Nice building with outdoor seating. The drive thru was closed. Baristas were welcoming and friendly, smiling and helpful. They don't have a lot of flavored syrups which initially bummed me but after tasting the coffee I really didn't care. The coffee is delicious. Strong and flavorful. It was small, but excellent. The cookie and croissant were also good, but would have been better a bit warmer, at least room temp instead of cool. read more

*edit after owner responded* 5 stars for the coffee, it is excellent. They are a coffee shop so I should probably rate based on that anyways. Very smooth brew. I can see why it's rated to highly. I wrote my original review 1-Star review after having the muffin which was absolutely terrible. -10 for the muffin, genuinely one of the worst muffins I've had in my life, and I've tried "gluten free, non-dairy, vegan" muffins which were hardly edible. It was somehow incredibly crumbly and dense. It's VERY salty, I think something went horribly wrong with that batch. I made others try it and they gagged at the flavor. That being said, apparently they don't make the muffins themselves so there is no real way they could've know about it. read more

I ordered a dirty chai with decaf espresso. The shop didn't have chai but they did have London Fog so I ordered a dirty London Fog instead. I have ordered this from other coffee shops many times. The shop agreed to my order then chose to ignore my order and make just a London Fog. They stated they decided to this because it would taste better claiming they were "protecting me from myself". They offered to fix or refund the order. I had already waited 20 minutes and didn't care to wait any longer after they insulted me. I won't be back. You may not get what you order from here. A more appropriate response to this would have been making the decaf espresso and the London Fog separately and have me mix them myself. read more

We decided to stop on a trip and I am glad we did. The shop itself is small but there is a window to show the beans and roasting process in the back. I decided to get a flight which was cool and the nitro cold brew was great. The prices were fair and really just seemed like a good deal. I would definitely stop again. read more

One of my new favorite coffee roasteries! Colombia Don Ruiz - out of this world -- you must try this roast. Recently rebranded, they no longer offer coffee tours. However, be sure to try their coffee flight for a tasting of various brews. Everyone on staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about their coffees. Their baked goods are delicious as well. I tried the blueberry muffin, oatmeal raisin, and chocolate chip. Great space to enjoy a cup (or 5) as well as quiet place to work or collect your thoughts. There's seating outside as well, if you don't mind the road noise. They also have a drive thru if you're just passing through. read more

I usually wait a bit to post reviews, but I can unequivocally say that this is the best coffee I have ever had in my life. I'm actually sad to know this place exists since I'm going to crave it for the rest of my life. Good thing they ship beans. My family returned to this coffee place in June 2022 for a quick stop after our first visit in June 2021 (on a long return drive back to northern Virginia from Fayetteville, WV and the New River Gorge National Park). The name of this coffee place changed from Lexington Roasters to Roadmap Coffeeworks, but it's still provides an excellent option for ice coffee or an espresso drink. This time, I decided to pick up some coffee beans (Columbia Fudam Narino - light roast), which was delightful at home. The outdoor patio is dog-friendly (although it can be excruciatingly hot on a humid, midsummer day). The place has a simple but pleasant interior and clean restrooms. For folks driving between Blacksburg/Roanoke and points north along I-81, this cafe is an ideal pit stop as it's located about 1 mile away from the US 11 intersection with I-81 (northeast of Lexington, VA). Give it a try - you'll be pleasantly surprised by the superb quality of a cortado or regular coffee in this neck of the woods! read more

Taking off a star because the baristas were a little snooty. Everyone else seems like they have received friendly service, so maybe it was an "off" day? Or bc they could tell we weren't locals? They seemed like they were more interested in serving themselves coffee and talking to each other than serving us. One guy seemed like he didn't want to make eye contact with us. Hubs and I visited the area for the weekend to go to a sweet little farmstead and do some hiking. We saw Roadmap from the road signs and decided to grab some joe before our hike in Shenandoah. They made one of the most perfect vanilla lattes I have ever had!!! People have to love their jobs to make coffee that good. My husband said his macchiato was fantastic. A cute coffee shop in Lexington! My husband took our family on a surprise trip, and we found this place to drop by for coffee. THey have a drive-through, which is also really convenient. There coffee was delicious! We ordered a nitro and iced mocha. We were a fan of the iced mocha. Perfect amount of espresso and not too sweet. THe interior is a bit small for seating, but on nice days, I can see people relaxing outside. Highly recommend and hope to visit again one day! read more

