She barely looked at the photo I showed her and then really did a very bad job of the nails. It was a simple base colour and glitter fade. She painted the glitter on and then tried to fade in the base coat. To say I'm embarrassed by the nails is an understatement. I'm new to Red Deer and am trying to find a nail artist I can trust. After being assured that the tech recommended was good as shaping gels, I booked an appointment. I was clear with the tech, prior to her starting on my nails that I was picky about the shape and that I want them built up with a curve. "Yes of course, I can do that". I had a picture open for her throughout the appointment. Continually had to ask her to add more product for shaping the curve, at one point she said she thought I wanted them thin, nothing I said even remotely hinted at that! Light pink nails, which were clear in the picture, were instead painted brown, nails themselves were, jagged, lumpy, crooked and quite frankly ugly. What's worse, after walking away unhappily and at the till...I'm shown what these god awful nails cost me...$109!!!! Extremely overpriced salon that has zero care in what the client...who is handing over their hard earned money, actually wants! I've attempted numerous times to have them rectify this, sent photos of the nails that I ended up spending 3 hours hand filing down, as they requested, and they are now ignoring my attempts. If you actually care about the quality of work that you are paying good money for then I strongly encourage you to NOT choose MLux Spa in Red Deer. There are many other techs that charge substantially lower prices for way better quality then you will ever receive at this salon.

It was nice that there is a Starbucks across the road so we could grab Starbucks before our pedicures. We were greeted at the front and 2 lovely ladies lead us back to the pedicure area. It is a small nail area, only 2 pedicure chairs but very quiet and private. I had the owner work on my feet and she was very informative and sweet. The other lady working on my friend does some AMAZING Japanese Nail art and we got a chance to look through her samples. Once I remove my artificial nails I will try her out for some great, unique shellac nails. Our pedicure was a standard pedicure, very clean. It costs $55. Most of the salons in central alberta are more on the pricier side (coming from Toronto you get used to the same pedicures but for $25) I want to try their facials there, will definitely return.

Here is the story; My friend and I booked in for two Spa manicures, the ladies who took care of us were wonderful! We paid extra to get Gel polish. The day after (today) My nail polish started to fall off. Not peel in bits.. I was loosing whole nails. Woke up with one gone, then lost another while doing laundry. Soon I was missing a pinkey. I called and explained what was happening - she said she would put a free services on my account. That was indeed the typical correction I expected. I explained to her that I don't live in Red Deer and the only reason we got it done there was because it is located between my friend and I. I am moving to Hinton, Alberta so we wanted to do something together. (My friend was the one who bought the gift card for us) I explained my situation to the Assistant Manager, Heather. And requested that the free service be given to my friend because I was not going to be able to use it and my friend lives in Lacombe and is in Red Deer often. She told me she couldn't give it to my friend because her nails were fine. So I explained again that I wasn't going to be able to use it. She repeated that the service had to go on my account and my friend could not use it. I was surprised by the repetition of her answer even though she knew I wasn't going to be able to use it. I didn't understand the reasoning behind the fact that I could not gift this service to my friend. (WHO PAID FOR ALL OF IT IN THE FIRST PLACE) Finally I asked if she was the manager, she informed me that she was in fact the assistant manager - she then proceeded to tell me that she would look into it and call me back tomorrow. Conclusion; Customer service is not top priority after you have gotten a service and it wasn't completely satisfactory. I have screenshot of the conversation between my friend and I - I send her pictures of my missing nails in WhatsApp before I even decided to call. I own a marketing agency - and one thing I cannot stand is poor customer service.

I picked the exact same colours I had on my nails already, and was told I couldn't do those colours because my nail would show through? Not sure how that's possible. I said I was happy with the shape, she changed it and now every single nail is actually a different shape. My cuticles and nail beds are raw and red, and I'm just not happy. I did pay and just leave because honestly what's the point? I'll just not go back. But save your money this place used to be great. I just paid like an idiot to have my coffin shaped nails shaved down into ... whatever this is? Lol
