There's probably some sticker shock (understandably) around the one-off price of $35 per class, but the real value with One Down Dog is in the unlimited packages. During the unlimited three-week intro period ($79), I did 22 classes -- yes, my personal life is *that* exciting ;) -- so that's not even $4 per class. That average will go up a bit now that I'm on the monthly unlimited, but the value is still incredible. It's a nice, modern, secure studio, and I've found all of the instructors and desk managers to be very pleasant. Given the high per-class fee, I'm guessing that some people will get a bad impression of this place if the one or two classes they happen to try aren't ones that fit their goals, as they'll just think ODD charges too much for classes that they don't even like. But there's no way to get a sense of all the instructors and all the classes by going just two or even three times. Regardless of what the given class is called, there will inevitably be some variation from one instructor to the next. The "flow" naming convention can seem (be?) counter-productive at times, but it's ultimately a good thing that classes vary based on the instructor so that you have options in terms of pace and vibe. Experienced yogis will probably find the use of contemporary music in some (though not all) of the classes to be a little jarring. But again, you just need to find your preferred instructors and classes. There are also a few classes here that are explicitly not yoga, like HIIT and mat pilates, but that's very clear ahead of time and it's nice to have those non-yoga options at a yoga studio. I would personally like to see a few more classes on the weekends and maybe a few more classes that go longer than 60 minutes. I'm otherwise very happy I found this place and will continue to take classes there regularly. read more

Prior to joining, I had only ever done yoga and Pilates at home and I was so anxious about joining a studio, especially in LA, but the entire staff has been sooo wonderful and welcoming. The front desk staff take the time to learn your name and make you truly feel at home, and the instructors are all knowledgable, kind, patient, and explain everything so well. I love this place. It's clean, the people are friendly and the app is so easy! Plus there's parking!

They'll pressure you to book direct through email/text and in person instead of ClassPass to the point where it's annoying and they have an attitude about it. If you don't want ClassPass guests, get off the platform! I booked through ClassPass and they changed me to "pending" after booking and when I canceled because they wouldn't let me in I got charged a late fee for a reservation they set to "pending" for ClassPass users. While there, the desk attendant said, "well you can pay $35 for the class now and get in now or wait for a later class if you wanna do ClassPass." I already paid via ClassPass a-hole. This is the same day I was going to buy a 30 day pass directly through them and they talked themselves out of money by being greedy a-holes. And some of the instructors are micro-aggressive snobs. I live across the street but willingly drive to another studio now where I bought/booked a multi month unlimited pass DIRECT so that I don't have to deal with the crap they do here at ODD Hollywood. And guess what....the other studio doesn't give me crap about booking as a ClassPass member when I feel like it. read more

I came to One Down Dog with high hopes, but unfortunately had two very troubling experiences with one of the teachers, Dylan, that left me questioning the studio's values. In my first class, I extended some transitions in my vinyasa (such as moving from eka pada to chin stand, or from knee-to-elbow into eka pada). With over 16 years of practice, I know how to listen to my body and safely deepen my practice. Dylan singled me out and told me not to do this. When I thanked him at the end of class, he rolled his eyes and looked away, not responding to my thanks. I brushed it off, assuming he might have been having a bad day. On my second visit, I overheard him scolding a student for over five minutes, telling them they were "a distraction," that they "needed to follow the sequence," and that "if they wanted to do their own thing, they should practice at home." As both a long-time practitioner and a teacher myself, I was disturbed to see a student treated this way. Yoga is meant to be a safe space for self-study, compassion, and inner connection- not a place where students feel shamed or bullied. What made this worse was that when I approached the studio directly to share my concerns, I felt brushed aside. There was no genuine care or accountability in how my feedback was received. That left me with the impression that creating a safe and respectful environment for students is not a priority here. Because of this, I cannot recommend One Down Dog. No student should feel unsafe, dismissed, or judged on their mat. read more

