At 1:15 am on Jan 4, our smoke detectors started schreeching. Boy what a way to wake up. My wife grabbed a blanket and wrapped it around herself while she started calling our dog, Lucy. She came to my wife and was put into the back yard. I turned on the light on my nightstand and started looking for smoke and fire. My first thought was the christmas tree but that was ok. No smoke-no fire. I grabbed a blanket and started fanning the smoke alarm while my wife did the same in the bed room. They shut off after about 45 seconds. We searched the house and unplugged everything.
The alarms started again. Back to the blanket thing. On the third time, I called 911 and the operator said help is on the way. Less than 5 minutes and the fire truck and crew were at our home. They searched inside, outside, and under the house with a heat imagining device. No hot spots, thankfully.
We discussed new batteries for the alarms when I heard one of the firemen asking my wife if she was alright because she was having an asthma flare up and needed a shot of albuteral. Two of them stayed by her side to make sure she was ok.
What nice people the firemen are. We are sooo lucky to have them in our community and ready to assist in any way they can. WELL DONE! read more
