If being unemployed for months on end isn't bad enough... doesn't make you feel as small and insignificant as a gnat (yes, the same gnat that the employed are shooing away or smashing with a napkin covered hand), go to Officeteam and you'll be there. As my savings is now pretty well non-existent, I am applying for things that pay just about as well as jobs I had in high school (without a high school diploma or college degree, mind you). I won't embarrass myself by going into the hourly rates I've received in the last several years. Getting back on track, here... I applied for a position, which I was under the impression was an "in-house" recruiting position. I got a call from Officeteam (Caroline) the next day asking me to come in for a generalized interview. I mentioned that the position I had applied for was an internal one. She seemed confused, and said that she couldn't *see* what I had actually applied for, but that she wanted me to come in to interview & test for temporary positions that might open up in the future. I agreed to go in, and asked if I'd be meeting with her. She said that they all work together, and that I'd be meeting with Dana. I arrived for my scheduled "appointment", bearing a freshly printed resume, copies of two letters of recommendation, a page featuring four references, and a "candidate testimonial form" which Officeteam requested that I fill out. I was sent to a conference room to fill out an application, I-9 and W-2 forms, and sign paperwork authorizing a drug test and background check. After completing the lengthy packet of information, I returned it to the very pleasant and friendly receptionist. She told me that Dana would be in to meet with me right away. I went back to the office, and at least 10 minutes later, I was joined by Dana. I will just say that it was not a pleasant experience. I was quizzed about my background and experience, but not in a way that made me feel confident about myself or the placement services. She didn't appear to be listening at all. I kept thinking that it was a waste of my time to be there. She told me in no uncertain terms, that I would be unable to see more than $11 - $12 an hour (which, as crappy as it is, is more than I made at the last 2 of 3 jobs I've held). She acted as if I was not good enough to be in the office, and like I was a high school drop-out with no discernible skills. I felt like I was on trial... and for a crime that I didn't commit. The interview-turned-interrogation was finally over, and I was sent to complete an endless barrage of tests that I don't actually believe show a person's actual skill level. It was frustrating and I stopped counting the number of times that I considered leaving at 12. After the testing, Dana again (lucky me) met with me to go over my results. She gave me my score percentage, and some random-seeming long numbers of others versus mine (what the numbers represented or meant, she didn't explain), and basically told me that I sucked at a few of the tests, was on-par with a few and was better-than-average with a couple. I left this Olive Road office feeling worse than I had before. Just a clue to all of those who have not experienced unemployment, being fired or laid-off, none of us need any help feeling like losers. So, this wasn't a good experience, but I think that I have to follow-up with them. A shitty job is better than nothing, I guess. I'm just not sure that they'll even attempt anything on my behalf. Edit: 4-16-2016 Yes, I have worked as a temp for Office Team in St. Louis. I thank them for being a bridge that brought me over safely after a major surgery, moving to a new area of the country, and career transitioning. My best experience with Office Team was a temp performing data entry for a manufacturer in a beautiful setting with a big window overlooking a scenic area in my own office. My worse experience with Office Team was when the owner's son-in-law returned from military duty and began to make attacks on me. At first I did not know why he kept attacking me but now I suspect post-traumatic- stress syndrome. Later the St. Louis area racism brewed out of control and was aired on national TV. How can you be a great temp for months then suddenly the son-in-law shows up and nothing you do is right? I will never know why he verbally attacked me, but I have some educated guesses. I chose to decline that permanent offer of full-time employment and found full-time work on my own. I was thankful for the opportunity to earn a weekly wage until I could find full-time work which was about 6 months almost full-time as a temp then a 3 month gap of part time temp work before finding full time employment with okay benefits. After moving to the Midwest from Miami, FL, it was just near impossible for me to find a job. After several attempts on my own, I decided to simply Google job placement agencies. There were several - Adecco USA, Kelly Services, just to name a few. Office Team was also included in search results. I did my research on the companies and found that Office Team seemed to provide professional placement in my field of education - administration and management. With this in mind, I decided to reach out. The staff at Office Team was professional from our first telephone conversation and the services provided since then were simply outstanding. They saw something in