This area is a nature reserve that offers some pure nature hiking and noit much more. It received its designation as a Natural Area by the State in 1977. They have an adequate sized parking lot available. Some of the trail goes over natural marsh areas via a board walk. During my visit the boardwalk was removed, for repairs I guess and the trail was impassable at that point. Up to that point it was a nice and well-defined trail. The area spans 21 acres and runs along the Wolf River. I felt that I could easily get lost here, even though I could see houses at certain parts of it. Even though it is a "State" Natural Area, it is actually managed by the city of Germantown.
This place has a lot of potential for a person looking for a pure nature hike. It is also a very soothing and peaceful spot. I hope they take of what ever they are working on soon. read more