I've been attending classes at this studio for a few months now and I have to say it's one of my favorites. A large, naturally lit studio, no mirrors, good selection of classes every day and great teachers. Everything feels very modern and clean. I love Natalie and Nate's classes. The environment is always welcoming and inclusive. They also offer sound baths monthly. Booking through the app is really easy. Parking available above Ross. There is a sketchy stairwell from the parking lot to the sidewalk that I recommend avoiding, and instead take the front stairwell that leads the front of Ross. read more

I use to go to the studio located in Eagle Rock so I was eager to check out this spot. Parking can be challenging especially since the lot is shared with other businesses. Plenty of free street parking though. Studio is located upstairs. It looks just as nice as the studio in Eagle Rock. Very clean especially since you have to leave your shoes outside. There's a little shop where you can purchase some workout gear. Kind of expensive though, but the quality appears to be good. There's a restroom on the same level and right next to the studio. You need a key to access it and the bathroom was clean. I took the core class. Slow pace. Sometimes I wasn't sure if I was doing it right and it would have been nice if the instructor walked around more often to check on the students form especially since the class wasn't very big. There are more challenging. sweaty classes though if that's your thing. Would I go back? Maybe, but not sure I would do the core class again. They take Classpass. read more

I have been attending classes at One Down Dog for around 7 years, I love it because they place a strong emphasis on community and self love. There are a couple locations around town but the Hollywood location is by far my favorite! The studio space is absolutely beautiful, with a lovely sitting area and little shop and most importantly there's a ton of parking (on the roof of the Marshalls)! The front desk staff is super kind and helpful, shout out to Megan, it's such a joy to see her every week. I regularly take classes with Katherine, Megan, Mikayla, and Emalee. I've been to so many yoga studios in LA through ClassPass. And this one is my favorite, hands down. So much so that I don't mind driving 20 mins to go here when there are studios much closer to me. I love the vibe of ODD. It's very peaceful, and classes are usually small. The instructors always take the time to get to know students and check in with us. Generally I don't write a review after just taking one class, but I'd feel guilty not giving a well deserved 5 Stars to ODD and specifically Essence's 75 minute Flow class. Studio is spacious and seems new, staff is so sweet and inviting. I was intimated by the idea of taking a 75 minute yoga class but it flew by - felt like 30. There's a lot of love at this studio and I'm looking forward to coming back. Parking is easy - I grabbed a meter on Sunset but there's a lot in the strip you can park in and some neighboring streets with avail spots as well. One downside is that the bathroom is in the yoga space which I see quite often. Barefoot bathroom + yoga mat scenario is not my favorite but that's being nit picky because class was great. read more

Wow talk about a new love / obsession. I've always wanted to be better at yoga, while feeling out allllllll my feelings of rage and anger on the mat when I'm not good at it (damn you years of dance flexibility giving me over confidence). Went off the mat for years, seething at yoga studios across the country for being "too fast," "can't link breath to movement," "I'm hyperventilating," etc. Enter One Down Dog. Right across the street from my house, and I was truly shocked to see how many classes they offered every day - and the variety!! No vinyasa only or 120 degree only type stuff here, truly classes for everyone: Chill and Align for beginners (or erstwhile beginners like me), Flow to push you if you're new or challenge you if you're not, lots of versions of yin / hatha, and some sweaty Pilates and core classes I'm too scared to try just yet. More than the variety, though, is HOW much the staff wants you to love yoga and succeed here: when I emailed ODD about my hopes dreams and yoga fears, and mentioned one flow teacher just wasn't my type because that class was a bit more advanced, Grace HOOKED IT UP with teachers to try, classes I hadn't thought of, and encouragement to keep up with some of the more challenging Flow classes along the way. She was 1000% accurate in her suggestions for me, despite the bonkers email. Favorite instructors so far are Yoni and Molly, who really get into how your body should be positioned even during faster flows - which is where I usually get frustrated. Make sure to try out a lot of instructors, and perhaps their diff classes. And definitely tell your instructors what you need help with! Most classes aren't a traditional flow, which can be freeing, but also a little frustrating because it can take longer to feel solid about knowing your basics. read more

