Not fancy, small but full of good vibes with cool folks who are both visitors and locals. The Norway vs England match was on quietly with a talented guy playing guitar and singing all kinds of classics. The audience cheered the game and sang along. The food was decent but the drinks weren't cheap. I tried the Portugués cherry cordial; good flavor but not strong. Five star time but the Cole slaw was not seasoned and bathroom was nasty so -1. Still a really good time with the coolest waitress--encouraging the crowd, funny, friendly, quick and working alone.

The sound quality is always excellent, and the musicians never fail to please. I've seen techno, electronic, indie-ballads, and more at this wonderful, intimate venue. If MusicBox's single bar was well stocked, I would give this place five stars. Unfortunately, the drinks are a bit boring and overpriced. That being said, entry is always quite affordable so you can afford to spend a bit on drinks if you haven't had enough pre-drinks outside.

My friend and I stumbled across it while trying to find something to do in the evening time that was a little more upscale than the party street scene. This establishment had a mix of dancing and socializing. So it was the best of both worlds. The service was a bit confusing but my friend and I just opted to order from the bar instead of waiting to see if a waiter would come. As it does get packed! Luckily they had two bar set up's in separate parts of the establishment which helped. I'd recommend going to the bar stand set up in the back as that guy didn't get as busy as the main one in the front. This would be cute for a date night or hanging with friends. People kind of kept to themselves so I'm not too sure how it would be for a solo traveler.

HCP is Portugal's oldest jazz club, and I finally found my way there on the last day of my stay in Lisboa, a Tuesday evening. Concert of the night (they have concerts almost every night - some free, some not) was a series of examination recitals from students of a local jazz school. 50% of the audience in the small room was friends and family to the musicians, and the rest seemed to be genuine jazz lovers. The atmosphere was relaxed and the performance from the young musicians was impressing. The bar menu is very basic and fairly cheap, I had a glass of port wine for 3€. The staff was friendly and happy. HCP is a must visit for any jazz lover in Lisboa.
