowers. There is things for kids to do to keep busy like a playground. There is a rather large pot bellied pig named Hamlet that resides there. He was fun to see. They had a lot of roses that I have not seen before. Some pretty color combinations. I loved the little bug area they had set up. They also had some pretty gazebos and pergolas. Several water features and fountains and little waterfalls to enjoy. Lots of shady areas to take a moment in. The greenhouse was chalk full of shade plants and gorgeous Orchids. They had a good collection of air-plants. They also had some succulents of the echevarria variety. Most of them were already pre potted in tiny cute pots. They had a pretty good succulent collection available. I think I would have liked to see more. The desert roses seemed a little pricey to me especially since they were cut back and no leaves or blooms really. Overall some of the prices for things seemed a little steep to me, and some seemed perfect. They had a cute store with pots and miniature garden figurines in it. There was a huge selection of clay painted pots availjn They also had a seed packet store. There was a sweet little butterfly garden. It could have been kept up with a little better, but we are just coming out of winter so I assumed that was why it was looking a little sad. There were two or three butterflies already emerging from their cocoons. Overall pretty good experience. Organized and easy to get around. The young girl that checked me out was very polite and quick with us. **I wanted to add that the Passion flower I purchased at this time has thrived and is blooming so nicely. read more

When we can't find a plant anywhere else, we go to Rockledge Gardens. The staff is knowledgeable and their new upgrades make the place fun to stroll around and explore. The only downside is the location, a fair drive from us (but maybe not you) and some of the prices are higher than average. It's a balance, you can buy from Home Depot at a discount if you know exactly what you want, or you can pay a bit more for excellent advice and a nicer shopping experience. The assortment of plants exceeds anything else in the area, this makes a big difference if you're looking for that ONE plant that would be perfect in that spot in the yard. read more

The retail garden center evolved in 1962. Rockledge Gardens' mission statement is that it is recognized as one of the largest and progressive garden centers in the state of Florida. They are constantly working to keep their atmosphere beautiful and to provide a value to their customers and what they offer to them. They strive to make the shopping experience very enjoyable. The Volkswagen convertible is symbolic of their gardening bug program. They have retired it for now and will be permanently displaying in the greenhouse. Those who sign up for their weekly e-mail mailing list are sent gardening tips and coupons. They have very unique beromelliad, bamboos, and a variety of palm trees. The gardening class' topics are as follows: 1) vegetables, 2) fruit trees, 3) making centerpieces, and 4) bonsai. The classes are held on Saturdays from 10 AM - 11 AM and are free. There will be a charge for the materials if something is made in the class. Rockledge Gardens has two managers and 22 employees. Their clientele is comprised of mostly locals. read more

We moved to Melbourne 6 years ago. Not knowing the area very well, we had to do a lot of shopping. Found Rockledge Gardens and never went anywhere else for our gardening needs. Everything is healthy, conducive to the area and comes with complete instructions if needed. We have since moved to the Champions Gate area and I am lost! I insist on driving back to Rockledge Gardens for my plants and I make a day of it. I not only make my stop at Rockledge Gardens but then have lunch with my old neighbors and hit Downtown Produce on my way. Its a great day! read more

A destination nursery with a lot of events (weddings, farmers markets, live music). Plants are a little in the expensive side but they do have 10 times the selection of anywhere else. Wonderful Rockledge Gardens. We are trying to save monarch butterflies in this area, and this morning found two caterpillars munching all the way to the roots of the few milkweed plants left. Every time I've been there, without fail, the staff has been friendly and exceptionally helpful. Recently I caught a worker in the middle of an in-house landscaping project to ask what I thought was a quick question about suitable plants for the patio. I ended up getting a full tour of multiple areas and multiple solutions. That sort of service is not unusual. I've brought in pictures of diseased plants and gotten outstanding first-aid instructions and products. There's never any pressure to buy, the staff is knowledgeable, the grounds are beautiful and I never go to any other nursery any more. They Rock! read more

What a special place. Clean and nicely laid out, I enjoyed going through each of the public buildings. Reasonably priced merchandise and loved the interesting offerings of the vendors. Only disappointment was the "farmer's market," which was sparse, some things looked rotten, and some over priced. The apple cider was fresh and very good though! read more

Rockledge Gardens is a great nursery and greenhouse. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. The owners, Theresa and Kevin Riley are the nicest people you could meet. There is also a farm across the street from the nursery. There is a really good farmers market there on Saturdays. Everything in the greenhouse is top quality, and the prices are decent. Rockledge Gardens is quirky and whimsical. I loved their herb and veggie selection which was quite affordable. They have some interesting book titles. Their pottery selection is beautiful and priced decently. Being from out of town, I don't know how it compares to the local nurseries, but we enjoyed looking around. Very nice plants and was full of bees pollinating. I went to the farmers market there and it was a bit expensive. Great place to buy plants. They have several knowledgeable staff members to help in picking out plants for certain areas They are very competitively prices as well. I thought they would be a lot more expensive than Home Depot or Lowe's but they are around the same price. I bought sixteen plants and it only cost 90 dollars. read more

We recently had our wedding at the new pavilion at Rockledge Gardens. The setting was beautiful and as natural as it gets. Our friends that attended the wedding used words like magical and enchanted to describe the setting. You cannot ask for more than that. The ceremony and reception were both held at the pavilion and went off without a hitch. There is even space for a band; we had a five-piece Bluegrass band. The kitchen area was perfect for the caterer and bartender to set up and serve our guests. After the sun set, the provided string lights transformed the area into something right out of a fairy tale. We looked at almost all of the outside venues within 50 miles; this one met all of our expectations and then some. The event coordinators, Liz and Ben, at Rockledge Gardens were super helpful and very friendly. read more

Excellent selection and help Fhh ul service

Have purchased many items at this nursery over the past few years since moving here. Usually do not have a problem with this business. Today unfortunately it was a different story. I had asked for assistance in locating palm trees that we were looking to replace. A employee was helping me and all of a sudden a couple interrupted and started asking him a price on one of the trees, even though they could clearly see he was helping me. It would have been nice if the employee said I will be glad to help you as soon as I finish up with this lady. Nope, just walked away and never acknowledged me. I decided I guess he thought my business was not worthy to waste any more time on me, so I left and went to another nursery close by where I received 1st class help. The lady was so nice and very knowledgeable and took the time to educate me on all of their palms. Needless to say I will not be returning to Rockledge Gardens any time soon. Very disappointed in their customer service at Rockledge Gardens. read more

I just called for a simple request to purchase a plant you guys have in stock (a friend just purchased some there last weekend) that I am unable to find anywhere else (not even through online sellers currently) and have it shipped a short distance within the state (not hard, I do it all the time & so do many other plant vendors & nurseries). The first person I spoke with, Sandy, sounded offended that I would even request it, "Shipping plant material?! No! I've never heard of such a thing!". Then I spoke with the owner & he said they will not even bother with it. I understand you guys not wanting to ship but the attitudes I got from Sandy & the owner were like slaps in the face. Very short & uppity with me over the phone. I am very disappointed in my first experience with this company & will never do business with them. I was thinking of making a trip to the nursery when I visit Fairchild again but never after this terrible experience. You will never get my business nor my personal recomendations. Actually, I will share with my fellow-plant junkies how rude I was treated by an employee & the owner himself. Too bad. read more