One of my FAVORITE yoga studios in LA. Where do I start? The teachers are world class, the community is so supportive, and there is a class for however you are feeling. All classes are taught to all levels and the teachers can kick your butt in sweat, teach you some new stuff in a funky flow class, or help ease the stress away in a restorative or back class. I love how thoughtful the programming is (and the amazing playlists!!!). There are always amazing workshops going on in addition to the variety in class schedule. If you are looking for a yoga community, definitely check them out! The downside? Parking can be atrocious (welcome to LA lol), but it is manageable with the street metered parking and neighborhood parking within walking distance. Yoga in LA can be really expensive, but they have some good packages to help make it more manageable. read more

Long overdue review! I can't express how grateful I am to ODD yoga. First off, I'm in a very unique situation where I travel 90% of the time for work and barely have time for anything, let alone yoga. The team has been incredibly understanding and supportive over the years, they've worked with me and been beyond considerate with my membership. Other places in LA have been god awful, so I'm truly grateful that there are businesses that actually want to create a community and be kind. Adam is by far my favorite instructor there. He's excellent at providing an engaging yoga practice while offering words of wisdom to truly "reset" your mind,body, and soul. Kim, also great for prenatal yoga. I've attended her classes for both my pregnancies and loved how honest and nurturing the class was, especially through your own spiritually journey of pregnancy. Don't know where I'd be without this studio. I hate that feeling of walking into a new yoga studio and feeling like you don't belong. Everyone seems to know each other, getting lost looking for the bathroom, not sure where to set up your mat or what props to get, etc etc. With One Down Dog I never felt that way. As soon as I walked in and mentioned it was my first time there, the girl behind the desk immediately welcomed me in a way that felt so sincere. She took the time to show me around, introduce me to the teacher, and to make sure I had everything I needed for class. It was such a refreshing experience. And it wasn't a one time thing. As I showed up for more and more classes I noticed that each person I met had this same inviting, open energy. ODD is now my home and I come here as often as I can. I travel a lot for work and will sometimes be gone for weeks at a time but I always return to the same energy that makes me feel like I was just there yesterday. read more

Love one down dog! They have a studio in echo park and silver lake which is perfect for me, because one is right by where I live other is right next to where I work. So I like going to yoga at lunch during the week and I LOVE the Mondays/Wednesdays lunch class. The teachers/classes are wonderful, I leave them feeling so refreshed. And I really appreciate how thoughtful and creative the teachers are! However I really don't like the Tuesday/Thursday lunch class :/. The class is really redundant and I always leave them feeling meh. It's a real bummer because I wish I could go to yoga 5 days a week during lunch, but I really just can't go to the tues/thurs anymore. read more

