with their $125 charge to give you an estimate, then they will charge you 3+ times what the actual work would cost...i had to turn the water on and off, and drian the lines, he replaces a (less than 2 ft copper section, and i had to go under the house to turn the water back on, he spent more time giving me the ourtagous estimate than he did the work, while adequate, not really proffessional (knd of sloppy), but did the job, for less than an hours work, doing the minimum needed, the total charge was more than 3 time the cost of giving a quote....crooks... read more

Stay Away !!! Installed my Mitsubishi Split System that worked for 1 season only. I Spent almost 10,000. Adding insult to injury they charge 79.00 which they waived to send a tech out to tell me what I already knew a leak in the system? They then want to change me 500.00 to find the leak. BEWARE!!! They do not back up their warranty and they are way overpriced. I had a guy come out to the home to give us an estimate on a new boiler, new water softener, and mini split units. I explained that I would like to get the boiler up and running for the winter, as we had 3 quarter of a tank of oil, and we wanted to use most of it up before replacing the boiler. He said no problem; I'll schedule for a guy to come out and see if they can get it running. The Tech comes out and was able to get the boiler running. He explained, if the boiler stops, just call and schedule, as it will be under warranty, as long as it's the part wrong. Not even a month, and the boiler went down again. I call the office, and the lady that answered the phone, tells me the same thing. If it's the same part, it's covered under the warranty. The guys come out and fix the same part again. Mind you, we had no issues with any of the repair guys, they were great. The guys call the office, and spoke with Nancy, who tells them we have to pay for the repair, it's not covered under the warranty. I wasn't going to argue and not pay, as we didn't want the Techs to get in trouble, but the Techs left and said they would deal with it on Monday. We decide to call and talk to Nancy, who had already left for the day. We asked the answering service to have her call us back to settle this, as we didn't want the guys to get in trouble. She sends a text message stating my husband threatened them, and she will be sending the money back from the first repair and will no longer do business with us. I responded to the text, that no threats were made, and every repair company has a labor warranty, and the parts also have a warranty. No response back. We did receive the estimates in the meantime, and I about choked when I saw the estimates. I know material is high in price right now, but they are taking your arm and leg too. I decided to call another company out of Lehigh Valley, for the water softener, and they were $7000 cheaper than RJ Groner. Also, the equipment that RJ Groner was pricing out for us, was not as good as this new company, either. Won't ever call them again for anything, but people need to know, they will rip you off if you don't question things or get other estimates. read more

Buyer Beware!!! There is no way that R. J. Groner deserves a high rating. We called them and told them it was an emergency. Leaking pipe in a cast iron baseboard heater, leaking onto a hardwood floor. I know this type of baseboard unit is no longer made. I gave them the measurement (8 ft), told them I needed the baseboard unit replaced if there was no way to repair it. So, out they came. Did not bring a replacement (special order, had to order it from the distributor, we don't carry them on the truck, need a different team to install a baseboard heater and on and on). Now, if they know I want that heater replaced or repaired, why would they not send the correct people to do the job in the first place? And why not avail themselves of the local plumbing distributor right in the area, not to mention Lowes and Home Depot, and pick one up before arriving? So, they arrive, they look at the baseboard unit. Essentially, they said, "yep, it's leaking." "That will be $125.00, please." Do they not understand the word "emergency"? Why not bring a new unit with you and be prepared to replace the old unit on that visit? We gave them all the info they needed to bring a baseboard 8 ft. run with them. But, no, if they have to come out again, they get to charge for the second, third, etc. visit. Then I called them and was on hold. They had a tape playing and my ears perked up at the statement, "never a diagnostic charge". When I questioned the woman who came on line, she said "that's if you have a maintenance agreement". Now, I never heard "maintenance agreement" on the recording. Maybe it is there and I missed it, but it really made me wonder... Now I have to wait for an estimate. Emergency!!!!!!! Estimate comes. $285.00 for a new baseboard unit I can buy at a box store for $126.00. (God bless the internet, consumers are not as ignorant as they once were, before info was at their fingertips.) Hydronic Leak Repair Level 3 - Isolate & Repair Major Leak - Includes Leak Repair, Boiler Drain Down & Refill, System Safety Check, Labor & 1 Year Worry Free Warranty. 854.00. Now, "fix" leak? They are replacing the whole unit. Isolate - easy to do just look at the damaged hardwood floor. We know how to drain and refill our system, we could have done that while they were buying the replacement unit. I could go on but I think this presents the picture adequately. Needless to say, I will NOT be using them at all. That 125.00 to tell me, yep, it is leaking was the first and last straw. Never mind that this EMERGENCY has to wait until the part is ordered, received, and the correct crew can be rounded up to actually do the work. If there were minus stars, I would have used that rating system. read more

I purchased a new HVAC approximately a year ago. I noticed that the upstairs was not getting cool. They came for a service call almost a month ago and nothing has been done. DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM HERE!! This is the worst experience that I have ever had. I am losing money because I can not rent out the house because there is no AC. Used them for years. Should have went to someone else long ago. First of all most times they came to service my system I would have to have a second person come out the next day to fix something the first person did wrong. Very annoying. some of the tech are great, others not so good. Last issue was tech came out for a spring service. Thought found a leak and called field supervisor out to verify. Both say yes with out doing a dye leak test. Field supervisor says will get quote for parts or a new system. Weeks go by and we call. Always say he is busy. Now no notes of any problems on my account. Almost a year later and nothing. If tech made a mistake then just own up to it. Don't just ghost your customer and then want $$ for service after that time. read more

