As well as a separate case. We were prepared to go to court for two months for the custody case but at the last minute my child's father suggested we come to an agreement on our own instead of going to court and letting a Judge decide what would be in the best interest of our child. I was told that this would be the cheaper route by Mrs. Embrey because the time would be shorter and she does not charge as much as she does when she is representing a client in a courtroom. My Ex's attorney told him this as well. We met at the Guardian Ad Lietms office, in separate rooms with our attorneys, while the Guardian Ad Lietm walked back and forth telling us what they wanted in the court ordered agreement and vice versa. I felt like we were in high school passing notes. After three hours of this we finally came to our agreement. A few weeks later I was emailed an invoice by Mrs. Embrey's receptionist, Terry. I was charged the exact same amount as I would have been if we were in a courtroom. Now going on to the seperate case I had. The first hearing I had Mrs. Embrey never showed up! She didn't call or text me. Nothing at all. I called her receptionist, Terry and she had to keep calling her numerous times. Heather gave me a call after my hearing was over and said she was very sick and slept through her alarm and that she was very sorry and that she would take money off of the flat rate that she had originally charged me. Which was $1,500. Terry never took money off of my bill. Mrs. Embrey claims that I still owe her more than $3,500. I do not believe that I do. I paid this woman a "flat rate" on two separate occasions of $1,500 for this separate case. She told me that since the case was moved to a higher court it would be another $1,500. This woman is just about money. She can't juggle her home life and work life. Please beware.

Wasted my time and money-…read more I chose Mr. Brasfield to move my divorce forward after having him review a mediation agreement that left me with a very lopsided situation. He was not incorrect in his assessment, and initially he seemed well versed and able to achieve progress. As time progressed, and my retainer dwindled, the progress slowed until it basically stopped. I re-retained him, for the same fee. He had finally, after 8 months, produced a counter agreement that not only misspelled my name, but also "accidentally" stated I would be paying spousal and child support instead of the other way around. When I brought this to his attention, he insisted it was a mistake, but because this was an offer it was "easily corrected" for the actual version. It was not corrected, and the copy sent to me still retained these mistakes. I should have known then. He did very little on my behalf from then on, and when I questioned the lack of progress he blamed it on the opposing counsel, which he also opined possibly did not exist. He had received no response from him (his story). I finally, after having a second retainer yield zero results, questioned angrily (I admit) what my retainer was for, if he could apparently not move the case forward or do anything on my behalf. I had previously (by a year) asked if I should separately file for child support. He urged me not to, saying it could make the situation more contentious. Once I reached the point I began questioning his ability he asked me if I had filed for child support, and that without an additional $1500 retainer he would not be able to represent me on. To say I was upset is a wild understatement. This attorney consistently downplayed and disregarded specific and dangerous provocations from my husband that the Fairfax County police URGED me to take seriously, once I was convinced to call them. I was given contradictory and unclear information, I was strung along for nearly 2 years, and when I actually dared ask him what I was paying him for, he sent an email within the week stating he no longer chose to represent me. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME. If Mr. Brasfield is effective or helpful in his capacity as a lawyer I certainly did not see it. Do not waste your time. If you do not provide a quick turnaround and little effort he clearly is happy to let your case lapse. I have found much more effective counsel, and more progress has been made in 3 weeks than Mr. Brasfield managed in almost 2 years. BEWARE.

The UPS Store and another agency that provides services to New York City both quoted me for at least a 2-3 week wait at a high cost. The business in NYC told me that because I was not a local, they could not provide me with an expedited 2-3 day service, as their website boldly stated with no qualifications. On 12/04/25, I called The Notary Seal. I first spoke with a kind female rep who had me fill out a quick form to get an estimate. That evening the CEO called me to understand my situation better. I explained everything to him over the phone. I told him that I was on a budget but needed their services.
