I had never hired a photographer for an event before, but my partner and I wanted to document our engagement--both for the memories and to share with family and friends. We planned to get engaged on Halloween, and as non-New Orleans natives, we had no idea where to start or who to trust. My partner found Nola Darlings through a highly complimentary Reddit thread, and we were immediately drawn to their work with LGBTQ+ clients and the stunning photos on Instagram. We reached out, and from the very first interaction, Ash was fantastic. Her communication was clear, positive, and thoughtful, and the contract process was seamless. From there, Ash went above and beyond. I took over communication to plan the proposal. My partner wanted to know when it was happening but still be surprised by how. I had an idea but no clue where to find the right person to help me pull it off. I shared it with Ash, and she not only offered thoughtful recommendations but actually helped me find the perfect person to assist with the setup and surprise my (now) fiancée. Ash also worked with me to plan out a route and suggested locations that matched the vibe we wanted. The communication--both with Ash and the person she recommended--was excellent. When it came time to execute the surprise, everything went perfectly, and Ash was right there to capture it beautifully. And perhaps most importantly, the photos are phenomenal. Ash made us feel comfortable from the start and chose locations that truly reflected the atmosphere we were hoping for. I'm a bit camera shy and rarely know what to do with my face or hands, but you'd never know it from the pictures. Ash offered just the right amount of direction and created flattering, low key bad-ass, shots that we absolutely love. All in all, 1,000 out of 10--highly, wholeheartedly recommend Nola Darlings.

Avery went above and beyond for my destination wedding in New Orleans. She is also based in NYC, where we live, so meeting up was easy. When you meet Avery, you will be warmed by her large smile, and within her photography, you can see her eye for detail and composition. As an artist myself, I was very picky about what kind of artist I wanted to use for my wedding photography- Avery specializes in street photography, which means she can catch beautiful candid moments all through your special day. Even those family members or those shy friends who are not photogenic- Avery will catch them smiling and smiling well! The day of my wedding was hectic, and Avery was as cool as a cucumber and quick as a tiger. We had this cool eye contact across rooms and it was like she could read my mind while trying to take family portraits and traditional wedding photos. When she arrived, it quickly became clear that she was not prepared. She didn't seem to know whether we wanted a civil or religious ceremony, despite having discussed this multiple times before the wedding. She also had no SD card, even though our package specifically included photos and a video recording. Because of her condition and lack of preparation, we made the difficult decision to have a friend officiate instead. After the wedding, we reached out to discuss a refund, since Samantha did not perform the ceremony, take photos, or provide video as contracted. She refused, saying she could have done the work using a Google link for photos -- something she never mentioned on the day of the event. The website and package we booked clearly stated that photos would be taken with her camera and uploaded from the SD card. Overall, our experience felt impersonal and unprofessional. It seemed like she hadn't reviewed the personal information we provided about our relationship, and the interaction felt more like an assembly line than a meaningful service. We would not recommend this vendor to couples seeking a reliable, prepared, and professional officiant for their wedding.

They will blame you for their mistakes instead of owning up then will ignore once you give evidence. Every appointment is something else. Either it's been canceled or delayed.. Pictures always take longer than most. After almost a month of waiting and after inquiring, they hurry up and send them over unedited. We decided to give her a try. We weren't disappointed! The whole experience was wonderful. The studio was great except for me having to climb stairs after a c section. The room was warm for our baby boy and she had Lavender I believe in the air for calming effects. Our baby slept through his session no matter how much she moved him. Her prices were a bit high, but you get what you pay for! We paid for quality!
