I was in a wedding last year where the bride had her dress made with Karen. The dress was amazing,…read moreand so different to anything we had seen in the shops. My friend knew exactly what she wanted, and that was basically a combination of six different dresses. Karen was wonderful. She sat down initially with my friend to go over exactly what she wanted, and she seemed to get it. She drew a sketch, and it pretty much encompassed everything she was after. In the lead up to the wedding she had several fittings, and the dress was finished two weeks before the wedding. It fit perfectly, and looked amazing. The price range is on the more expensive side, but really you pay for what you get.

(Armadale Shop - High Street) The pro's: no booking; beautiful dresses; lovely dressmakers The con's: communication (I wasn't told to bring someone to my 2nd fitting and while this may seem intuitive, it wasn't to me); when I asked to try on the dress when I picked it up (with a 2nd person), they wanted to charge me an additional $100 for an hour with the dress maker since only the dress makers can touch the dresses; they tried to overcharge me (double!) for a custom lace hair clip. Luckily the dressmaker double checked); general arrogance of the sales people . In the end I'm really happy with my dress, but when you are spending that much money, I expect far better service.

I would give a Zero if it was possible. D'Italia is completely unethical in their business…read morepractice. - I would REALLY reconsider if you are thinking of choosing this company. Sharing my experience with d'Italia Couture, because I wish someone had shared theirs with me. I engaged d'Italia for a custom wedding outfit and paid close to $1,000 for what was presented as a full design and dressmaking process. Jenna recommended a dressmaker from their network (Jo), and I attended one appointment in August where measurements were taken. After that appointment, there was no communication, no fittings, no timelines, and no progress for months. In November, Jenna herself called me to ask how things were going. When I explained that I hadn't heard anything since August, she then disclosed that there had been complaints about the dressmaker's reliability and ability to complete work on time. She suggested changing dressmakers because of these concerns. This is important: - Jenna was the one who raised the concerns - Jenna was the one who suggested changing dressmakers - At no point did she say the replacement had to be within their network - At no point did she say changing would affect my payment Given that the trust was already broken by concerns raised by d'Italia themselves, my partner and I decided it was not sensible to continue with the originally recommended dressmaker and moved forward with someone else. Only after this did d'Italia refuse a refund, claiming the initial payment covered "design consultation, design development, fabric sourcing, and cutting of fabrics.". For which I received no dress, no fittings, no construction, and no tangible outcome. Their website promotes an "obligation-free consultation" and a full custom journey. What I experienced was one meeting, months of silence, internal issues disclosed late, and then being told I was out of pocket because the dress maker THEY referred me to was unable to complete the project and had multiple complaints made from other brides. I am now months out from my wedding, funding an entirely new outfit, and absorbing a financial loss for a service that did not eventuate and for a 'Custom Dress' that had never even been started. This experience has been incredibly stressful and deeply disappointing.

I would not recommend this business to anyone…read more The sales assistant Shuchi (who claims to be the owner of the business) has refused to reimburse me close to $3,000 that was paid for fabrics on my initial visit to the store. I changed my mind due to being uncomfortable with the way the transaction was handled so quickly and without any explanation. I spoke to a genuine bridal couture dressmaker who advised of best practice including sitting down directly with the dressmaker and working out the exact design and sketching the pattern of the gown before then ordering fabrics to suit the look and this ensures there is enough fabric to create what is in mind. I want to reiterate that D'Italia only provide fabric to their customers. They do not make or design the gowns themselves. They also do not tell you that if the dressmaker does not meet your standards or create what's promised that it's not the stores problem. The terms of business were not explained to me in any way. I was also not shown any wedding gowns made by their recommended dressmaker for me. I was unaware that I was having to pay for the full fabric cost upfront and was not advised of the ETA of this either as well as most importantly not being advised of their no change of mind policy. I was not provided with a calculation cost sheet or formal quote, I was not informed I would be paying for the full cost of the fabric on the day until after the funds had been processed. I felt uncomfortable as I left the store - thinking back as to how the sale was made and how I felt I had been deceived. Due to this, I cancelled my order within 6 hours of paying the deposit on a Saturday night and D'Italia have advised the material overseas has already been cut by the supplier. (within 6 hours of purchase) I followed up with this cancellation request the following day as soon as the store opened. I followed up again and again (my calls were not returned) and did not receive a refusal to reimburse the amount from Shuchi until Wednesday 30-1-19 I have asked for a refund - Shuchi has refused to reimburse me. I was then advised that my materials would not be arriving until early April which would also not allow a dressmaker of MY choice enough time to make. D'italia will not allow me to discuss this matter with the owner Suzanna Zagon, instead advising me that the staff member Shuchi at the Malvern Vic store is the owner of this business. I'm sure the owner of the business would discuss this with me more maturely than her staff have. I'm sure she would understand my situation and for the sake of good will I'm sure she would reimburse the amount in full. At this stage I will not be getting married in my dream wedding gown as planned in July 2019. Definitely not worth the stress or risk before the big day!