my educational background and previous work experience (really not a lot) that employers did not have the time to consider. They were able to work on my behalf to help me get my foot in the door so that I can prove myself! They had contact that I did not have! Before getting my current job, I was placed in several temp positions. In so doing, I was able to learn along the way. Currently I'm in a full-time, permanent position with an Association Management company all thanks to the help of Office Team! For the right person, I think OfficeTeam could be a great fit. They will get you a job quickly and work with you to help improve your scores. They let me retake the Excel assessment at home because I was nervous taking it in the office and that improved my score by 30%. Also, they did get me a job within a few days of applying with them and were friendly throughout the beginning process. So if you're looking to have money flow through the door quickly and will work any type of job, this would be a great solution. The reason I'm giving this business a low rating has to do with how my placement was handled. I was told that I would be working a customer service position dealing with logistics and coordinating. That sounded decent, so I expressed some interest. I got to the interview with the client and they said I would be doing invoicing -- BUT not to worry because it was very complex. I called the rep at Office Team to express some concern, but she became very defensive and said it was not "just invoicing" and it was a customer service position. The next day they offered me the job, so I accepted and decided to give it a try. I did eight hours of data entry. I didn't pick up the phone once, nor did I see my co-workers using the phones much. They gave me a stack of invoices with specific numbers that needed to be punched into the computer. So I did that about 80 times until I had worked through all my invoices. I called Office Team that night to explain that this job was data entry and not something I would have accepted, had I known the true details of the job. They emphatically denied that the job was anything other that customer service and was not data entry. (Ummm, I just did the job for eight hours. I think I know what I did all day long.) Because they were so difficult to work with, I decided to quit and pursue my job search alone. They recruiter then sent me an email about how "disappointed" she was with me and how Office Team would never be a resource for me again. It came across rather infantilizing. My advice for someone pursuing this business would be to consider your overall job goals. If you're used to having a corporate position with some level of responsibility and want to rise up in the company -- don't use Office Team. If you're fresh out of college or need professional job experience, this could work for you. For me, it was a bad fit because my previous job experiences make me eligible for corporate positions and I felt misled into doing a job that I was overqualified for. However, I do think OfficeTeam could help a candidate that is just starting out. read more

I applied to half a dozen temp services in the St. Louis area shortly after graduating college, but OfficeTeam is the only one that's been able to quickly and consistently get me good work. They had me on my first job assignment two days after my first visit to their office. Everyone--from the staffing agents to the supervisors at the temp jobs--has been friendly, which is great. Since I don't have any prior work experience I was nervous going in, but they answered the questions I needed answered and were generally very supportive. I would totally recommend it to any other graduates in my situation. Even if you're holding out for a dream job, if you're smart and test moderately well, it's a good way to get to work fast, stave off some of that unemployment panic. If you've got big bills to pay fast then you might want to spring for something more than temp wages, but if you've got big bills to pay in small increments like student loans and just want to start getting money as soon as possible, it's a great option. And if you're worried about getting stuck in a job you hate just out of school, good news! Temp work means you're not locked into anything for (usually) longer than a few weeks. That could be a con, but considering OfficeTeam's quick turn-around when it comes to providing new jobs, I'm seeing it as a pro. read more

After finding myself in need of a position and not having much luck finding one on my own, I got connected with one of the staffing managers at Office Team and went in for an interview. I had never worked with a staffing agency before and did not know what to expect, however, I ended up being pleasantly surprised with my experience. My main point of contact was Caroline Travis. Caroline is truly great at her job. She is highly professional, a great mentor and coach, and her follow-up was fantastic. If I called in regarding positions or needing assistance, she would get back to me as soon as she could to give me as many details as possible. What I liked about Caroline is that she really got to know me, and found me great assignments that not only kept me challenged and interested in the work, but jobs that gave me even greater experience to add to my resume and that were in alignment