I was very excited to have found this stop for coffee while we drove down to Alabama. The coffee was delicious and surprisingly the blend was The Kenya Blend. It wasn't like other Kenya's that I have had in the past. I found it to be missing some of the citrusy notes but it was delicious nonetheless. Lexington Coffee Roasters recently rebranded as Roadmap Coffeeworks. The name may be different, but they still serve up the same great coffee. They serve a range of brewed, hand brewed and nitro coffees in addition to expresso drinks. As a both a tasting room and an in-house coffee roaster, you can enjoy a hot cup of coffee in their seating area and then take some fresh coffee beans back home with you. With plentiful seating and free wifi, Roadmap Coffeeworks is one of my favorite locations for working remotely. There is also a dog-friendly patio with several picnic tables. I have no complaints but wouldnt mind if they expanded their snack menu to include some hot items in the future (paninis, breakfast sandwiches, etc.) read more

Stopped in when I saw the sign on I-81 and I'm really glad we did! It's just a mile off the highway. They have plenty of parking and a nice outdoor seating area. They have a few baked goods inside and some prepackaged food snacks as well. I appreciated that they had a room dedicated to how to make coffee and examples of different brew methods. We got delicious nitro coffees that were perfectly smooth and creamy. We also bought a bag of coffee to make at home (with our own burr grinder/chemex set up). Bottom line:This was a great way to break up our drive and it helped that there were gas stations nearby to fuel up before getting back on the highway! read more

Stopped here a few times now when driving to Roanoke from DC. Each time it gets better. These guys know what they are doing and enjoy sharing their love and passion for coffee. As a newbie to the coffee world, this place is so much more then just a place to get a good genuine brew of coffee, you can take a tour of well and learn the whole roasting process. Seriously I felt like I was in a coffee science lab, but with a cool, homey touch not like that science lab you remember from college. They have many different options and you can buy their roast there or join their delivery service and have it come right to your door. The staff was super friendly. They have a few items to munch on , but this is a coffee expert heaven. They do have some tables inside and outside to sit and relax at. If you are driving by it is well worth a stop. I'm no coffee snob and I can't describe a good cup of joe with a bunch of flowery adjectives. But if you're looking for some really fine coffee--this is the place to go or order from by mail! You pick your bean (I love light roasts so I choose an Ethiopian varietal from Kayon Mountain Farms) and the staff will grind it to order to match your preferred method of brewing. It's not cheap--12 ounces packets of whole beans go for about $18 up to $24-26 for their prize winning roasts. It only took one bag for me to discover it's worth it. I'm a cream and sugar lover if I stop at Dunkin' or McDonald's on my travels. But my Roadmap roasts so far have been so awesome I can skip my usual additives!! Smooth, never bitter. Now I look for excuses to take trips down I-81. It's a pretty roastery location, close to the interstate exit, with friendly helpful staff, clean restrooms and both indoor and outdoor seating if you want to take a break and sample a cup of the day's brew. Their recipes for the perfect cup are precise and not to be hurried. I consider Roadmap Coffeeworks my caffeine nirvana! read more

While chasing summer to Virginia a little pick me up was needed. Luckily this coffee roaster was close by our rustic cabin. They have all the correct espresso drinks one could want and the coffee is delicious! The espresso is very smooth. I ordered macchiato and I could probably drink 5 of them. The barista knew his beans and his way around La Marzocco. Definitely a place to stop if you find yourself on US route 11 in Lexington. read more

I was excited about this place after seeing all the five star reviews. Unfortunately, we were ignored by the woman who was clearly in charge, who was too busy talking to someone to acknowledge the six of us. She was also being degrading to the two girls that were working to make drinks. I know it's frustrating to train new employees but you don't have to belittle them in front of customers. Ending on a positive, my cold brew (made by one of the girls working under the boss) was excellent. read more

If you drink iced lattes, I would advise going elsewhere. Hands down the worst iced oatmilk latte I've ever had. You could improve by offering an iced latte like every other coffee roaster. What you try and label as an iced latte (cold brew) sucks!
