Unfortunately, Zak did not come prepared for our paid online consultation. He had not looked…read morethrough my documentation in advance, which I spent a lot of time compiling. He did not know basic things pertaining to LA Public Housing Records. He did not seem to have a lot of experience with landlord/tenant matters, let alone complex ones, which was concerning - especially given the online advertising and marketing that suggest otherwise. I wasted money that could've been spent elsewhere. P.S the office manager, Elena Stevens, is extremely rude. I had called at roughly 10:20am politely asking if my email had been received, to which she snapped - saying "it's the start of my day, how dare you ask me that when I've barely started my day?!" etc. Don't let the shiny website reel you in. I really do not understand the high reviews on Google. I should've checked Yelp instead.

I'll give you the pros and cons before giving you my overall recommendation…read more Pros: He seemed like a nice guy He knows the laws and can rattle them off to you in your consultation which will put you at ease. He has an admin which is helpful so that there is always someone who will get back to you when Zak is unavailable. Cons: He's only been a lawyer for a little over 4 years. He snapped at me because he was having a hard day, presumably, with a different case and then proceeded to become impatient with me after rattling off more legal jargon that I was trying to process into layman's terms. To the point where I had to snap back and tell him NOT to get testy with me. He doesn't know how to explain the legal terminology into plain language. Instead he'll just keep repeating the legal terms and you'll have to look them up later even if you ask him what that means. His flat fee for me and my case with the "discount" was $4200. So he's a quite pricey compared to more experienced lawyers that I had called. You can NEVER go to his office because you have to be "buzzed in" or have an appointment in order for them to let you in. Either way there's ALWAYS a reason given as to why you cannot go to his office. Which made me wonder if the address location was even real or just for website purposes. The biggest CON: Was that my case ended in a wash. Obviously not the legal term, but despite there being no winner or loser, I felt as though I had lost because I had spent a lot of money ($4200) on a lawyer, only for my landlords lawyer to voluntarily dismiss the case because Zak let him know why he was going to lose, leaving me open to my landlord serving me AGAIN. And for me having to spend MORE MONEY on another lawyer. So Zak gets to keep my $4200, gets to go back east on vacation, and my case is "technically" resolved.... Even though it's NOT because I now have the same problem as I did before hiring him! Learn from my very costly lesson: Find yourself a lawyer with more years of experience under their belt. If you do go with Zak, do NOT do a flat fee. Pay by the hour and make sure he gives you an itemized listing of everything he's done with all his time accounted for. Remember: You're hiring a lawyer so you don't have to go to law school just to get justice you deserve.

I hired David after a California domestic violence restraining order petition was filed against me…read moreby a family member. I live out of state, had never been in this type of situation before, and was terrified--not only because of the court process, but because of the possible professional consequences if the case went badly. The first law firm I hired reviewed the facts and essentially concluded that I was probably going to lose. I then found David, and from the very first conversation, it was clear he saw the case differently. He did not minimize the situation or sugarcoat anything, but he immediately understood that there was more going on than what appeared on paper. He had a command of the procedural issues, the courtroom dynamics, and the strategy in a way that gave me confidence when I had almost none left. What stood out most was that David was not just technically excellent--he was creative, strategic, responsive, and genuinely caring. He understood my state of mind, took my fears seriously, and explained his plan in a way that made me feel protected rather than judged. He was always available when I needed him and treated the case with urgency and humanity. In the end, my mother and I did not even have to fly to California or appear remotely. David appeared for us, spoke directly with the other side at court, and by the time the matter resumed, the petitions against both of us were dropped. That result was an enormous relief. I went from believing I was about to lose everything to walking away with the case dismissed. David is the kind of lawyer people hope exists when they are scared and overwhelmed--the kind of lawyer you see in movies but do not expect to find in real life. I am incredibly grateful that I called him and trusted him.

He took the time to listen, walked me through what was happening in a way I could finally understand, and gave me clear guidance without making me feel rushed or judged. What stood out the most was how calm and supportive he was. I came in anxious and overwhelmed, and he genuinely helped ease my nerves just by explaining things plainly and giving me the confidence to move forward. It's rare to find an attorney who leads with both expertise and compassion. Even though my issue wasn't technically in his wheelhouse, he still made sure I left with real answers and a better path forward. I'm extremely grateful for his time and would highly recommend him to anyone who needs honest, knowledgeable, and genuinely supportive legal help.

Our son still sits in jail, after 2 years, even though Daniel and his team told our family they knew he was innocent and it wouldn't go past the prelim hearing - well it did!! And to make matters worse, in order for them to stay on the case, through the hearing, they wanted MORE money. Daniel didn't return phone calls, was difficult to reach, and couldn't manage to file motions in time. In addition, there were a number of times his PI would call me after hearing from Daniel, and ask for my assistance in locating certain people, which I did!! For a team of 3 lawyers, with over "100 years of experience" I wasn't impressed!!

I was facing a 3 year legal battle that brought tremendous amounts of stress to myself and my family and if not for Daniel I would have been truly lost. I was facing up to 5 years in prison but with Daniel's expertise, help and top tier negotiating skills he was able to help me get the best possible outcome without having to serve any time. After 3 long years I can finally rest and put the past behind me. Choosing Daniel as my defense attorney was one of the wisest decisions of my life.
