After 3 days of preparing the areas to apply sod, we had 2 pallets of sod delivered at a total cost of $597.18 and it was all brown, looked dead. I asked the delivery person if this was floratam grass and he assured me it was that it would come to life once the soil warmed up. The sod was placed and watered per instructions and took about 4-5 weeks to start to green. What has greened is 80 + % crabgrass and a lot of Bermuda grass mixed in. We notified Turfco that we were not pleased with the sod and pictures were sent to Rhonda. She was also told that they were welcome to see for themselves the results of their so called floratam sod . She was told that this was not what we had ordered - crabgrass, Bermuda and very little floratam. We asked for the sod 750 sf to be replaced, as we were unwilling to deal with invasive crabgrass and Bermuda. Rhonda stated the offer from the owner was to give us a bag of fertilizer as if this would correct the problem. We said NO to the offer and asked to speak to the owner. Four business days have passed and we have yet to hear from him. So much for quality turfgrass and quality relationships. Since it is a lot of work to remove and replace the sod for a second time, we are contracting a landscaper to do the job and to purchase the sod from another company at a cost of $1500. We are glad that this occurred on our DIY project, as we have an upcoming large project that will require approximated 20 pallets of sod and would have been even more disastrous.
