I am the founder of a 501c3 nonprofit in Rhode Island and do not take a salary, but declare a lot of itemizations. This was new to her, she embraced the challenge and i was thrilled with the outcome. A simple 2023 Tax return 1040SR was completely screwed up from start to finish. There were…read moremultiple phone calls made for mom's tax returns which were initially done by a "Senior Preparer" (name omitted to be nice) in late March. Upon submitting the taxes, their system supposedly froze and the submission to the FED and CT State Revenue Office did not go through. The response was to wait and our IT department will figure it out. For two full weeks, checking every other day, no resolution was reached, the taxes were in limbo and no one in my family could receive a physical copy to put in the mail. Ridiculous, waste of time, arrogant employees speaking down to a client and failure for anyone is this office to manage preparers or their crappy systems. Fast forward to April 13th - I needed to go to the office again to pay for the services and then go back on April 15th to pick up a copy of the taxes. WTF? Incompetent, failure to take a cc over the phone and the kicker - a charge of $374 for simple services! What? A simple 1040SR for an elderly tax payer on limited income. Never have I experienced such incompetent and unprofessional staff for a service which was almost not delivered. Huge consequences for my conscientious, law abiding mom. Avoid this debacle at all cost... use TurboTax or some other SaaS tax preparing service. No aggravation, no mileage and time lost, no stress, headaches or belligerent employees to deal with repeatedly. Complete dolts at this location.

I called the number and spoke to a person who said I would be called on Dec 2 at 9 AM by someone who could help me. The person never called. This company is so stupid. First a senior tax advisor gives me bad tax advice resulting in me having to pay the IRS $1000 as an underpayment penalty, then they refuse to reimburse me, then they fuck up again and blow me off when I try to get help. Does anyone have any brains at this company? I think an untrained chimpanzee could handle this situation better. My next step is to 1) contact the Consumer Complaint center at NBC Connecticut and 2) post a message on Nextdoor.com so my neighbors in my town can understand this company and how they mistreat people.
