Inside you will find a Post Office which is generally busy with all the local residents. The shop is well stocked and there are all the usual spar deals to be had. I noticed too when I was in recently that there is now customer toilets which is something that was frequently asked for. The layout of the shop is good, so if you're just popping in for a few bits and pieces or doing a larger shop you'll most certainly find everything you need without paying over the odds.

Well, mine was perfectly explicable. My mouth was dry and I needed something to chew. Good enough reason I suppose. My friend reminded me that there was a petrol station at the top of the Ballyholme Road, which I happened to know was a Maxol Station, despite the fact I'd never been before. Apart from the obvious dilemma that I don't drive, I wouldn't pay Maxol stations a visit anyway, as the petrol is way too expensive. But anyways. The two of us dandered up and dropped into said Maxol station for the required gum. There were two guys behind the till having a bit of a chat, looking bored out of their minds despite the awesome (!) rave music playing on the radio. I looked at my friend, who had also noticed the dance tunes, and made a few dance movements for the banter. Cos I'm funny like that. Apparently there's no escaping the trashy music on a Friday night... I picked up a packet of my favourite chewing gum, handed it to Mr Bored No. 1. He scanned it, and informed me it was 47p. 47p! I'd just been had. So, if you fancy some hard core rave music on a Friday night, and overpriced chewing gum, you know where to head...

I have shown ID here for 6 months, and on the nights I don't have it, they know that I am 22, they even know my date of birth! But when a new girl asked, I retorted if there were any staff who'd know my face over six months, and she responded that I was only liable to her, despite seeing a member of staff I knew from the staff bakery area see me. The arrogance scared me and I left straight away. Most people get to know faces, especially with anxious people with social anxiety disorder, but not this particular member of staff. While I'm waiting on being able to pay for a new passport, I just can't go back. Humiliated and upset.

You'll find it has most of the goodies, drinks, household items and magazines that you would expect it to have. In the past they have had a couple of thefts in the shop from some youths with nothing better to do and at the counter where you pay they have some pictures taken form CCTV footage of youths stealing. I used to enjoy jokingly enquiring every week how the investigation was progressing!!! At the end of the day, most of us need petrol. For me I like to pay as little as I can when i fill up.

It was en route to work at the time and seemed to have the best prices. A couple of years down the line it still has the best fuel prices and remains very busy. Likewise shop part is unchanging, just a limited selection of food and household items. You can always get a pint of milk in this one, but most certainly not anything healthy like fresh fruit or vegetables, but really, that's fair enough for a filling station first and foremost.

The wee shop her is actually quite good and stocks everything you will need for a wee snack or to grab a drink and a sandwich to take on a long car journey. It has a good selection of papers as well, which is really handy because you don't always want to go all the way into the big Tescos to pick up the Sunday papers. I have found that the produce is mostly local and the freshness of it is first class. There is a butchery department in store and the meat is off excellent quality. There is a small sub post office on the premises which operates 09.00-17.00 Monday to Friday. It is possible to do your weekly shop in this store as I have observed some people do and the amazing thing is that the prices compete with the larger supermarkets! I am all for supporting our local stores especially when you can buy such good quality produce.
