I just wanted to share how truly awesome Riverside Vet is. My kids and I had scheduled our first appointment there for our dog. Sadly, our sweet girl passed away the night before the appointment, and I had to call to cancel. We received a handwritten condolence card in the mail signed by the staff. That simple, thoughtful gesture meant more than they probably realize; it was so heartfelt and kind. When we're ready to welcome another dog into our lives, Riverside Vet will absolutely be our vet. Dr Amy is WONDERFUL! The front desk staff is beyond rude and has been consistently since we started using this clinic. I have boarded my dogs on numerous occasions and they have been covered in feces upon pick up and smell like their areas were never cleaned nor were they even interacted with. I stopped using them for boarding and now done with them for vetting. read more

They don't really get to the route of the issue, or listen to the owners concerns. I brought my dog to the vet twice for an issue, but it was not resolved within those 2 appointments. I took my dog to another vet the next day, and ended up getting the scan and medication she needed. There are better vets in the area that are more thorough I wish I would have known that before wasting two trips here. Disappointed in the service they failed to provide for my sick dog. read more

We moved to the Northshore a little over a year ago. We had always seen the same vet in New Orleans, but knew we needed to find someone closer to our new home. We live nearby, so we thought we might try Riverside. We hit the jackpot with this place. We take our two dogs to Dr. Munchausen and have nothing but good things to say. She takes her time with my nervous puppy, gives her special treats when she is being picky, and is always happy to answer my excessive amount of questions. Their app is very easy to use as well. She always makes going to the vet a positive experience for my Margaux. I will be scheduling an appointment for my cat very soon. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would for the front office staff. I believe the veterinarians themselves are competent professionals, but they lose a tremendous amount of business due to the inhospitable first impression and belligerent attitude of the front office. For background, the front office personal, aka they, were apologizing profusely to customers before my interaction and afterwards. They deliberately refused to fulfill our morning request after guaranteeing it several days and hours previous, became antagonistic, belligerent, and quickly adopted a very rehearsed us-against-them mentality. I offered several solutions to assist remedying their failure, but they were unapologetic and quite seriously the worst customer service experience I have ever had at a veterinarians' office. After leaving, I could not help but contemplate.. If this is how they treat people, imagine how they treat dependent animals when the professionals and owners are not watching.. read more

I've never been one to fight back or complain and normally just deal with what's been done but my last visit to this veterinarians office has changed that. I'm deeply disappointed with the lack of care or sympathy they have for their patients. My dogs are both now very uncomfortable with going to the vets and that says something in itself. We were seen by Dr. Maxwell last and during that visit things were done without my consent. Nothing was discussed where I could have said yes or no to what was being done. Now I believe this is misconduct and racking up the bill for people who aren't as educated, just like a car mechanic. This isn't about the money and we have the means to pay for these bills. But to pay for things that I never said YES to is where it's unacceptable. Our past vet will explain what they are doing before just putting needles into them or at least discuss options to see if you'd like to proceed with further tests or labs rather than just doing them. It bothers me to the core that I feel taken advantage of and my dogs were as well. I would highly recommend finding a different veterinarians office if you are at all worried about a salesman type of experience. Just be cautious I clearly wasn't and didn't know how to speak up once it was too late. read more

