My emotionally and physically exhausted daughter waiting for hours in a cold small chair
    Amy M.

Do NOT bring your child to this facility. Very short staffed and the staff that we encountered, Shelly, Gina, and Michael fed us lies about the time we would be received, although my daughter had an incident and had just been brought by stretcher to this facility after her ER hold at BSW, bc they're within network and we were scrambling; we called rock springs to have her seen and potentially admitted hours in advance so that her transition would be as smooth as possible: hours in advance! by the time she arrived by stretcher they brought us to a dirty small room and ended up waited over 3 hours in a cold small room w one chair for our very precious daughter that needed rest immediately: they kept telling us 30 more minutes, 30 more minutes. After a full grown man in handcuffs was brought in and taken back and the screams we were hearing, my husband and I decided we had changed our mind and wanted to get her home and try for another place in the morning: our gut told us to get our daughter out of there: we politely said we are leaving and to please unlock the doors so we could leave: Michael, who could barely speak English indeed told us her room was ready don't leave they needed 5 more minutes: yeah right lol we left with our daughter and placed her in our bed at home where she slept next to me all night: the next morning we took her to dell children's where she will be staying regardless of the cost, I would never have taken her to rock springs in the first place if I had read these heartbreaking scary reviews before hand, but we were in a bit of a state of panic and they were within network and close to our home. Gina the red hair dyed nurse NEVER Came to look at our daughter or even made eye contact although she walked past 3 or 4 times. her presence had a very stuck up, sassy, selfish and rude aura. Michael, might be new to the United States from Nigeria, i can't really tell by his heavy accent, and is definitely new to the facility, as he seemed to have no clue what was going on: Shelly the supervisor of intake I can only assume, although she seemed over worked and exhausted handed us paperwork that was nearly 5 years old, saying that her schedule would be "kinda like this" like what? Seriously? These are children's lives we are talking about here: get up to date; clean your facility; hire people who want to be in the field, and be professional: that's not asking a lot: to make matters worse. These fools called CPS on my husband and said we were denying our daughter the care she needed: so on top of the stressors of our daughters suicide attempt we had to deal with a CPS investigation during our already time of crisis. CPS without our knowledge then pulled our 11 yr old son from school the next day to ask questions and was thankfully unable to reach our other middle daughter that same day. The CPS worker then came to the current hospital, DELL Children's to speak with our troubled daughter who is not feeling her best, prodded more nosey nonsense questions and had to ask her another round of exhausting questions: thankfully Elizabeth, the very bright enthusiastic CPS agent we were placed with opened up and even thought it was ridiculous and told us herself she has heard TERRIBLE stories about Rock Springs and told us she doesn't blame us one bit for scooping our daughter up and getting her the hell out of that place: the CPS case thankfully will be open and shut. God was with us that night and always, and we trusted our parental guts and instincts. I decided to write this negative yelp; the first I have ever written in my life, bc | feel w every ounce in me that if you're a mother or father who was in our position, scared and confused and in a whirlwind of being blindsided by teen depression and suicide, to know this at the very least: Do NOT take your child to ROCK SPRINGS : just don't: I hope soon Rock springs can hire better nurses who aren't self obsessed and uncaring in the least other than with her caked on makeup, fake lashes, nails and hair dye and crappy attitude to boot.. I hope they better screen their staff to hire better individuals who weren't as rude as Michael and who weren't as overworked and exhausted as Shelly, the only one who did make an attempt, God was with us that night and always, and we trusted our parental guts and instincts. My first review of Julie D. Lee, LCSW was posted 1/9/19 so it's time for an update…read more I originally found my way to Julie a few years after severe and permanent injuries caused me to lose my health and career, which put enormous strains on my personal relationships. I wasn't sure I would survive at all, much less figure out how to make sense of the predicament. Prior to the catastrophe I defined my worth as a human being, my actual right to live and breathe, through work and the ability to provide for my family. That's generally a good thing, right? Workaholism is complicated. That issue alone can cause serious problems if it gets away from you. In my case, it blew up in my face when I became bedridden and unable to perform even the most basic functions, dressing and feeding myself, bathing... It took many years of excruciating effort, surgical interventions, daily physical therapy, pain management, etc., to regain a life worth living. Part of that process was accepting the fact that my injuries were permanent and I would never be the person I was before. As it turned out, I also lost a parts of me that had been causing harm to my loved ones for decades... workaholism and all the nasty little traits that were hammered into my personality in childhood. Long story short, I was raised in an extremely violent home by whackadoo parents. In the small West Texas farming community in which I was raised during the 60's and 70's, it was perfectly normal for adults in schools, churches, etc., to ignore obvious signs of child abuse. The overlapping bruises and open wounds on my back, arms, legs, and torso rarely had time to heal before more were added. My brothers and I were manipulated into fighting one another like cats and dogs and to wage emotional warfare. It seemed there was no escape from the cycle of epic violence. I followed a stereotypical path through the criminal justice system in my teens, left home at 15 years old, and became a business owner just before my 20th birthday. I became a lifelong business owner and high producer...never looked back and thought I "had it all figured out." News flash: I did not have it all figured out. I would not be alive today if I hadn't reached out for help -- not just from surgeons and such, but also those wonderful people in the behavioral health specialties -- psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers. Each played a roll in the seemingly impossible task of essentially un-hammering my mind and guiding me back to a life worth living. This is where Julie comes into the picture. My wife and I rely on her for couples counseling and we are both happier for it. Julie does an outstanding job untangling communication issues and helping us see and understand underlying issues that cause stress and confusion. My wife and I also rely on individual counseling with Julie to focus on issues more specific to our own life experiences and to better understand really...everything. I still don't "have it all figured out." But I do know this: Before the injuries that broke my body down and left me a basket case, the things that I thought were most important in life, and the tools I used work my way through it, were partly correct but also intolerably self defeating. And worse, I was inadvertently hurtful to those I cared about the most. Those are tough lessons for an old billy goat like me. But I am a better person for it and I can very clearly see how much happier my life is now. So thank you Julie Lee. Thank you for going above and beyond.

After 27 minutes of my session, I politely walked out. During that time I was barely able to speak, Ms Hyer went on about her child's medical issues. I was never asked "what's bothering you", or "what are your struggles", it was just a constant monolog of her speaking about her child's issues, and trying to align my issue with her child's. I left knwing far more about her childs issues that Ms Hyer knows about mine. At one point she suggested I speak with my MD about trying a medication her child is on. I see a Neuromuscular Specialist who is very knowledgeable about my Myasthenia Gravis, I did not come to Thriveworks for Medical Advice. By the time I returned to my home, I could see the bill generated for the session was $395. It clearly states on the website that the initial consultation is $200 and follow ups are $170. Either is far too much for a 27 minute session to hear about her childs issues.
