The house was lovely (inside & out), the grounds were lovely, the food was lovely, MaryBeth is lovely, Tom is too (but you're not suppose to say that about men ) :) My husband & I stayed at Rockgirt last night while being in Canton for my high school class reunion (#35 - Class of 79). I had no idea what to expect, I just needed a place to stay, and I lost out on a room at Docs. So glad we got to stay here instead, for $15 more we had a beautiful room and wonderful breakfast. (Our room was $95+ tax - what a steal.) Check in is normally at 3pm, but they allowed us to check in early since my reunion started at 3pm. It was nice to be able to change there instead of having to drive in our good clothes and be all rumpled. You immediately feel at home, you just want to sit on one of the many couches or chairs (in all sorts of arrangements and nooks and crannies) and read. The bed was lovely and comfortable, the linens extremely nice quality. The bathroom (though shared - for this room) was very nice and I very much wanted to soak in the tub, but time did not allow. There are many lovely fireplaces, I love fireplaces even if they aren't being used :) There's even a "game" room with a pool table and lots of board games, great for families. My husband asked me before we left our house if there would be some where for him to walk in the early morning, I assured him there would be and I was right, even though you are minutes away from downtown Canton :) you are very, very much in the country when you are Rockgirt. Walk around the lovely property or down and around the road - Vandyke Rd (Minnequa Loop). And the Food - we were served Blueberry Surprise, a very nice fresh fruit cup, Strawberry Banana Juice, amazing bacon, and then were asked if we would like an egg (any way wanted it - I had mine scrambled) and also some homemade English Muffin bread. I didn't need to eat again until supper. The dining room is quite lovely - lots of dark would and 2 large beautiful tables that would each seat 8 without crowding. I love eating breakfast at B&Bs its so friendly. Also on a side note the water in the house is by nature soft - it is the same as the famous water from the Minnequa Springs, that caused the resort area to be built in the first place. So drink up. :) I really can't say enough good things about Rockgirt - but that I wish I could have stayed longer - it really is quite LOVELY! read more

My wife and I stayed at Rockgirt Bed and Breakfast on July 1st and 2nd. The setting will remind you of the lodges found in the Adirondack Mountains. Constructed in 1884, the current owners, Tom and Mary Beth Schoonover, have kept structural changes to a minimum. One feels as if they've stepped into another era. A relaxing atmosphere is all around and as you have your morning coffee, you may see a hummingbird come to feed on the many flowers found around the mansion. The view over the pond into the woods and hills beyond is spectactular and after a good night's sleep, you will be eating a wonderful full breakfast prepared by the owners. If you're looking for a place to get away from your busy daily routine and just relax in a hillside setting with great views all around, you've come to ther right place. read more

This historic well restored and maintained house on the top of a mountain is a true hidden treasure. We couldnt get over the peace of the vistas and the charm of the house and its setting. Photos do not do it justice! The hosts were warm and friendly and treated us like family. Breakfast was a gourmet presentation. Fresh baked bread, peach preserves, quiche, ham slices in a tasty sauce, a fresh fruit cup, fresh orange juice and delicious coffee! Bedrooms are spacious and beds encourage country sleep! Rock Girt is an excellent place to stay. The setting is beautifully serene. Our room was clean, cozy and comfortable. Tom and Mary Beth greeted us warmly when we arrived and cared for our every need during our stay. We definitely will go again when we are in that part of the country. read more
