This review is more than overdue! I hired Rochelle back in 2009. She will put on a good show for you until you sign the contract and pay her the($5000) retainer. I had to go to her office and drop a few things by and still nothing was done on my case. Until 48 hours before the first court day. At court she presented me with the first bill. My retainer was gone and I owed her$ 800 more.She was able to rack up a bill for $5800 in 48 hours. It was technically not possible. But sure enough, here was the Bill. Before we went into the court room, she noticed that some information in the papers were filled out by her office staff incorrectly. She called her office to let them know that that was not the correct way of doing it. And believe it or not, I was charged for that phonecall in my next Bill. (That is her hourly rate plus her hourly rate for the phone call.) She was less than professional inside the court room.She did not address the court in a proper manner. The judge had to put her back into her place. I was more than embarrassed for HER. After 4 weeks we were at $18000 and she and her team had not accomplished anything. I could not proof it but I felt that she overcharged and double charged me on a lot of things. She always said that it got more expensive because the other party got a lawyer.... After that, I fired her and got myself a different lawyer that got everything done in a year and within a budget. Do not go there! Do not waste your money! How do I give 0 stars? Because that's what she deserves. This lady is the rudest person I've ever come in contact with. We had an appointment for a consult at 10am. I brought my cousin for moral support. We get there early. The receptionist was super nice. She called back to this woman. Said it would be a few mins. Ok cool. So we wait. It was like 10 mins This lady comes out, you remember Snow White the cartoon, well the evil witch at the door with the apple? Yup. This is her twin. She came out wearing all black. Her hair was all over the place. She looked frazzled. She apologized for taking so long. Introduced herself. Told us to follow her. We follow her into a conference room. That's where is began We sat facing her. My cousin to the right of me, and I had my baby in my lap and she went and sat across from me. She went in right away and told my cousin to sit back and relax. Um, what? I'm sure we can sit the way we want. Then she started talking super fast and all this stuff. She was very rude and never let us speak. She talked over us. Then she proceeds to say some court stuff. Then asked if I completed high school. I said no. Ged? No. She went on about how she helped someone who was in a bad custody battle divorce. Helped her get her ged etc. Now she's married and is a nurse. Ok. What does that have to do with me? Then goes on and on and on about how I need to do the same. Get my ged and see a therapist. Ok. 1st off, wtf?! Who are you to tell me what to do?? 2nd, what in the hell does that have to do with my CUSTODY battle? What in the world?! This lady was so rude. She literally attacked me when I'm already at my low point. Why do I need my ged when I have a great job? What does that have to do with me taking care of my daughter 100% of the time? She made it seem like that's the only thing I need to do. She barely spoke about my case or how much she'd charge. I told her I didn't want to talk about it anymore and she pressed on. And on I felt like I was verbally attacked. Like which professional person does such a thing? You don't know what I'm going through and to basically accuse me of being stupid for getting with the father of my kid and not finishing high school is not ok. Not ok. Ms. Rand and her firm represented me in a very bitter and acrimonious divorce proceeding which lasted over two years due to my former wife failing to appear in court, violating restraining orders, leaving our children unsupervised, appointment of an elisor for the sale of the residence, misappropriating and/or selling items from our residence without my consent, even failing to file tax returns (though she was a tax preparer), failing to care for our animals, as well as numerous other issues. I commend Ms. Rand's firm for their diligence and perseverance in working with me. They worked around my work schedule, having her staff available from 8:00 p.m, through to the early hours of the next day, or on weekends, to deal with emergencies that arose. I paid close to $20,000 after a year or so I had to fire her and found a new attorney and accomplished what I needed in 1 MONTH for just a few thousand. she is really good at asking for money but doesn't follow trough. Rochelle Rand began my divorce on August 2017 it is now March of 2020 and Im still not divorced. She said she could not represent me since she did work for my ex in the past but that she would charge me just to fill out the paperwork. After almost a year she finished the stip to file later to know that the court said we didn't file the correct material. Unto today all the promises she made and the work I paid her for never got done. What a waste of my time and money. for months I requested itemized receipts but she never sent them and now has recently requested 18,000 from me which is a joke but still no receipts! Prior to this she has explained to me that she may be filing for bankruptcy due to her not getting enough business so please be aware that she is in need of money and will say and do whatever she can to get into your wallet. She is also a mess, her hair is always crazy and her attitude is rather embarrassing. If you are looking for a professional attorney go elsewhere, Rand is def not professional!!! This is NOT a good attorney. She messed around with my divorce and racked up thousands of dollars never accomplishing anything and constantly cancelld court appearances and sitdown remediation meetings and such with my ex's attorney. I finally ditched her and got a real attorney that accomplished in four weeks (for less than the retainer I had to pay her at our first meeting) what she could not and did not accomplish in 6 months. How many times has she been sanctioned by the bar association? At least once and I heard that she was so bad they made her work under the guidance of another attorney for months. Watch out. Rochelle will promise to help but will not follow-through. She will pretend to be a friend but will overcharge. She will promise to keep costs down but your bill will suddenly double.
