Stop my beating heart! The CUTEST cafe inside an adorable, log cabin lodge! Our server (I don't remember her name) was so fantastic with menu help and knowledge of the local area. She told us where the town moose hangs out, confirmed that we DID INDEED see pelicans and gave us the best hospitality! The food was delicious! I had the salad with grilled chicken and it was ENORMOUS! Like a serving platter of salad with 2 perfectly cooked chicken breasts on it. My husband had a burger and salad and same thing, 10 gold stars!

The ambiance is beautiful, it's the cutest little cafe. I ate there the entire week I was visiting Walden and I cannot say that I regretted anything I ordered. I will say my absolute favorite order had to be the Biscuits and gravy!!! OMG I have never had such amazing biscuits, they were lightly grilled and that just made them even more perfect than they could have ever been. The service was wonderful as well, I wasn't too hungry, so the waitress suggest I order a side of gravy and side of biscuit and that was the perfect serving for me. I loved everything about this place. Highly recommend.

16oz prime rib dinner

Host refused to seat us at a booth as request in an almost empty restaurant making dining with our almost 3 year old that much more difficult. Potato soup, fried shrimp and server were good. Prime rib was so-so, baked potato was not done, and sweet potato wedges were greasy. We timed our drive through Walden to eat here, but won't do so going forward.

Such a cute place! Stopped in driving through to Estes park. Took some updated menu photos.

Cod Basket special with sweet potato wedges and tartar sauce

On the main floor of the Antler's Inn in Walden, Colorado is the rustically charming River Rock Cafe. It's arguably the best restaurant in town, with a variety of meals at different price points. The location on Main Street had parking in front as well as on the side. Our visit on a Friday evening found the restaurant quite busy. The hostess was friendly, and our server, Karen, was cheerful despite being the only server. (Like many businesses, they're having staffing troubles.) The dining room was cosy and lively with 70s rock music, but not enough noise to impede a conversation. Decor is timber and river rock, that suits this small town in North Park. The special today was a cod basket ($10.99) - two pieces of fried cod that tasted fresh, served piping hot, with choice of sides--we both selected sweet potato wedges. Our beverages were kept filled, and Karen was happy to send us off with to-go cups. We didn't choose dessert--but peach, cherry or blackberry cobblers sounded wonderful.

Very Good food! I ordered the chipotle burger (medium) & cup of green chili. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Nice, quiet little hunting town.

Excellent Food and Service in a Very Busy Estes Park Favorite…read more Executive Summary: A fantastic dinner with fresh, well-executed dishes, strong cocktails, and outstanding service. Easily a 5-star experience and highly recommended. We booked a 6:00 p.m. Sunday reservation through Resy and were seated immediately. The restaurant was very busy, which felt like a good sign. One thing to note: parking is VERY difficult. You may need to park kitty-corner at the grocery store lot and walk across. We started with the Beets & Bibb salad, which was outstanding--fresh, thinly sliced crunchy beets, crisp dried chickpeas for texture, grapes for sweetness, and a honey vinaigrette with just enough acidity to balance everything. The cornbread arrived warm and freshly baked with black garlic butter. It was light rather than dense and very enjoyable. For an entrée, the Carnivore was excellent. Both the elk and petite filet had a beautiful sear and were cooked perfectly to temperature, accompanied by a flavorful reduction and seared broccolini. Our second entrée was the trout with a side petite filet. The fish was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. By the end of dinner we were far too full to try the desserts, although they looked tempting. We also had a couple of cocktails--strong, flavorful pours. Our server, Ian, was friendly, efficient, and attentive throughout the evening. Excellent service despite how busy the restaurant was. Overall, Bird & Jim delivered great food, great drinks, and great service. Highly recommended--5 stars.

The cocktails are always spectacular and creative. We love the trio of spreads, smoked trout, pimento cheese and hummus. Bring your wallet and be prepared for the significant price tag. That being said, i have never seen pheasant chowder on a menu or hanger steak ravioli. Give this place a try, I think you'll be glad you did.

The beer was so nice I ordered the same one twice!…read more I put in 20 miles hiking Rocky Mountain National Park in a day a half. I slept about 4 hours the night before to make it early for sunrise. To say that a few tasty beers were what the doctor ordered would be the understatement of the century! None of this matters, of course, to the good folks at Rocky Cut Brewing Company. This is off the main drag of Estes in an unassuming strip plaza. Humble vibes inside, a simple U-shaped bar top with seating all around, a few smaller tables, a community table, and a large patio with mostly picnic table seating. If you're lucky, snag a stool right along the Big Thompson River! Though, I recommend they fix the wooden placeholders for beers, they're leaning on the wrong side of history, we don't want any full glasses of beer reaching an unnecessary demise! Interference IPA * American IPA * 6.7% * 16oz ($7) From their website: "Climbing the Interference Boulder in Rocky Mountain National Park requires strength and power. This Colorado IPA showcases the power of hops with an intense blend forging citrus aromas with a pine forward finish. Featured ingredients: Cascade, El Dorado, Mosaic, Chinook, & Simcoe hops * Recommended adventure: hiking Black Lake, climbing the Twin Owls, skiing upper Hidden Valley." A perfectly apt description. I would summarize this beer just as they did, focusing on hops, citrus, and pine. Absolutely delicious, a memorable IPA in recent memory. I liked it so much I ordered it again and it tasted just as delicious the second time down! They also had a food truck outside, so safe to assume they do this often. Would love to try more of their beers during my next visit. Rock Cut, I see you!
