My husband and I used online reviews, blogs, and word of mouth recommendations to find our wonderful vendors and we would like to share our experience. From our home in New York, we spent about a year planning our mid-February wedding at the Coral Gables Country Club in Miami Florida with approximately 115 guests. We hired Justin DeMutiis to be our photographer for the wedding and from start to finish he was great. Justin's effort to get to know our personal style in the beginning of the process resulted in poses we felt comfortable with, the questionnaires he had us fill out before the wedding were key in scheduling the shots we wanted, and his overall calm and helpful demeanor was appreciated amidst the stress of planning a wedding long distance. Justin primarily works in the Tampa area, but traveled to Miami for us and even helped us find other vendors with a similar aesthetic and level of professionalism. We recently received the images from our wedding and they are beautiful. Justin used both a digital and a film camera and has an talent for working with natural light that results in crisp images with great depth and tone. In setting up my family session Ariel kept in communication as my plans changed, found a beautiful…read morelocation for our photos, and made us feel comfortable and prepared before the shoot. When we arrived, Ariel was parked exactly where she said she would be and was easy to find even though we hadn't been to the location before the shoot. She was very personable, calling us by our names (no "hey you"). Ariel encouraged us to be natural, giving direction on what to do and helping us get into better positions without being rude or negative. For example, she asked me to bring my face closer to my sons by leaning my head toward the camera and not mentioning the fact that otherwise I would look like I have a double chin. High EQ (she's conscious of others' feelings). We have a young son and she was so patient and understanding of his needs (like being changed and fed during the shoot to pacify his fussiness). She took advantage of those moments to capture photos of him and plan out our next shots. Waiting for images after the shoot was the hardest part. Her turn around was two weeks and I felt like a bride anxiously anticipating them in the mail every day. I was led on even more by a post of two photos to Facebook, which were darling! As promised, she sent the disc two weeks after our shoot. When the package arrived I was floored! I don't want to spoil her surprises, but I will say she goes above just getting you some images on a disc or drive.

I just had pictures taken of my son for his one year birthday and these are the worst photos I have…read moreever had taken by a photographer. I can honestly take better pictures with my camera phone. Some of them are so bad, I thought, "Why wouldn't she delete that instead of showing me that picture?" First of all, the photographer was a joke, she had the warmth of an ice block and did not engage with my son at all. He was just waking up from his nap and is generally a very happy baby. This is not my first child, but my fourth and he is the friendliest by far. In 20 years of photo sessions of my children, I have never dealt with a photographer who offered absolutely nothing to the session. She started out by just going with the white background, did not ask me about any other backgrounds or props. She did not even try to capture smiles or talk to him at all. I did all of the work when he did smile and she was not quick enough to even catch the good ones. She should've been embarrassed by those photos and offered to retake them at the very least. Below, I'm listing what happened during my session in comparison to the picture people website - "observe a session" http://www.picturepeople.com/portrait-scheduling/prepare-for-your-visit/observe-a-session : "our highly trained photographer gets to work" - I don't think so! She appeared to have little to no training. "inspiring backdrops" - she would've taken all the pictures with the white background if I hadn't interrupted her and asked for something else. She didn't offer anything at all. "we try to find out what makes your family unique" - she did not try to find out anything about him, she barely spoke to him. "a discerning eye to capture the truest, most genuine expressions possible" -in two of the pictures his eyes are partially closed like a drunk, she did not try to stage any scenes nor capture him well naturally; several pictures have his hands or a prop too close to his face or looking in the wrong direction. "we'll help you edit, crop images and add sepia tone, vignettes, color accents, decorative borders and many other impactful digital enhancements" - I wasn't offered any enhancements. I asked her to show me some when I saw she hadn't done it like my other sessions have in the past. AND I'm a portrait club member so I get two free so I expected her to sample something but she did not. I wound up purchasing only one picture because they were awful and her persona was lackluster to say the least. If I weren't a portrait club member, I would NEVER take pictures with this company again. Needless to say, I definitely will not return to this location. Out of 18 photos, the best one with him smiling is BLURRY! Great job if you are trying to tell me to take my money elsewhere. One would think that if you setup a photo studio in a baby store that you would hire people who enjoy taking photos of, BABIES, and do them well. I am beyond disappointed. My advice is AVOID photographer - Christina L. W11588.
