I had never hired a photographer for an event before, but my partner and I wanted to document our engagement--both for the memories and to share with family and friends. We planned to get engaged on Halloween, and as non-New Orleans natives, we had no idea where to start or who to trust. My partner found Nola Darlings through a highly complimentary Reddit thread, and we were immediately drawn to their work with LGBTQ+ clients and the stunning photos on Instagram. We reached out, and from the very first interaction, Ash was fantastic. Her communication was clear, positive, and thoughtful, and the contract process was seamless. From there, Ash went above and beyond. I took over communication to plan the proposal. My partner wanted to know when it was happening but still be surprised by how. I had an idea but no clue where to find the right person to help me pull it off. I shared it with Ash, and she not only offered thoughtful recommendations but actually helped me find the perfect person to assist with the setup and surprise my (now) fiancée. Ash also worked with me to plan out a route and suggested locations that matched the vibe we wanted. The communication--both with Ash and the person she recommended--was excellent. When it came time to execute the surprise, everything went perfectly, and Ash was right there to capture it beautifully. And perhaps most importantly, the photos are phenomenal. Ash made us feel comfortable from the start and chose locations that truly reflected the atmosphere we were hoping for. I'm a bit camera shy and rarely know what to do with my face or hands, but you'd never know it from the pictures. Then there's Sapphire Events. These women are so professional in the way they consulted us in the beginning, all the way to executing the day of! Most couples who gets married usually are skeptical about hiring a wedding planner because they want their wedding done their way. We were no different but after talking to Sapphire Events, we were confident that they were that good, to know how to help manage and execute but leaving plenty of elbow room for creativity! There were also many times that our wedding planner respectfully adviced us against some bad ideas and for that I thank her for it! Then there are also the times that we have stretched her to run with our ideas, like getting us a piano right smack in Audubon park. I was told by the pianist that she came up to him during an outdoor concert and asked him if he could make it happen for a wedding she was planning. Such a small world, the pianist turns out to be a friend of mine and we got our piano in the park (Thanks, Chase!) On the day of the wedding, everything happened like clockwork. I didn't have to manage anything because our wedding planner had it all lined up. I started looking for planners a few weeks ago, Sapphire was the first I looked into. Valerie was more than willing to meet with me via Skype, since we're planning this wedding from the West Coast. She was honest, sweet, and very accommodating to all of our ideas and vision. She said outright that our budget had no room for her rates and she wasn't going to waste our time, but that she would be more than happy to refer us to others who would be a better fit for us financially. When I still wasn't sure, I asked her for another, and she very quickly responded with another recommendation. I'm now confident that this event is going to be amazing, and I wouldn't have been able to do it without Valerie.

It's a big mirror, so you get to see yourself as it takes your picture, then you get to write messages on it with your finger that print on the photos and the photos also upload to their website, which is really cool. I like that it's similar to other booths in that they have a lot of props for your to play with and I enjoyed writing messages on the mirror and interacting with it. It also makes cool sounds as you are posing for the pictures. Pictures are high quality and the experience is fun!
