Briefly this has to have been the worst experience I personally have ever had in a so called local pub.
Too long a wait for food.
Others in the group wrong food served.
When mentioned to staff initially remedy's attempted.
Those remedies not satisfactory.
More waiting.
Apologies from serving staff. Who agreed that service etc. not good enough.
"Chef" (usually a 'plate stacker') came to apologize also. This woman's attitude was atrocious, rude and out of order
More things went wrong.
The manager didn't take too kindly to being told the service etc. wasn't up to scratch.
The bill was reduced due to one meal having been not good enough.
The bill was paid and we tried to leave.
The manager then accused part of the group of making previous complaints about Xmas. Which would have been difficult seeing as though they went to a totally different establishment for their Xmas meal.
A group of local sat around the bar ended up discussing the staff's dissatisfaction with our custom.
They laughed and joked. Seemingly without a care for the other paying customers, ie. us.
This all had been a very bad experience up until this point.
It had been a very hot day. And apparently due to the busy afternoon they had had lots of customers, orders etc this was why it was 'our fault' for not letting poor service etc. slide.
I personally was hot also so went outside at the front of the pub to cool off. I had a napkin and was wiping my brow to cool down.
Thinking that I would be nice I took the napkin back into the pub and placed it on the bar. I didn't want to litter.
I was greeted by the 'friendly locals' with ohhh you're back again.
On top of the abuse the sneering and laughing this was the last straw.
I responded saying something like I just thought I help tidy up the front of the pub from rubbish, making sure all the rubbish was inside the pub like you lot.
Maybe too far?
They thought so.
A number of them came towards me. One 'male' in a blue t-shirt fronted up to me forehead to forehead, nose to nose. Threats were made and the whole group of however many forced me and us out of the pub, and away from the premises.
I thought the attitude of the staff wasn't the best but these people seemed intent on physical violence. Not just one or two of them at least four or five if not more.
Whilst I can understand locals liking to protect their own pub.
Substandard staff, food and customer service should be something a business should look to correct.
Instead they let, and more than likely, encourage what was verging on GBH/ABH etc. this does not bode well for the future of Roaches Lock Inn.
Just a meal out for 2 couples, looking for good food, good booze and a pleasant attitude from all.
You don't get this at Roaches Lock Inn.
Wouldn't recommend even on my death bed which I came pretty close to earlier with the oh so friendly locals. read more
