He assured us that our own container would be placed outside our house and our furniture would be packed straight into it and not moved again till it was unpacked in Houston. On the day of the move a truck arrived with 2 guys. I asked where the container was and was told it wasn't coming because it was broken and they were waiting for a part. I phoned Matthew Ferrari who stated that he "meant" to call me. I told him that the reason we went with them was so there would be no "double"moving of the furniture as there is more chance of damage. He told me that when it was packed into our own container at his facility he would email a photograph of our stuff in the container. That never happened. On arrival in Houston numerous items were broken due to the way they were packed. I expect some breakages, but when sentimental items are broken due to negligence, IE antique marble chess pieces all wrapped together in paper causing 6 pieces to break, it's upsetting. Packing tape was placed straight on to furniture so when unwrapped it peeled the paint and laminate from some pieces. We were insured but didn't get the full value of the broken items. It's funny when you point out expensive items to the removalists and then find at the other end that they are not packed properly, and your cheap items are wrapped like the crown jewels. We are now all unpacked and in our house in Houston. As the weeks go by we are discovering things missing. I find it odd that all the boxes on the invoice list were accounted for on arrival but things were missing from the boxes. After the above we would not use them again.

Earlier this week I booked a removalist on Gumtree. The price sounded too good to be true and…read moremoving house for us was already proving a costly exercise. We were under pressure to coordinate the move particularly given the settlement dates and time frame. On the morning of our planned move, the removalist we had booked did not turn up. I left voicemails sent texts and tried calling numerous times - nothing..... A friend suggested I tried Ready Movers as they had recently had a good experience using them. I rang at 8am in the morning and the staff were most helpful is trying to help us out at the last minute. By 11am the huge truck arrived along with Matt and Jordan who worked very hard to get the job done in quick time. They were very careful with our items and used adequate protective rugs to secure our household goods. It was amazing to say how professional and hard work both Matt and Jordan were. They really saved the day and I am very grateful for their efforts. I cannot recommend their services strongly enough. My dealing with Ready Movers was a very positive experience in what was a very stressful day.

Given our requirements there was ample opportunity for something to go wrong along the way and I would not have been surprised at all if it did. I am very very happy to report that it was the most seamless move I have ever had (and I have moved a lot,interstate, internationally and around the block). The team were so courteous, professional and at all times all over the details. Everyone we dealt with from the lovely girls in the main office, the staff at the storage facility in Melbourne and the drivers at both ends were fantastic and a credit to their employers.
