After missing it for a couple of years, my wife and I came back and I was a bit underwhelmed. Now, it seems to be more of a food truck festival with free music, and the barbeque competition has fallen by the wayside. Whereas once you could walk through the competition area and meet the competitors, stand amazed in awe of their three-foot tall golden trophies from culinary conquests of the past, and smell the ribs from a block or two away, now the competition has all but disappeared. Also, it has morphed from a 2-day event to a 1-day event. The food trucks now are about 20% barbeque themed, with the regular fried sausage, popcorn, fried dough, pizza, etc mixed in. The craft vendors seem to be fewer in number and mostly related to jewelry (boring). The free music is still a "you get what you pay for" proposition: the first band we heard was country/blues cover band and I thought they were decent. The next band we heard was an indie-pop band and their lead singer was terribly off key. After about an hour of being there, we had eaten some food, listened to some music, and had no real reason to stay. It was hot (it always is) despite the slight rain that came and went. It is a shell of what it once was. A fun time can still be had here, but instead of calling it the "Pig Out" they should just call it a "River Festival."

Parking: They've charged anywhere from $5-10 for parking for women's basketball games, which in my opinion is way too steep, especially given that the lot is quite far away from the entrance. Concession Stand: I'm assuming the variety offered depends on the event, but I've noticed a decline in options over the past few years, which is a bummer. They do usually have nachos, candy, and a few other staples. Seating: Most of the seats here are super uncomfortable bleachers. Be sure you get one of the seats with the backs if you don't want to be totally miserable. Most annoyingly though, this place always seems to be experiencing some sort of technical issue. While hosting the America East Championship Game a few years ago, they didn't even have a working scoreboard for the game... they literally made an announcement in front of thousands of fans asking folks to "download the Great Danes app." What about older fans who don't have a smartphone? They also didn't have working shot clocks... again, this was for the Conference Championship game. They literally had to set up shot clocks in the bleachers. I honestly have never seen anything quite like it for such a high-profile game. Not sure if the blame for this sits with the venue, the conference, or what, but it was all pretty embarrassing and unacceptable. To be fair, they do now have a nice new video scoreboard that hopefully will be more reliable. Also, the SEFCU staff are generally pretty friendly. Overall, SEFCU is definitely not the best basketball venue in the America East, but it's not the worst so... I suppose that counts for something?

It's a nice looking stadium. The brick oven pizza is delicious. The vendors, staff and fans are friendly. To keep kids engaged there are contests and relay races on the field between most innings. The team hosts a lot of events to benefit community causes including food insecurity and animal shelters. There a fireworks displays periodically which are fun to watch. It's certainly worth a visit.

Staff/volunteers were very friendly and since we arrived early, there were plenty of seats available. (I had tickets for early general admission). Acoustics were pretty good; I think they could have been better if a few things had been tweaked. The main room is a flexible space that can be converted to accommodate up to 300 people. This was a smaller, intimate show and there was plenty of parking in the small lot next to the building. I'd definitely see another show here.

Now, it's a sight for sore eyes! Better sound system and LED lighting were among the upgrades. A little more seating. New seats and flooring. New wall coverings.The public was invited to check out the improvements at a free evening event. When you consider that the distinctive facility is about a half century old, the upgrades were overdue. The helpful ushers are not paid to be tour guides so I'm not sure how accurate their information was. Some ushers said the bathrooms were not renovated. The bathrooms I visited did have upgrades, but I cannot understand why the some of the original hardware including the old, chipped sanitary napkin receptacles were screwed back into the womens' bathrooms stalls. It seriously detracted from the overall appearance and seemed to be a bad penny pinching decision after so much money was spent. I can't tell you about the men's rooms. The men in our group of friends said they thought some work had been done. The Egg's unique shape was inspired by the half grapefruit that Gov. Rockefeller was eating during a planning meeting. In this day and age of large venues, it remains a more intimate setting. The Kitty Carlisle Hart theatre has a capacity of just under 1,000 seats and there's another smaller theater just below it. I was in the audience a few years ago when Pete Davidson did his stand-up act at the Egg. He complained about the small size of the venue. He added another show for same day just to make it worth his while. I came away offended by some of what he tried to pass off as humor. If performers like Davidson don't want to play the Egg again, I'm okay with that. It has great acoustics for fine artists of a whole different caliber. The Egg re-cracked open with aerial performances by Good Karma Studio and the DJ Hollyw8d. Looking forward to attending many awesome performances in this newly improved venue!
