I trust Dr. Steer immensely and would highly recommend him. It's his incredible wealth of knowledge, skill, patience and comforting personality that sets him apart and I wouldn't trust any other life experience without him. I've been with him for all three of my pregnancies and for each one I was thankful to have him by my side. For my first pregnancy, my daughter ended up stuck during labor and since I told him my birth plan was to have a vaginal birth, he made every attempt in making that happen. He was incredibly patient and made swift movements to make sure she and I were safe. Ultimately we had to use forceps and just a few hours after her birth, the other doctors and pediatricians in the hospital were in shock that she didn't have a mark or indication of being birthed through forceps. For my third pregnancy, in what seemed like a quick labor ended up being a 16 hour day. He stayed with me every step, checking on me very frequently, and I felt calm and reassured we'd be ok knowing he was there with me. My son ended up having the umbilical cord around his neck but Dr. Steer calmly and swiftly made magic happen by having him born safely through another vaginal birth. Sadly, my second pregnancy ended in a miscarriage and needed a D&C. To make matters worse, it was during Covid when I wasn't allowed anyone to accompany me. Dr. Steer was a comforting face through a dark time and reassured me all would be ok then and in all future pregnancies. I've often joked with him that I wasn't sure how he could have other patients because he makes me feel like I'm the only one he's focusing on. Through long labors, deliveries, and recoveries, not to mention my pregnancy appointments, I don't think my body let him sleep or eat! Yet if you speak with him or his wonderful staff, you'll always hear how he just delivered multiple pregnancies! He always put me, my health, and my babies before himself. Choosing Dr. Steer as my OB was the best decision I made for my pregnancy. I truly enjoyed my prenatal journey and the birth of my son more than I ever imagined I could. In his care I felt supported, safe and informed. As a first time mom, I had so many questions at each visit that he gladly took the time to answer for me. Donna at the office was fantastic and always available when needed. My prenatal visits were all great but where Dr. Steer really shines is at your delivery. I had the most beautiful birth recently and for someone who was terrified of delivery - Dr. Steer made it the best night of my life. I would recommend him a million times if I could. Cannot say enough good things about Dr. Steer. He has excellent bedside manner, listens closely to the wishes of the patient, and ends every appointment by warmly and genuinely asking, "What else can I do to help you?" which is such a comfort. After delivering hundreds of babies, you would think someone would develop a lackluster approach, but this is certainly not the case. Dr. Steer expressed enthusiasm every time we saw my little baby on the monitor screen. He made my first pregnancy so special. The receptionist Sandra is a delight. I truly enjoyed the intimacy of working with one receptionist and one doctor. The office is cheery and Sandra is always welcoming, organized, and professional. This is a long review-but I want to explain the background of how I picked an OB/GYN and my experience with Dr. Robert Steer of Morristown. When I was looking for an OB after I got married, a young mom gave me great advice. She said "Go find a male Obstetrician." Her reasoning and experience had shown her that all the female doctors she had seen were less sympathetic to her (in her opinion because we all have to deal with the same issues & we've all been through it) but the male doctors she had seen were much more understanding and supportive because they will never be able to physically experience pregnancy and are much more sympathetic. Armed with that perspective, I did a web search for "Best OBGYN in Morristown" and Dr. Steer's name came up a number of times. I liked that it wasn't a huge practice-just him, and what solidified it for me was a review by former professional football player Tiki Barber and his wife. I figured that those guys don't just go to ANY doctor, they are usually sent to the best, so I made an appointment for my new patient visit, and have been blown away by how amazing Dr. Steer is. I had my first child at 35 and my second at 40. Throughout each awful pregnancy and subsequent visits and pap smears, I can confidently say that this is the ONLY OBGYN I would ever go to. He is non-judgmental, matter-of-fact and compassionate. When a serious issue came up towards the very end of my first pregnancy, he explained the risks involved and I chose to have a c-section delivery. I was terrified because of the stories you read and the negativity associated with cesarean births, but Dr. Steer made it the easiest, most effortless and natural experience I could ever hope for. In fact, it was so great that I was determined to NOT have a VBAC for my second child and was proud to deliver through a 2nd cesarian. Reflecting on these experiences, I honestly shudder to think of allowing any other doctor to deliver my babies. Dr. Steer has delivered both of my kids. The fact that I had no doubt coming back to him for my second should be evidence enough that we Love him! Here are some key things we loved about Dr. Steer and Sandra. 