I felt that my concerns about racial harassment and discrimination involving children of color were not taken seriously. In my opinion, there was a lack of transparency and accountability from the administration, and I often felt that issues were minimized rather than addressed. I also felt that many staff members had close personal or family ties to the church community, which made it difficult for families outside of those circles to feel heard or supported. While the school presents itself as welcoming and student-focused, my experience was very different. I felt that promises made to our family were not honored and that tuition became the priority over the well-being of students. Based on my experience, I would encourage families--especially families of color--to ask detailed questions, pay close attention to how concerns are handled, and make sure the school's values align with their own before enrolling. At the time of this review, my kids are 6 and 9 (1st and 3rd grades). Both have attended the school since Kindergarten. My 6 yr old also attended Pre-K at Holy Redeemer. We were first drawn to HRS for its reputation in our neighborhood as being a welcoming school with a firm anti-bullying stance. The teachers and administration work hard to maintain a supportive learning environment where students feel welcome and wanted. What sets HRS apart from other area schools is its small class sizes, its balanced and integrated STEM curriculum, and its committment to developing the whole person. HRS students are some of the nicest kids I have ever met -- kind, excited about service opportunities, curious about their world, eager to help each other, excited about math! The teachers here are incredible educators that encourage collaboration and inspire a joyful curiousity in their students. What I love most about the school is how the teachers (due to the small class sizes and their tenure at the school) really know and look out for my kids. This personal attention has really helped my kids to thrive -- both academically and personally. I also work in a STEM field, and the administration and teachers are very open and receptive to my recommendations of activities/extra-curriculars. They have also granted me many opportunities to share my organization's work with the students - which is so fun! While walking my dog, I noticed how well-maintained and family-friendly the grounds were. I could hear the school intercom during what sounded like a summer program activity, possibly a rock-paper-scissors tournament, which created a fun and positive atmosphere. The park itself offers plenty of options for children and families, including playground equipment, swings, slides, basketball and tennis courts, and educational nature signs featuring local wildlife information. The grounds were clean and well-kept overall. The only area that appeared to need some attention was portions of the foam safety surface beneath the playground equipment. My dog and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to returning. Bowie continues to impress as a community that is welcoming to both families and pets. Adult swings and plenty of places to set for lunch our gold drink.

When I drop my child off, I'm greeted by every staff member and they know my child by name including the principal. The staff engages me in his educational goals regularly and keeps me up to date on all changes to help meet these goals . Lastly, I love that even if my child shows up with a scratch at school, they call me. It might sound like a lot for some parents, but this reassures me that he's an environment that prioritizes safety and attentiveness to each individual child.

In those 10 years, that went way too fast, there was never a day after dropping him off that I worried about his well-being, safety, education, social interactions, Christian development, or overall happiness. The very reasonable tuition was money well spent. Would that these reviews had no word limits. I would go into depth about our experiences in each grade. Everything begins with a stellar staff. From my very first interaction with the pre-k teacher and aide on my son's very first day of school ever, I was put at ease. From day one all the way through 8th grade graduation, I felt blessed to have found this gem. When we were there they offered hot lunch every day, before and after care, field trips, summer camp, CYO Athletics, a super fabulous science curriculum, and weekly Mass. With hindsight now I can see that St. Ambrose prepared my son for the rigors of high school with its looming academic and social challenges. St. Ambrose helped my son become a better student and a young man who lives by the Gospels but never too preachy. He made lifelong friends and had soooo much fun while learning. Many faculty members are parents of current students and/or alumni, so they care deeply about the school and it shows. The small community builds a priceless sense of safety and trust. My 4-year-old knew middle schoolers by name, and they were always kind role models to the little ones. Many parents are neighbors, so I knew someone would have my back if I had a drop-off or pick up emergency, or forgot show-and-tell day! The admin is hardworking, resourceful, and receptive to parent feedback. Our family is blessed to have St. Ambrose as our church and school.

We were unable to get him into public school because of his birth date. But, once my husband and I visited the school, met the teachers and learned more about their curriculum and teaching methods, we knew that not being able to send him straight to kindergarten was a true blessing in disguise. My son is very bright and has excellent communication skills. So, I didn't realize that he just wasn't ready for kindergarten at that time. But, within a month at Corkran, my son showed tremendous improvement in his writing and phonetics and other skills that are essential for kids to succeed. Corkran is a fantastic place for a child to learn--and the Christian emphasis is an added benefit. The only reason I shorted them a star is the fact that they close at 5:30 and trend to close for the whole week during every major holiday. This could present a problem for some working parents. Other than that, they're awesome! I highly recommend!

I think the school is beautiful and does a great job with marketing. However, I noticed that my son did not learn much. They told me that they use the Univ. of Maryland bilingual curriculum. My son did not learn basic numbers or alphabets in spanish,or much else. The center is also located in a professional building. My son had some behavioral challenges his second year there. He was fine the first year. I believe the owner was more focused on the noise level and the "image" of the school. I removed my son and placed him in a small bilingual center. He learned spanish numbers, colors and alphabet within about two months. His current teacher does not have any issues with his behavior and he loves school. Arco staff was friendly and professional, however I am not confident that they are up for the challenges of bilingual education of young children.

We moved here as a military family so we have seen several schools in many states. At CHA they have amazing, loving teachers with small class sizes. We have 2 kids at CHA and the kids have flourished in academics there! They are challenged with the curriculum at CHA. CHA is not a common core school which is such a relief. Its so refreshing to see our kids learn the same we did growing up:) Our kids have grown so much in their faith while at CHA and we are beyond blessed to fond such a loving school here!

She went day one and was a little reluctant to leave me husband and I, but by the end of the day when it was time to go home she refused to leave and have been wanting to stay daily after school. The summer camp is very proficient and well planned out. The have been going on a lot of trips that are included in tuition. The trips are not limited to just having fun but also things like museum's for history knowledge to our young people. I tilt my hat off to all the staff at Clinton Christian School to accepting my daughter to the family and making her feel at home away from home. I am excited and looking forward to great successful upcoming school year.

She not only taught my daughter how to play the violin, but to also read and write music; very impressive! We had bus service for morning pickup. Always on time, friendly driver who always provided a warm greeting. We had aftercare, so I picked her up. Unfortunately, during pickup my daughter would almost be in tears. I generally had to wait until the last kid left before she would want to go home. I didn't want to force her to leave her friends and go home to no child to play with. I always received assurance from the teachers that everything would be fine. They were. This is a top-notched school who cares about their students and their learning process. Although my daughter is much older, I had to circle back and give this review. Every dime I spent on my daughter's education, care and spiritual guidance given at Clinton Christian was well worth it. Anytime your child clings to her teacher at the end of the school year because she's going to miss her says a lot.
