This absolutely AMAZING human right here was so nice and patient and kind. She helped my daughter get comfortable before we headed out to see the forest and kept all the horses in line and overall just made this such a spectacular stop on our journey!!!! You don't meet people like her often but it sure does make my day when we do!!!!! Bullet and Princess were also important all stars.

Such a wonderful guided horseback tour! The staff was so knowledgeable and very helpful to those in our group who were new to riding. Mike our guide was so funny and gave us really cool historical and nature facts along the way. Everyone was so kind and helpful throughout the entire process. The horses are well taken care of and obviously loved. It was such a great experience and I couldn't recommend this company enough. We will definitely be coming back!

I got to Ride on potato , one of the sweetest horses. The tour was amazing, loved the trail we were on and not to mention the amazing staff! I can't wait to go back and do it again!

The best horses, ranch hands and trails! I will not ride anywhere but here with Nancy Burch's horses! Booking a second ride this week and looking forward to riding again upon my return next summer!

We drove by and saw the sign for FRESH EGGS and we stopped by to buy some eggs. Long story short...we also booked a horseback ride! We had such a good time with our tour with Miss Nancy! We originally booked an afternoon tour but due to the afternoon thunderstorms it was cancelled and she happily rescheduled for a morning tour. Nancy was highly knowledgeable of the area and pointed out lots of points of interest to us while we rode along and enjoyed the beautiful scenery! We loved how the ride was on dirt rather than rocks. We did a horse ride in Red River last year (July 2021) and it was all on rocks (at least the tour we did). Our horses were Sundance, Badger and Rodeo Queen.

Nothing beats the in person experience with the horses like the red carpet Roadrunner Tours rolled out for us. We were lucky enough to schedule a tour with one of the top guides in the bizz, Margaret. Margaret made sure that everyone on our tour felt comfortable on their horse. She makes sure that your stirrups are even and walks you through exactly how to use the reins to navigate your horse. They do give you saddle bags if you need to carry sunscreen (highly recommended during summer trips!) and of course any snacks/water you might need. Pro tip : apply your sunscreen pre ride and I DO NOT RECOMMEND RIDING WITHOUT JEANS. It gets hot and very bumpy (ouch!!) Margaret led us on the most beautiful tour EVER. She's super friendly and knowledgeable about the horses and the history of New Mexico. The horses are all very well trained and I'm excited to bring my niece and nephew to experience a wonderful ride with Margaret!! Thank you so very much for making our experience super stellar!

My wife and I had a great ride with our tour guide Renee while visiting Angel Fire. The horses were well tended to and after my wife's first horse was a little skittish for her they immediately got her a different, more mellow horse. My horse was wonderful and minded well during the entire two-hour ride. We had a lot of fun and will do it again the next time we're in Angel Fire.

I've never ridden a horse, and always been a bit afraid. Today, I rode a horse with Nancy at Roadrunner horse adventures. The entire experience and beauty of the snowbound woods was amazing! I highly recommend this tour, and she was great with the kiddos on our tour as well:) Do yourself a favor and check it out when in the Taos area:) Don't forget to drive the enchanted circle also! Enjoy!

I highly recommend Road Runner Tours by the one and only Miss Nancy Burch! She was very professional and treats everyone like they are family. This was my kids first time to go on a trail ride and they absolutely loved it. Our guide, Tommy G, was exceptional. We did the 1.5 hour trip. That was perfect for my 9 and 7 year old kids. As a former farm raised country kid, but now city slicker, that was just the right length of time for me too. Saddle up with the family and make some memories! You will not regret it!

These tours are a whole lot of fun if you're a more experienced rider. I love horseback rides and always try to go when I can, and I 100% was not disappointed by Nancy and her crew. Nancy and team are about as country as they come, and they all take pride in their horses. There's a wide variety of them, too, so you don't have to worry about riding a horse that is too advanced for you if you're a beginner. Nancy knows exactly which horse you need. I rode a bay horse named Sandy, and she was very easy to ride with, very obedient to commands like turning, trotting, etc. I know my picture isn't with a bay horse, but my mom insisted I take a picture on a horse so a draft horse makes a more interesting picture (I didn't take any pictures on the trip because I was too busy having fun!). What I enjoyed most about my trip was that even though I was only a single rider, Nancy got her old country friends to join us so I wouldn't be alone. On top of that, the riding wasn't very strict! You don't have to ride in a straight line, stay on the path, or worry about keeping your horse at a walk. If you want to trot along, you trot! That was what I loved most, because it really feels like you're free on the horse. My only complaints are they ask for a tip up-front before you even see your horse and during my ride there wasn't much conversation between me and the other riders. They already knew each other and I felt a little left out.