with my interests and skill sets. I felt like she really cared about me and was always looking out for me in promoting me in the best way to her clients. This resulted in numerous assignments for me...if one assignment was ending I would not have to worry about not having a position, because she would have one waiting for me or something else to consider, which was a huge weight off my shoulders. There were only two instances that were a bit negative for me while working for Office Team, and actually, Caroline even made those better as well. There was one week when Caroline was out visiting clients and I had to work with a woman named Dana in place of Caroline. Dana, not knowing me as well, placed me in an assignment that was strictly filing. I woudln't have minded the work however, I knew I had a strong resume and was capable of doing a lot more intensive work for an organization. Plus, the manager at this particular assignment did not want to take the time to show me how she wanted the filing completed. When I called to tell Dana about the disconnect, she was very short on the phone. It would have been nice to receive a little coaching or advice for working to please that client, or maybe been matched with an assignment that more fit my qualifications. There was one other time where I interviewed with a particular employer, and there were a few follow up questions that came from the interviewer regardng myself and a past employer. I do not feel Dana really went to bat for me, and then I feel like I got a lecture for saying things in the interview that I had been coached on by Office Team to answer about. When I didn't get the assignment, Caroline called me with something else and I was about ready to end my relationship with Office Team. Her caring attitude, coaching, and promotion of the next assignment helped motivate me to take the interview. Out of the interview, I ended up getting the temp assignment and now am happily working here full-time to this day. I would like to also mention Vanessa Warren, another staffing manager. Vanessa was new when I first started and when Caroline was not in, she would take my calls. Vanessa was also a pleasure to work with. Very professional, polite, and she made sure to get any message I needed to relay to Caroline to get right away. She was very knowledgeable and answered a lot of questions for me. She also seems to possess that persona of really caring for her clients. As she continues to progress I am excited to see what she does for this agency! It's staffing managers such as Caroline and Vanessa that would make me recommend Office Team to anyone looking for a position. I truly appreciate the opportunities they have given me and atribute a lot of my full-time position to these ladies. I must congratulate Carrie Cacciatore, Staffing Manager with Office Team at the St. Louis downtown office for keeping me busy the past couple of years. After I was let go from a job (after 17 years) via a mass work reduction, Carrie Cacciatore was my hero to the rescue. After testing with Office Team, she sent me out to several long term positions which were great. After a couple years, Carrie was very understanding if I had to decline a temp position due to family issues and she always kept me in mind for short jobs and one day assignments when I needed them. I appreciate her taking my file with her when she moved to the downtown office from Sunset. To me, that was security. Carrie is an asset to her company; we need more Carries out there helping people like me with earned income when we need it. Thanks to Carrie (and Allison) for their efforts to keep me working. Although I must voluntarily remove my name from their list of available people to work, I know I can go always go back and retest to join the Office Team family if the need arises. I have had nothing but a wonderful experience working with Office Team, from my initial interview all the way through my assignments. I had been on the job market for a very long time and things weren't looking very good, so I submitted my application and resume via the internet. I was contacted in a very timely manner and asked to complete some online assessments and an in-house interview was scheduled. The receptionist was very warm and friendly. She had all my forms pre-printed and gave me some general documents to complete while I waited for my interviewer. Due to my resume reflecting administrative and medical experience, I had two interviews for both departments the same day. It wasn't a week later that I started getting calls about possible placement opportunities. They had to submit my resumes, etc., etc. Within the very week that I applied, I was sent on an assignment that was a perfect match for my job skills. I received a very fair compensation and actually loved the assignment that they sent me on. However, while on assignment Office Team continued to look for better opportunities for me, which was shocking. My assumption was that once, I was placed, that is where I would be until that assignment ended, but I was so wrong. They actually found me a better assignment, making more money and a lot closer to home. I love where I am placed now and the assignment is temp-to-hire. They accommodated me and set me up with Roseann. She helped me get set up for an office manager position at a well known nursing home.