Tried to scam me for 15k. Was able to get entire unit fixed for 2k. They also switched things off so the next guy i called would have an issue. Update: a man reached out to me on here saying I was never a customer of his. Perhaps if my married name was on here vs my maiden name he would know I was one of his customers. Tech came out... said i needed 15k worth if work and sat in my driveway while he called and waited for his "boss" to come. Ridiculous that you would even write that on here. So I scheduled another appointment to get that fixed. First appointment they cancelled on me. Second appointment they just didn't bother to call or show up. We've been doing business with RJ Groner for over a decade, and never had a problem they haven't been able to repair! More than one time I've needed emergency service and they usually had someone there within hours. This past Sunday, we had an ice/snow storm, and it caused a lot of power outages. Unrelated to the storm, Sunday night my water quit working. I called several Well Pump companies, and most didn't answer or couldn't make it for days. As a long shot, I took a ride to RJ Groner's office, and to my surprise, found that they also did Well Pump work. I never knew that, or they would have been my FIRST CALL! Even though they were short handed because of the storm, in less than 24 hours, they had a crew at my house, checked every component in the system, and replaced my 340' deep well pump! In less time than it took others to call me back, I had running water again thanks to RJ Groner! If I have a problem with heating, cooling or plumbing, they are, and will forever be, my go to company! I have and continue to recommend them to anyone I know that could use their services! read more

Had a small leak that was causing mold in bathroom ceiling downstairs...opened up the Sheetrock to find a small drip coming from the upstairs shower trap. Went to Angie's list and called 4 plumbing numbers. 1 called back and they didn't serve our area..too far away. Thankfully I didn't throw away the local yellow pages. Called 2 others and one came right away and said they would have to come back with help...the job was too complicated for him. I called RJ Groner and was told they'd be there the next day. Turns out they had a call next door! Ryan was quick efficient and had everything taken care of in a few hours. He was great! As far as cost goes, I can't say whether they're more expensive than any other company. I just know they showed up and fixed the problem. I had an appointment today Friday 2/22 to have my furnace cleaned. I was told on the phone that they had a special in the month of Feb. for a cleaning for $49.00. When the tech got to my home he told me it would cost me $139.99 to have my furnace cleaned. I said forget it that is not what i was told on the phone when I made the appointment. He did go into my basement and turned the switch off on my furnace and did not turn it back on when he left. I noticed my house getting cold and went into the basement to turn the switch back on. They installed a Miller central air unit. Contracted by Home Depot. The install was sloppy, to say the least. No insulation on the flex pipe, and shortly after the warranty ended we noticed a lot of condensation in our furnace. Turns out the swing damper was nonfunctional. Our furnace company discovered the problem while cleaning. Called groner, who informed me we were out of warranty and they no longer service our area. I was told they should have installed the damper on the initial install and most likely, the heavy condensation had been going on since the beginning. Called Home Depot, who contacted groner. Got nowhere. Woman kept shirking off the blame. Most unprofessional company I've ever dealt with. read more

Recently I have had to get estimates for repair of my plumbing through USDA... and I KNOW I will not be asking Groner, assuming I would get a free estimate from them anyway. I had a faucet set put in by them for my bathroom sink, including the drain part, which was at LEAST a 150. dollar job, which in my estimate was a little high, but I said "..at least it'll be done"... about four months later the drain plug let loose, and didn't latch on anymore---I mean it COULD've been the set I chose to put in, but I'm pretty sure that materials are pretty universal in plumbing, as a rule..,and I didn't call them to see about the problem, but I still won't stick my neck out again to call them, read more

I went through Home Depot to get a Quote for an electrical boiler installation, they put R J Groner in touch with me. I made an appointment to meet them a t my vacation home (100 miles away) and they spent an hour going through my home and discussing quotes, which we agreed they would get one to me for Electrical Boiler and also Ductless in the next two days. Anyway no quotes arrived and I had to contact them myself, then I get a phone call saying the director of the company refused to give an electric boiler quote ... but nobody decided to tell me and just left me hanging ... do NOT invite these people into your home, they will waste your time and just try to sell you a Ductless system which is all they do ... shame on Home Depot as well. read more

In all situations the products were installed by experience employees and the results have always looked professional and performed as specified. The propane furnace and hot water heater conversion from oil installed in my home has performed flawlessly and economically for over 7 years. I also like that they have emergency service and maintenance agreements. They have responded quickly to my calls for support of the systems at my Mom's home which is a comfort to me as I travel and need reliable people to respond when I cannot. Very dissatisfied with the service, the two technicians were not even certified. I was overcharged for an inspection when the technicians were unsure and did not know how to inspect the furnace. Have had multiple visits, the problem was not solved the first two visits. I called for a quote somewhere else and found out they were overcharging me for the parts.