Been a client since 1995. Have had 3 Dachshunds...All had complete care at Riverside all their lives...Shannon, Jimmy and Paul are great medical professionals. Staff are well trained and caring. I now have a feral cat who "adopted" us who is an annual patient. If you ever had a feral cat, you know what I mean. They have handled this very difficult feline with care and ease. She doesn't like people..but tolerates the Riverside staff. My last old lady Dachshund, Lacie, 19 y/o. will get her check up tomorrow. I trust Riverside to guide us across the "Rainbow Bridge". Like most dog owners, I want nothing but the best for my four-legged fur child. Dr. Ritch and the staff at Riverside Veterinary hospital gives us just that! I am happy to have a vet that is so knowledgeable that I can trust. BE VERY CAREFUL. I've been going to this clinic for many years. NO MORE. My pet had a very specific issue that was very, very, very well documented in his file. Jim Maxwell on three occasions ignored the notes in the file and it put my pet in a very unsafe position. I believe this why he got injured. I would no longer see this vet because of this dynamic. So I started seeing Amy Munchausen. She knows FULL WELL about this same exact issue. She then goes to the absolute extreme and takes his issue to the next level which was super unsafe. I am angry, hurt and in utter disbelief at this behavior. I also received a blurry xray and a request for labs that never transpired, because of circumstances that this clinic could have easily remedied. BE VERY CAREFUL. read more

The front office staff at this place is truly awful. They are rude, condescending and seem to have no people skills whatsoever. This was upsetting to me because I thought the actual veterinarian was nice and caring. But the ladies in reception were so vile that I decided never to bring my dogs back there again. read more

Dr Jimmy Maxwell is AMAZING THERE! He has cared for ALL of my furbabies for over 12 years and truly is sincere in caring for my babies with the utmost love! As he knows my babies are MY KIDS and I love them dearly! In Dr Maxwell's absence Dr Amy Munchausen has also been excellent! They always return calls promptly and follow up on every procedure with a communication! In ADDITION, they expeditiously see my furbabies and listen to any/all concerns to help get to the root of the issue so my babies return to the highest quality of life possible! In addition, he and Dr Munchausen are equally supportive of the rescue babies in which I care! They get the same quality care and treatment as my own personal pets as they understand ALL LIVES MATTER! I cant THANK THEM ENOUGH for their love and kindness over the years! read more

I love my dogs and love my vets. I HATE this vet office. The 6 reception ladies in there are all extremely nasty and overstep the boundaries. The first time in the office I stood at the counter and waited 20 minutes to be recognized to for them to tell me, to hold for a few minutes (there was 6 different reception/office/techs there). 20 minutes to be greeted??? Ridiculous. I have been to this vet 3x now and am looking for a new vet in the area. I do NOT reccommend this vet office at all!!! Stay away!!! read more

I'm very surprised by the negative reviews. I start going to Dr. Maxwell in 2000 with my first dog until she passed away with bone cancer. After her, i adopted a German Shepherd and i started to see Dr. Shannon just because he was better with females. The office has always been helpful and i've had nothing but a positive experience with all doctors and staff. read more

I couldn't agree more S.G.! I'm new to the area and my co-worker recommended this hospital to me. When I first walked in, a lady greeted me pleasantly. I too saw Dr. Maxwell. Not only did I learn a few things but he also discovered an issue with my dog. As I was waiting to check out, a lady in front was very rude!!!!! I would like to know her name because she is the reason I am looking else where! Not only was she short with customers and made me feel uncomfortable but she was in my opinion unbearable with her co-workers. One receptionist did apologize for her behavior. I brought my 10 year old apparently healthy rat terrier here two months ago. It was time for her annual exam and vaccines. I worked as a veterinary technician at a clinic in Texas, so I know the typical procedures and what's necessary and what's not. I asked them to give the necessary vaccines, and I asked them to do blood work. At the clinic I previously worked at the veterinarians recommended yearly blood work especially on senior pets (over the age of 7). It had been two years since her last blood work and I wanted them to run some just to check on her. When I got there they took us into a room, checked her weight and heart rate and then left. The doctor came in looked at her briefly and then they took her to the back to give her the vaccines. I've never seen a vet not check their temperature and then remove them from the room to give vaccines. Both things made me uncomfortable and then on top of that the vet told me she was a healthy dog and she didn't need to have blood work. Fast forward two months and I just had to put her to sleep because she had a large cancerous mass on one of her vital organs. Her red blood cell count was 8, it should be 40-50. This could have been prevented if this vet would've done blood work like I asked. And not assumed she was healthy without even performing a full exam. read more
