I was visiting family and needed somewhere nearby to print out some documents on my own computer and the staffer who assisted me was the best, walking me patiently and expertly through the steps of their wireless printing service. She also didn't just point me to the copier but walked me through the steps for first time use saving me time and frustration from self-service figuring it out on my own. I'm grateful for this local community resource!

It is easy to get into the parking lot. The staff is professional and earnest in their duties. I had a very nice time here with volunteers recently. I stopped by to pick up some books to take with me to a community health fair I was attending. The volunteers were very helpful in getting me to the children's section, so that, I could pick out age appropriate materials. They had a wide selection and all in very good shape. This library is a great place to look for a job, study or do interesting things. They have plenty of items going on for the community as well.

Theses days, there is an ADA compliant addition including an elevator inside to all floors and one entrance with a ramp. I enjoyed the self-tour of the original historic section and they offer a full guided tour monthly (inquire at the front desk). I also utilized their home office supplies table (stapler, scissors, pencil sharpener, etc.) and their copy machine. There was plenty of parking during our visit on Friday afternoon in August.

The city used to celebrate heritage days in fine fashion but it has now been downgraded to a little weekend on the lawn type party. The shopping center that the city was named after is all but a ghost town. There are maybe 4 shops still in business and the city really really needs to help rebuild this historic area. Bad bad move throwing a Walmart right next to city hall. It just confirms the downfall of the area and provides the final death blow to any small business left in the community. Schools need a LOT of attention and need to be closed to outside districts. Student to teacher ratios are WAY too high. Open your eyes and look at your potential Southgate. This once thriving community is slowly declining but still has a lot of faithful residents who would love to see it grow again.

I had a new furnace put in on January 26th of this year, the company citywide did a poor job. I was told it needed to be wired up to code, a chimney liner needed to be installed, a gfi had to be put in and the inspections had to be done. The electrical inspector looked for a gfi and to make sure furnace was on the electrical panel. Didn't check to see if was labeled right didn't open the furnace to inspect the electrical inside, the mechanical inspector came out twice and didn't notice the vent on the cold air returns main register, wrong, plus why did a chimney liner permit get pulled and paid for but no inspection done, JUST A COMMENT OF I'M NOT CLIMBING A 42' TALL LADDER TO CHECK THAT. WHY DO I PAY FOR PERMITS IF YOUR DEPARTMENT DOESN'T CHECK WHAT NEEDS TO BE CHECKED. ALMOST 10 MONTHS 6 PHONE CALLS TO THE DIRECTOR TOO AND STILL NO RESULTS JUST A UNEMPLOYED DISABLED GUY TAKING CARE OF MY CHILD WHO NOBODY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT. I'M SICK OF GETTING TAKEN FROM THE PEOPLE WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO HELP YOU AND SUPPORT YOU BUT DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU AT ALL, JUST ANOTHER $ SIGN!!
