I am so grateful to have found Roam. I have been coming here 4-5 days a week since I started 5 months ago.
The owners are skilled yogis and have been studying under different teachers since I was born it seems. They are both kind and intentional in the way they run the studio. They have another location where they do community kirtan, YAS! I love kirtan with yoga family. They have curated such a wonderful staff and environment.
Literally every teacher I've had here is amazing in unique ways. All of them are effective at cueing, have creative flows and are knowledgeable in anatomy. A couple of shout outs: I love Raquel Drew's thoughtful sequencing. She is great at isolating muscles that are not easily accessed by typical yoga poses. Her adjustments are intuitive and her background in anusara is a breath of fresh air for a backbend lover like me.
Emily Perez has fun sequences, fast and purposeful. She herself is a light and her classes are just plain fun, even while pouring sweat from your face. Her creativity in sequencing is phenomenal. I love being surprised by the next pose.
Eben has a more classical yoga approach, holding poses for a long time while relating it to philosophy. This type of yoga is not what everyone is used to, but it is what everyone needs. He also keeps you accountable while holding the poses, giving adjustments and helping you logically get through the burn. This is the most challenging class for me and I love the practice.
Deacons classes are also thoughtful and he excels at the more yin and restorative aspects of yoga. He is creative with his use of props, which seems difficult. We all know sun A's, but prop usage...a bit more mysterious. Don't be fooled by his dedication to the yin styles though, his classes are also challenging and his adjustments are on point.
Puja is a loving powerhouse who's chanting and kirtan makes me swoon. I have been to at least 6 different studios in LA and have never found a studio that has chanting. His voice is beautiful, he knows many chants and incorporates them into his classes. What a treat.
All of the other teachers have been A+. I just don't feel comfortable giving details on how they excel because my schedule does not permit me to take their classes regularly. I have never had a bad class here.
The studio itself is great. no mirrors, huge plus. I want to feel my alignment and not get distracted by the visual. It is bright and open. parking is great, surprisingly.
Anyway, so I'm pretty much in love with Roam and everyone who works here. This is a great studio for all levels and will help you grow in your practice. Could not recommend this studio highly enough. read more
