Tyler was very helpful, gave honest advice and was supportive. Everyone at Barranco was sympathetic, available for questions and patient. We wanted just a simple service, since she was already cremated elsewhere. He made it so easy and it was very affordable. It's a nice location and a lovely interior. The parking lot is massive with an exit in the front and rear. They have a huge assortment of flower arranges to choose from, or you can order them on your own elsewhere. I decided to pick the flowers through Barranco, although pricey, it was guaranteed to be there I didn't have to do anything (I was distracted enough). We took the flowers home with us after the event, and after a week or more, the Barranco flowers outlasted most of the other flowers people sent from a local florist! They also arranged a photo slide show, and put a nice obituary page on their website. They also recorded the program for us and sent us the link. Very high quality and all you need. I do wish we could hear the organ play (funeral music) when we entered, but that was only me, my brother didn't want that. Overall, a solid experience and consistent. I highly recommend.

While staff we empathetic and courteous, overall, they provided a minimally adequate product that I would not consider value for the money. - Line item merchandise is overpriced and poor quality. Specifically, the prayer card selection is minimal, cards had edit errors and were not laminated. - Flowers were expensive for mostly carnations and greens actually provided in the arrangement - Rooms are dark and dreary Suggest not paying in advance until you can ascertain the quality of the products purchased.

Maryland Cremation Services

When my father passed away last month, Maryland Cremation Services made a very difficult process,…read moreseamless and easy. Within two hours of the initial phone call, they were at the assisted care facility to pick up my dad. The gentleman who arrived was dressed in a suit, was very professional and caring, and walked me through all of the paperwork. I was able to pick up the cremains in less than a week and the woman that I met with was lovely. She even provided me with the information to obtain a burial flag from the VA. Prices are reasonable and customer service is amazing. Thank you so much, MCS.

From the beginning it was a horror story, they lost my paperwork for a pre-planned cremation. I was power of attorney and was able to fill out and email it to them. I told them when it was emailed and to whom it was emailed. They claimed that they can only see the email for 24 hours and only the supervisor can access them after that. The supervisor was useless and my partially blind brother had to get his part of the paperwork filled out at the doctor's office and faxed to their office. Then they did not post my mother's obituary for at least a week. It took several emails and phone calls to figure out what kind of format it needed to be in. The only thing I thought went well was picking up the ashes and prayer cards. They did not ask me to check the prayer cards. Why would I need to? They have all the information from the death certificate. I never even looked at them. Somebody at my mom's service saw that it had the wrong birthdate. Nobody took them after that. I guess they figured I would return them and get new ones printed. I had planned on doing just that. Until I was told that for their mistake, I would have to pay an additional 10.00. Imagine that! They found the paperwork. They told me it looked like the date they printed. I asked a non-partial person to read the date back to me and she gave me the correct date. The supervisor of the Millersville location who would not give me her name told me I used their service because of the price, and I have not complained so far (goes to show how much she pays attention) and that paying an additional 10.00 to get partial cards should not be an inconvenience. At that point, I told her I have not been happy with the service, and the price was not the best I could have gotten. (I found out later that someone from my HS could have given me a much better price.) Then she told me if I was so unhappy I could have had another company pick up the body and move it to another location. Believe me, if I knew that was an option, I would have done it in a heartbeat. I thought I was stuck.

I was struck by the sincerity of the staff.. not the usual slickness that is accompanied by questionable sympathy. My friend was never rushed or pressurred.. and the represenative that worked with us was a truly likeable and easygoing guy. I also like that this business donates plots to fallen police and firemen. I will say the office building is quite outdated and a bit run down.. Actually doesn't smell that great.... but that is not why we come. We come for the grounds... which are beautiful and cater to a wide variety of cultures. It is very interesting to see the different ways people memorialize their loved ones, America is a melting pot and so are our funeral/burial customs. The niche here leans way from the mainstream American cemetary... although it certainly isnt too far out of the box. It is nice that they make it clear that they can find a way to honor almost any cultural tradition. They don't have headstones( just in laid markers) ... so all you see is beautiful green punctuated by a few family mausoleums. There is a lake in the middle with swans and ducks. It is placed on some gently sloping hills with some tall old trees. They have several themed gardens.. including a heroes garden, and lovely tranquility garden ( catering to the Asian population) .. as well as several others. Usually cemeteries are such depressing, creepy places.. but this looks like a well maintained park.. The main mausoleum, is quite nice and airy.. It has gone through a few style incarnations over the years.. but it actually works well... i found the building to have a very serene overall effect. I came to be of comfort to a friend, but also ended up finding a place that just might suit my own family one sad day.