This is an amazing yoga studio - truly unique and always a great time. They have a wonderful philosophy that all of the teachers agree with and embrace a diverse group of students. It's a great vibe and I love their music. I was recommended to check out ODD when I moved to LA from NYC. I'd never done yoga before always thinking it wasn't for me as I'm not so into hippy dippy stuff and not very flexible. I am big into fitness and run long distance regularly, which fits well with this studio. Coming here once a week has helped my mind, body, soul, and running tension. Their best class is Sweat, a combo of aerobics and yoga. I've taken it with Audrey (who also does an Acro yoga class) and Cindy who are both AMAZING. Come here but beware you'll want to stay. One Down Dog seems more concerned with monetizing yoga rather than creating a quiet, sacred space. However, the front desk team are welcoming and helpful. Studio spaces are crowded. One was blasting techno. The Green studio is particularly small with low ceilings. As there are no locker rooms, I utilized the cubbyhole. I was 15 min. early and checked my phone to see if a friend was coming. The instructor, Essence, indirectly told me and another person to go outside if we needed to use our phones, "it's just weird" and rolled her eyes. Poor communication and not a great tone to start. Her teaching style is so off putting, rich with attitude and ironically egoic. She cursed throughout class, kept mixing up right and left, antagonized us for being "too serious" and really worked for laughs. Had a very LA/comedian vibe. Not my personal preference. ODD is such an incredible community with fantastic classes, instructors, workshops, fun challenges, and honestly they sell the cutest stuff too. I've been going for over two years now, and it's the first studio I've found in LA where the people who go there and work there are welcoming, lovely, and accommodating. As someone who has always hated working out, I'm so glad I've finally found something that works my body and mind! ODD has honestly shifted my perspective in a big way and has made me a better, more balanced person. So grateful this place exists! So happy that I can go to Silver Lake which is closer to where I live or Echo Park which is near work. Going to Eagle Rock for the first time this weekend and can't wait. :) There are classes for everyone too, and instructors often give options for poses to make them easier or more challenging, always mixing it up and making people feel good about what they're bringing to the mat on a given day. There's really something for everyone, and the way they define the classes makes so much sense vs. separating people based on skill level like at other studios. SWEAT, FLOW, SCULPT, CORE are all an incredible workout. And I love FLOWDOWN and CHILL which will also let you work up a sweat but at a slightly chiller place. Nice to go to RESTORE every now and then for ultra relaxation. Ah, One Down - I love you! I have been coming to this studio a little over six months since I moved to Silver Lake and I love it. I've been a member of two other studios previously and One Down is by far the best. I have limited exercise time, so when I do show up, I want to work and burn some serious calories. One Down does not disappoint. Many of their classes are high energy, cardio-based workouts. Vibe: Empowering, fun, non-judgmental. Best Class: Sweat at 11:00am on Saturday. Jessica, the owner, teaches it and it is awesome! Such great energy, and indeed you will sweat out half your body weight. This isn't lightweight sh*t. Bring ice water and a wet towel and be ready to work. Oh, and vibe wise, think "Total Eclipse of the Heart" during hip openers. In Jess's words: "Dance Party right now. Permission Granted." Best Teachers: Jessica (Sweat), Ducky (Flow) and Alexis (Sculpt). Staff: Great. All friendly (not to mention beautiful... but this is yoga, so duh). Tech Extra: One Down has their own iphone and anroid app so you can easily view the weekly class offerings. They even have a blog with some class playlists posted! Parking: Valet Parking for $1 with validation. I usually just find street parking behind the studio or right on Sunset, which isn't too bad if you're willing to walk a couple minutes. Prices: I originally bought the Groupon - 20 classes for $82... STEAL. I had to use this within three months, so it was a great motivator. Towards the end of my three months, they offered me 20 classes plus two extra for $240, which comes out to $10.90 per class. Totally worth it. Take advantage of their promotions and this studio is one of the more affordable ones out there. Other Highlights: 1. Late classes. I get off work pretty late and so I need a studio that schedules classes later in the evening. This studio has classes starting as late as 8:45pm for us career girls! Thank you! 2. Patrick is the studio's mascot. He's Jessica's dog and he frequently joins us at the front of the class. Adorable. 3. They have a shop with super cute yoga clothes and often have a good sale section Drawbacks: 1. Classes get crowded since One Down only has one class spaces. It's big, but for popular classes (like Saturday morning Sweat), the room does fill up and I've seen latecomers be turned away. Get there 5-10 minutes early and you're fine. 2. It gets pretty hot in the room, unless the open the big window/doors that line one large wall. My advice is bring ice water and towel. read more

Brianna's classes are dance-y and perfectly fluid. Bobbi's classes are accessible but she has the BEST music and is also creative with her sequencing. I might cancel my Classpass membership and go full on family-mode here, the classes and instructors are so good. We'll see. read more