I have to say that Al is as nice as the day is long. He is interested and interesting. He is eager to hear where we came from, as well as to share his history in the Taos Ski Valley. He is one of 34 year-round residents of the area. After signing waivers, he drove us roughly 30 minutes up the mountain to his horse camp at 10,500 ft. in the mountains. He assessed us for experience and fit us in duster-sized rain slickers, to keep us both dry and warm in the mountains, he said. We didn't hit any rain, but there were grey clouds on the peak next to us and lightening in the distance, so the slickers were obviously a good idea. Next he gave us a lesson on horse handling and safety, and had each of us practice on his saw horse models. Then he and Blake helped everyone saddle up and we were off...Big Al at the front and Blake at the back. We had a great 2-hour ride through the mountains with beautiful views of Taos Ski Valley and Wheeler Peak on the Bull of the Woods Trail. At the 12,000 foot summit, we were close enough to touch the last snow of the season (if we were't on horseback) which thrilled the kids on July 3. It was a glimpse of the mountain usually restricted to expert hikers...truly a privilege. Every one of our group of six are convinced that we had the best horse. My daughter was on Rio and I was on Blanco (the best I'm sure), the rest of our group were on Badger, Ace, Milagro and Payday. These horses are obviously used to riders of all experience level--were we handling them or were they handling us? The ride ended back at the horse camp. On the literature they advertise a 15-course snack, which for us was a big variety of sodas, snack cakes (twinkies, little debbie, etc), granola bars, peanuts, snack crackers, cheezits. We sat and snacked and truly enjoyed our visit with Al and Blake. On the way down the mountain, we asked Al what would be for dinner had we chosen the ride that ended with a chuck wagon dinner. He said: Shrimp cocktail Mozzarella/tomato salad Pasta Grilled pork loin Apple pie with maple syrup However I'm sure the menu changes occasionally. Whatever it is, I'm pretty sure it would be good. Our ONLY disappointment of the day was that we didn't get photos of us on our horses. Once we were riding, it was hard to manage a camera, as you always had one hand on the reigns and one on the saddle horn. It would have been nice to get a group picture, or even to stop at the more scenic places. Besides that, we were thrilled. Now for the 411: 2 hour ride with snack was $65 plus tax or $70 per person all in. 2 hour ride with chuck wagon dinner was $85 plus tax. Overnight with dinner and breakfast is $145. We saw the bunks and camp and it seems like it could be a really fun adventure. Overall...6 thumbs up from our group of 6. Thanks Al, and thanks Blake. It was all you said it would be and more.

The owners have constructed two "casitas" and a cabin which they have appointed tastefully and completely. They are very well stocked with appliances for a short or extended vacation. There is a flat-screen TV in the living room with a large selection of DVDs to view and several shelves of interesting books to read if you wish. That's right beside the wood-burning stove that would be a delight in the winter. Bring your pets as well as each unit has an adjacent large enclosed chainlink fence kennel which is both covered and protected on one side to hold your dogs in comfort while you're out wandering the forest trails. Of course all horse owners will want to know about the equestrian facilities. They're excellent! Large paddocks with electric and water hookups. Each unit has a large run-in shed, gate access is easy, and the paddocks are easily visible from inside the living quarters. Large stock tanks are provided. There is ample space for your trailer and easy turn-around drives. Finally, all of this would be diminished if the facilities were old and in need of updating and repair as so many horse resorts are. But they're not. Everything is well maintained and and in excellent condition. The owners are dedicated to this place and it shows.

And, yes, it shares a driveway with the Taos Art Museum, so you'll be scratching your head when you first arrive. Beautiful foyer and our unit (1 Bedroom) was spacious. The main living area has a dining table and mini-kitchen. There was a Murphy bed along one wall and a second bathroom, so you could use it as a 2-room unit. Our bedroom and additional bathroom provided plenty of space. We were on the first floor and had a small patio off both rooms. But, it was cold and stormy when we visited so we didn't use the outdoor space. The staff was fantastic and we were thrilled to have an early check-in after our snowy drive from Santa Fe. The resort is large, but was only partially occupied during our stay and they had several off-season construction projects going on during our visit. The pool is closed during the cold months, but the outdoor hot tub was open. It was only OK, so definitely room for improvement there. There were other indoor rec spaces (gym and pool table), but we didn't use those during our stay. They did have copies of USA Today and other tourist info. we found helpful by the front entrance. Loved the location which wasn't in the heart of downtown, but within easy walking distance of many restaurants, shops, and galleries in Taos. Sabor Real across the street was an easy breakfast spot and the grocery store, Cid's Market, was just down the road. The kitchenette was solely for heating up leftovers with no stove top or oven and only a mini-fridge, toaster, coffee machine, and microwave. Our favorite thing when we arrived was movies and popcorn. After a big storm, there was no cable TV, so we went through their HUGE binder of movies and selected a couple. My recommendation to them after our visit was to group the movies by genre since everything (horror, kids, romantic comedy, etc.) are all mixed together. On that first night, they had bags of popcorn in the reception area, but it never returned during our stay. The resort felt like a WorldMark, but probably because of the timing of our stay, we also had personal service. Some of the things in the room were oddly placed or installed backwards (door handles that lift up, and toilet rolls in odd locations), but overall things were just fine and we'd stay here again.

Capper to the night I accidentally went to the wrong door and my key card opened it. Luckily no one was in there. Owner members pay hefty prices for membership and fees only to find things like this. Wild Rivers is about 50 minutes from Taos but a scenic drive. Once you are in the public lands, the scenery gets more and more amazing. In the Wild Rivers area, there's a visitor center (currently only open on weekends), a scenic byway with overlooks, campgrounds and hiking trails that take you down to the river. I opted to do the trail to Big Arsenic Springs. The byway was very well signed and there's day use parking that does have a self paid fee. Since it's a BLM administered park (federal) you can instead display your America the Beautiful National Parks pass. Amazing scenery of the river and surrounding canyons along the petroglyphs towards the end of the Big Arsenic trail. The hike I opted for was short (2.5 miles but with an 800 ft elevation gain on the way back up from the river.) The park does an amazing job maintaining the trails and the well graded switchbacks made it a pleasant hike. On the drive out, after my hike, I stopped at other scenic view points. Later in the day, I visited another section of the park, closer to Taos where you can walk across and take in vistas of the Rio Grande Gorge bridge. If you're visiting Taos and love the outdoors, a visit to this park is a must.
