My sons (ferrets) have been under the care of Cheryl Caparelli for nearly ten years. She is the most compassionate, resourceful, and reasonably priced exotics vet I have ever had. Dr. C and her staff watched me turn myself out with grief when I had to put one of my ferret babies down, due to an accident. I was hysterical and collapsed when she had to put his to sleep. It was complete chaos coursing through me. Dr. Caparelli not only loved on my boy that was passing while she did it, but afterwards she stayed with me until my husband could get there (he was an hour and a half away) to take me home, comforting me and telling me over and over until she was sure I wasn't going to make what happened (the accident) my fault. While comforting me she even washed the blood of my boy off my face. How many people would do that? I needed her that day for me and my ferret and she was there. I survived that horrible day, but I survived because of Dr. Caparelli. My Peeka has significant allergies that lead to frequent ear infections. So I see them 2-5 times a year and never have a complaint. Dr Harris always call and follow up. I was trying out a new vet on a whim. I just didn't hit it off with this vet practice. It was nice enough but very small. The vet was knowledgeable and treated my pup for ear mites. Seemed on the expensive side for a basic exam and treatment for the mites. The place is really out of the way for me too. They were 15 minutes late seeing me and my pup which seemed off being that I was the only one in the small office. I did not take my pup back to this vet and chose to go somewhere else. read more

Love this place. The prices might be a little higher than other vets for the same services, but the quality is unmatched. I have not had any wait in the three times I have been there. Fairly quick to schedule emergency visits, too. The veterinarians take plenty of time with you to answer any and all questions. They teach you how to perform any suggested at-home care, even something as simple as brushing a pet's teeth. All in all, I trust Dr. Harris and the vets at this practice more than any other in the area. They are wonderful, and the clinic is in a very lovely area. read more

Yesterday, I took my 8 year old bichon in to Rockacres because of, what I feared, were serious stomach issues. Dr Harris saw my girl, did some bloodwork and xrays, and told me she didn't have the capabilities to do a (needed) ultrasound. She called another animal hospital for me, and they were waiting for us when we got there. Unfortunately, the prognosis was bad, and I made the decision to have her put to sleep. Point is, Rockacres has taken care of all of my critters (cats, dogs, hamsters, guinea pigs)for 20 years, & never once did I ever feel that any of the vets treated any of them as "less than" because of what they were/are, or, did I ever feel like that gave me bad info. They have always accepted and admitted their limitations (THAT is amazing unto itself...I've had experiences where vets have done tests/procedures to run up the bill, I believe) At any rate, I will always love and appreciate THE ENTIRE STAFF for ALL of the care they have given my critters over the years. I love them all, and more importantly, my pets love them. There are definitely vets much closer to where I live, but none as CARING as these ladies. read more

I took my pet mouse, Fidget, to this place because he appeared to have hurt his leg. He wasn't walking on it, moving it, and there was a lump above said leg. When I got there, Dr. Capparelli took him inside to see what was wrong. (By this time Fidget was walking around his makeshift carrier, but the lump was still there.) When she came back, she told me that his leg seemed fine, that if it was injured its not anymore, and told me the lump is wither a cist or tumor. I was told I could get anti- inflammatory pain medicine for him to try and help the swelling, and that since they didn't need to put a cast on him or anything, the cost of the general check-up would be half-off. What would've been a ~$78 vet bill ended up being $46. I even received a call from Dr. Capparelli a few days after the visit to check on how Fidget was doing. Due to the generosity and caringness I recieved, I see no reason to dock stars. 10/10 would come back. read more

Since moving to the area, this is the closest vet for my two fur babies, and I'm pretty happy with the choice. Not only is the staff very friendly, but they clearly love animals. I rarely have much more than a 5-10 minute wait and often am brought in earlier than my appointment time. The vet gave me her cell number in case of emergencies, which we fortunately never have, and they are extremely attentive during any appointments. Slightly on the pricey side compared to other vets, and I admittedly will take my dogs up north to my old vet for a teeth cleaning to save a few bucks, but for everything else, I'd say it's on par and worth it. read more

Amazing vets, every single one of them. Not only is the property beautiful, the facilities totally up to date, but it's a lovely and warm environment. I was so happy as I stepped out of the car to see this place - I knew it was a wonderful gem. We've received fantastic care for dogs and cats. They clearly love what they do, and love the animals that they see. I felt like we were right away part of a team to help give my pets the best care. Very individualized attention. After our first appointment they even wrote a handwritten card about how happy they were to get to know my pets. You don't get this kind of attention anymore. I am so grateful to Rock Acres and Dr. Capparelli. They were able to get me in right away when our poor ferret was sick. I was immediately at peace when I drove up to Rock Acres, it's atmosphere inside and out was amazing. Everyone was calm, helpful and kind... even the other people there with their pets. Cheri brought me back to check out Gilbert and immediately did x-rays on him. She was so gentle when she informed me of the news that I would need to head to Cornell because he would need immediate surgery. She helped relax me by telling me she would call ahead to let them know I was on my way and the office staff burned me a CD to bring with me so Gilbert would not have to go through them again. Unfortunately Gilbert had complications after his surgery and passed, but had it not been for Rock Acres taking me in on a Saturday (even though they are not our regular vet), I may not have felt like I did everything I could to help try to keep him alive. The veterinarian Cheri Capparelli was a complete incompetent. She misdiagnosed our pet numerous times and her misdiagnosing led us to have to go to specialists twice to clean up her incompetence. If she had known what she was doing, a specialist would not have had to clean up her negligent decision making which made our pet extremely and dangerously sick. She went to vet school out of the country because she couldn't get into one in the USA and that should tell you something right there. While a client, we described our pet's all of a sudden appearing symptoms by phone and said we were very worried. She said what we were describing was medically impossible and our pet almost died because she said not to worry about it. STAY AWAY. read more
