Outstanding Surgeon with Exceptional Compassion…read more After a serious fall down a flight of stairs, I developed a bowel obstruction and required major abdominal surgery at Saint Anthony's Medical Center in Rockford, Illinois. Unfortunately, I had complications after the first surgery -- something that can and does happen with complex bowel cases. About ten days post-op, I knew deep down that I was not improving the way I should be. I was discouraged, exhausted, and losing hope. That all changed the morning Dr. Javeria Qureshi walked into my hospital room. From the moment she entered, she felt like a ray of hope. She took the time to review my case thoroughly, sat with me, held my hand, and reassured me that my concerns were valid. She told me plainly and compassionately that I should be feeling better -- and that she wanted to take me back to surgery to find and correct the problem. Dr. Qureshi performed exploratory surgery and did an excellent job correcting what had developed after my first operation. Her clinical judgment was spot-on, and her surgical skill made all the difference in my recovery. What sets Dr. Qureshi apart is not only that she is an excellent surgeon, but that she also has a kind, gentle bedside manner that brought me comfort during one of the hardest moments of my life. She treated me with dignity, compassion, and genuine care. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Qureshi. I would trust her completely and recommend her without hesitation

I was a single parent. Little did they know that I had to go past the room I gave birth in, which was a A207, every day. It was the result of a date assault and the baby was placed for adoption. It was very traumatic for me and every day going to work, I was reminded of what happened. They said, I was frequently late. They said I was spacing out. They said so much garbage about me behind my back. They would have a hard time concentrating too if they were in my shoes. Fast forward years later. I'm married to a wonderful man with an awesome father who grew to be like my dad. One day my father-in-law was having a stroke. We took him to the ER which was now Javon Bea hospital. I told the lady at the front desk that my father-in-law was having a stroke. She told us to take a number and sit down. Take a number? Really? An hour later, he passed out in the waiting room. The nurse came running out after I frantically went up to the window and asked me what happened. I told her that I told the girls at the window 1 hour ago we think please having a stroke and they told me to take a number and have a seat. She was very rude and acted like we some nerve complaining. My father-in-law passed away. This health system has been horrible for decades. I thought maybe it had gotten better over the years but I was wrong. Don't ever take your loved one there or work there.

I found some relief from muscle spasms that evening. Wednesday I was experiencing head aches, head congestion, could not breath thru nose. throat was swollen, painfull to swallow. Ear ache, swollen gland on same side. Daniel did 3 tests to make sure did not have strep, covid, flu, all negative. Prescribed guaiFENesin, told him I'm already taking Robitussen DM /with guaiFENesin. Prescribed oxymetaline (Afrin) I'm diabetic w/high blood pressure- can't take this. Prescribed Ibprofirin. I told him I'm Stage3 kidney disease and stayed that in my chart. He stopped and starred at me as if was made. At that point I knew he was no good and left. Went to CVS pharmacy and the pharmacist said the RobitussimDM had guaiFENesin mine was SF. The Oxymetazoline would raise my BP & BS. He recommended a saline rinse. He said no to the Ibprofirin as it was bad for my kidneys. I followed the pharmacist and was so much better by Thursday and Friday. I will never go back to the Mercy urgent care in Roscoe as they do not have a doctor. The PA Daniel never looked at my chart to know what I can take and never listened to me.

I arrived at MercyHealth's McFarland Rd. urgent care facility with an actively bleeding head injury…read morejust as the doors automatically locked. One of the staff (I believe he was a nurse) refused to let me in and told me all the doctors were gone. Apparently, I am to believe that they all just disappear at closing time, though the parking lot was full of cars. In short, patients should know that MercyHealth staff will quite literally leave a patient bleeding and untreated in their parking lot so they can go home on time. Since MercyHealth's ER was closest, I went there next. I was taken to a triage room, where I sat for over two hours after a nurse checked me in. My wound was irrigated with saline solution, topical and injection lidocaine was administered, and the wound was glued shut. Total hands-on time with nurse and doctor combined was about 10 minutes. A pile of supplies which were never used were brought into my room. I will never know if I was charged for them (probably yes). For this 10 minutes of treatment, I have been billed over $1500. Thankfully, the gross negligence on the part of their urgent care staff was free of charge. Rockford, if you need an urgent care facility, use another medical system. If you need an ER, go to OSF or Swedes. MercyHealth represents everything that is wrong with healthcare in America, and people deserve better.

I am reviewing this on behalf for my mother. When we first arrived and sat down after she checked…read morein, she was taken to the room for vitals. A nurse by the name of Brandi G did a full assessment of her. My mom who is 62 years old and retired as a nurse with knowledge of nursing, was appalled by how her nurse treated her. She came out of that room almost in tears how Brandi G the nurse was yelling at her. I was told that Brandi was very rude to her and told her "you come here too often," "you might have to sit out here 3 hours," etc just filled with rude comments. My mother confronted her and said it's not her fault that she has to come in so many times just to feel better and doesn't care if she has to sit 3 hours in the waiting room which is better than waiting for 12 hours at the Rockford Swedish American Hospital ER. Apparently Brandi also said that she would have to do a COVID-19 swab test because it is becoming rampant again. As the day went on with this visit, the doctor had a different response to this COVID-19 comment so that speculated that what she commented earlier is not true or accurate and filled with misinformation. I come here personally myself but after this experience with the hospital I will not be coming to this location again because of how rude Brandi G was to my mother. What happened to compassion for patients? What happened to empathy? What happened to care? What happened to patience? Brandi did not represent that for UW Health nor for my mother who was a patient at the time of service.
