Before I continue my review, I would like to state that this is a review of 1 Doctor, not the…read morestaff. The staff is kind and understanding and very polite. On 11/18/2024 I was taken to the ER by ambulance for breathing problems that had been going on for 4 days at that point. I have an extensive cardiac history amongst other health issues: Coronary artery disease Congestive heart failure Unstable angina Vasculitus Anemia Hypothyroidism History of myocardial infraction Peripheral arterial disease Hyperglycemia Hyperlipidemia Atherosclerosis of Arota Left cariod artery stenosis Kidney disease stage 3b Anxiety Depression Asthma Gastric ulcer Diverticulitis disease of colon While in the ambulance they put me on oxygen which helped alot. When I got to the ER I asked several time to have some oxygen and I was told no several times because my oxygen level were fine. Didn't matter to them that it help me regardless of the reading. They did a CT scan and an xray and saw nothing. The ER Dr suggested I be admitted for observation because the reason for the breathing wasn't presenting itself easily. The hospitalist, Dr.Dumbass, aka Dr. Nardow ( If thats how you spell it ) decided to say it's an anxiety/panic attack. Ordered a breathing treatment and Ativan ( thru my IV ) . For those that don't know, Ativan makes you tired, so of course it's going to help calm things. Who on earth has an anxiety/panic attack that lasts 4 days. I was sent home with no referral to a cardiologist or pulmonologest. This morning I woke up again having problems breathing. I called the er 3 times today for the name of the hospitalist who sent me home and all 3 times no one would help. I was told to call hospital records. Tonight I got an email letting me know that I have new test results on the patient portal. My B-type Natriuretic peptide was 150 which according to the site, is high. I was not told that at all. Dr. Dumbass chose to ignore telling me about it because it has been high in previous tests. Wouldn't consistently high results mean something? Dr. Nardow should be fired. I am never going to this hospital again and I will be filing a formal complaint and contacting a lawyer.

I had lost track of where I had parked it and I was so tired and with the storm, ( it wasn't a pleasant experience), but anyway, everyone was very helpful helping me try to find the right building and so forth. A young man, BRIAN,( a tall and bearded ) was a sweetheart, he told me where to go and finally poor thing decided to take me right where I was going. He didn't have to do that, he was working but what a kind and thoughtful young man to be so nice to a befuddled old woman. I appreciate all that he did. I wanted to give him something for his troubles, but wouldn't take anything ( I only had a credit card, but would have gotten something for him). Thank you once again Brian, you were raised the proper way. Your hospital has a terrific employee working for you, (raise time). My son operation was a success and feeling ok today, sore of course. They will lie to you. anything they have to do to cover up very low quality care as long as they are getting money they do not care about you. This is a business. It's not a care facility. their business plan is as fast and cheap as you can do it and charge the maximum amount. (I am so nervous about surgery) The patient registrar, nurses, and surgeon were GREAT! I know hospitals rub most people the wrong way. But these people were compassionate, reassuring, respectful, and above all professional. I can't thank them ALL enough for their kindness, amazing customer service, and accommodating spirit. Our lives are in the hands of these skilled people when visiting, so having this experience would make me definitely recommend returning for any future surgery's, emergencies, or procedures. Our mother has been in this hospital since February 25th. She was kept in ICU until she was well…read moreenough to be transferred. She has been given the best treatment possible. She was moved out to a regular room on March 2nd. She is still receiving the best care possible along with physical therapy. The staff members are highly qualified, friendly, respectful and the best staff members in the Hampton Roads area. We would not want our mother to be in any other hospital. I should have known because there were so many First Atlantic Restoration trucks there. They didn't tell me what was going on at Leigh. They just said a major incident. I found out what was going on when I got to Brock.

I work in healthcare and I know it's not easy but this place sounds like it needs a visit from the health department. Dirty, not clean, staff do not listen to patients needs, my son came home with the flu and while he was there they did nothing to help but Tylenol. they also leave a bunch of men in one room with nothing to do if they are short staffed. make them wake at 6 am and then lock them out of their rooms until after evening meds. the psychiatrist comes over a zoom call everyday. how on earth can they actually get to know their patients. On my sons discharge papers it said I had a family meeting with Dr Simon and the team. that was a lie. they wouldn't let me talk to Dr Simon. the only one I spoke to was Diana and she was nice to me but it seemed truly horrible to be a patient there. who was his team , did they take therapeutic walks outside , have cognitive behavioral therapy like the website said ? only 2 bathrooms and I heard they were gross. you all brag about your facility , but you should be ashamed. I will make it goal of mine to contact the health department because I work for a health facility that also has a mental health facility, and it's nothing like this. Leadership should be ashamed. these are individuals that need help. and they don't seem to care about the safety of their patients.
