We had tried to work with the lender and complete the loan modification forms ourselves but to no avail. I had heard the St Louis Home Retention ad numerous times on the radio and finally wrote the info down and contacted them. I told Steve everything, and it was bad, and right away he said they could help. We met with Steve back in October and he told us exactly how the process works, how long it would take, (it is not a quick process thanks to the lenders) and how much it would cost. We signed on, and then Doug and I spent quality times together with emails, phone calls and paperwork till March, when Doug called me and said not only were we approved for the loan modification but our interest rate was 2% and our payment was over $700 less. Twice the lender set the sale date for the foreclosure sale and all along Doug kept telling me, don't give up. Kathi stayed on the lender everyday to make sure they postponed the sale, while the lender kept requesting more paperwork. Every time the lender asked for more paperwork, Doug would send it to them before the due date, I think he wore the lender down! There is no way we ever could have filled out all the paperwork per the lender's guidelines. Finally, the lender approved us, St Louis Home Retention got the deal done!