1) they treat you like family. Every time Sandra answered the phone I felt like I was talking to a friend. And Dr. Steer always asks about my kid(s) and husband like an old friend! 2) after every appointment, Dr. Steer sits down with you, goes over key information, and gives you the opportunity to ask questions. I have asked him some dumb questions (especially during my first pregnancy) and never once did he make me feel anything less than 100% confident in asking whatever I pleased. 3) comfort first. I have gotten so much varying advice on pain killers or epidurals etc. What I love about Dr. Steer is he always emphasizes mom's safety and happiness. I'm not sure why I was always hesitant when it came to epidurals but with Dr. Steer's reassurance, I had two absolutely pain-free and actually enjoyable deliveries. 4) I've gotten to a point with Dr. Steer where when I see him, i'm immediately at ease. When delivering baby #2 during Covid, my husband wasn't able to be with me the whole time since he was with our first kid. I was alone for the first part of my admission and labor and when Dr. Steer arrived (which was very quickly) I knew i'd be ok. 5) It's important to note that Dr Steer was the Dr who saw me for EVERY appointment through TWO whole pregnancies and he DELIVERED both as well. I'd say 95% of my friends and family have always had a different doc deliver from who they were seeing throughout their pregnancy. So yes, i highly recommend Dr. Steer and can't wait for baby #3! read more

Dr Steer is absolutely wonderful. I started seeing him about halfway through my pregnancy and I couldn't of been happier with my decision to switch my care over to him. He is extremely knowledgeable and has a wonderful bedside manner. Dr. Steer always listened to my concerns and kept me updated with every step of the way. When it came to my delivery, he helped to make a very nerve wracking process for a first time mom a much better experience. Huge fan of Dr. Steer. After two children being born in California and moving here we had a really unfortunate experience with another doctor in the area. We found Dr. Steer and after just completing our delivery with him with our third child, I can tell you that there is no finer doctor I have ever met (regardless of specialty). Dr. Steer really takes the time to get to know his patients, always ensures they feel comfortable with his recommendations, and always been organized with Sandra unlike many other doctors offices that do not seem to have their act together. I cannot recommend the doctor enough and while every pregnancy is different, you should feel comfortable with using him. Fantastic Doctor, we had moved to NJ and were scrambling to find a new doctor. We could not be happier to have found Dr Steer. He was kind, knowledgeable and never rushed us. Switching from a big practice to Dr. Steer was the best decision we could have ever made. He gives you individualized personal attention and really cares about his patients (the spouses too). His office manager is as good as they come, super responsive and friendly. But most impressive, Dr. Steer has incredible bedside manners. The differences between birth one (with big practice) and birth two (Dr. Steer) were extremely noticeable. Dr. Steer came to check on my wife several times during labor, was there every time we needed him or had a question and even stayed with my wife after the delivery. I would highly recommend Dr Steer to any couple who is expecting, especially if it is a high risk pregnancy. Dr. Steer delivered both of my daughters, which were both high risk. He took extremely good care of me all along but especially during times when I had critical issues. He made smart and fast decisions while always keeping mom and babies health in mind. At the same time he listened and was receptive to our wishes and birthplan (which in both cases were altered due to complications). Dr Steer is caring, direct and to the point. His receptionist is a pleasure to deal with and very on top of things. I felt confident in leaving our well being in his hands and now have two healthy and beautiful girls. read more
