Rivers Edge was just what was needed to start off a day that included a paddle on the river, a long-ish motorcycle ride, setting up camp and finishing with the laborious task of drinking a lot of beer. Eggs over easy, well done hash browns and of course, bacon. All whipped up while the lone employee on duty tended to four other patrons at the bar, a table of more than a half-dozen locals and several booths....not to mention a phone that seemed to ring only when she was on the other side of the room from it. Disappointing. 1. Did not have the food available advertised. But ok, no big deal. 2. No substituted offered for items that weren't available. 3. Ordered a beer, 25 minutes later I needed to ask for it. 3. The order came roughly 45 minutes later for a family with 4 small kids without any updates between. This was an easy order consisting of burgers and chicken strips for the most part. Some of the worst service I've seen in some time. read more

The place looks amazing from the outside. The service was pathetic. The bartenders sit in a corner and could not care less if you need a refill. The waitress never came back to check on us and we ended up needing to ask for our bill. The ribs were cold and my fries were soggy. The wait was about 1 hour and there were only 3 tables of people. At least we all got our food at the same time. The table next to us got one plate at a time and some were done eating before others even got their plate. Never again! read more

I live about an hour away and we go here at least twice a month. LOVE the entire environment. Bar on one side with a bunch of locals sharing their stories for the week. It's USUALLY pretty busy on Friday nights...you may have to wait for a table if you aren't lucky. We LOVE the staff. The waitresses are almost ALWAYS super awesome. We harass them and they throw us a smile. The food is ALWAYS great and we have come to love the salad bar so much that we are thinking about ordering that ONLY and not the meal because that alone is filling. It's got a good variety, 2 soups and always a couple choices of homemade dessert! Last time we ate the owner came and asked us how our meal was and if we needed anything. It's nice to see owners getting more involved these days! Oh, and the drive by Wildcat mountain is beautiful to say the least. Coming from Hillsboro to Ontario. Highly recommend. (P.S. If you are one of those people that complain a lot I'm sure you can find something wrong with every place you visit.) THIS place is TOP NOTCH for a bar/restaurant scene. read more

After a morning of kayaking lunch at the Riversend Bar and Grill is a must! There is a full on BBQ going on outside. Best damn BBQ I've ever had!! Meat literally falling off the bones. Pull tabs for entertainment. Ollie, the dog, working as the greeter. Wait staff was totally attentive and on top of things. Great music! Great food! read more

The food was fantastic! My 3 grilled shrimp kabobs, French fries, and salad were all very good. Perfect in fact and the salad was very crisp. The waitress was really nice and efficient. Found Rivers End while hunting for breakfast on a Friday morning. It was THE place in town, with locals wandering in the whole time we was there. I had stayed at nearby Wildcat Mountain State Park the previous night, and despite my campfire cooking wizardry the previous night, I was hungry for some sustenance for the day's canoeing and motorcycle riding. Rivers End didn't disappoint. Just one spunky girl working the entire place, including the grill, and she didn't disappoint. Prompt with what we needed, on a first name basis with the locals, and worked up some serious french toast and over easy eggs in the meantime. Had a great chat with the locals around the bar and left happy. A great small town bar - exactly what you'd expect, and nothing more. read more

This place is your typical small town bar and grill. My paddling club came here for Friday fish fry. $8 got me one sizable piece of fried cod with a baked potato plus salad/soup bar. The offerings on the salad bar were pretty limited (common for a place like this), but the chicken noodle soup was just the thing for my cold. Overall I felt satisfied, but $9 with a can of soda is at least $1 more than I felt the meal was worth. Service was a little slow. Our orders were taken quickly but we waited about 20 minutes for our entrees beyond finishing at least two trips to the salad bar each. read more

Excellent Friday fish fry, delicious cod beer battered or broiled, one ($7.95) or two piece ($9.95) or "all you can eat" ($11.50) with salad bar and choice of potato (including sweet potato fries), Cod was perfectly cooked with a nice light crispy batter that wasn't greasy or too salty. The salad bar was quite good and was arranged comically on top of the plywood covered pool table, which was an efficient and creative use of space. Only bottled and canned beer but they do offer New Glarus bottles for only $3 which is a bargain. Friendly service even though they were very busy. The place looks pretty seedy on the outside, but inside it is like a typical Wisconsin bar that is family friendly (at least on Fridays for the fish fry). Overall a real "diamond in the rough" find that gives a nice view of very small town America. read more
