I needed a digital photo to renew my passport. I haven't gotten one since back when my passport was first issued, and had no idea what had to be done. Fortunately, a Google search directed me to CVS. A CVS clerk directed me to Ryan. And Ryan handled the multi-step process as smoothly as anyone could ask. Ryan probably does this so often that he considers it no big deal. It was. I'd already been to another business which supposedly offered the service; turns out it didn't. So it was a pleasure to work with an employee who knew his business, did it efficiently, and was mighty friendly while doing it. There's plenty of pharmacies around Traverse City. Ryan and employees like him are CVS's competitive edge.

This is a mixed review. I have been a customer of Deering's…read moremarket since a teenager, so well over 20 years I have frequented this establishment. I'm not sure if times have changed the attitude of recent staff, with covid essentially putting most people on edge and stressed out, but as of yesterday was the first time I was treated with less than impressive service. I've always been greeted with warm and friendly smiles, when a person wasn't required to wear a mask, obviously, and always a welcoming hello from the gentlemen that run the store. I noticed there was now a female employee. I walked in with my son, we both had masks on, my son even had gloves on, because that's what makes him feel safe. The place was a bit busy, so we didn't receive a greeting upon entering. No biggie. My son and I picked out some gum, and weaved through the aisles. We were on our way to a playground, on foot, so I had a rolled up kite visibly sticking out of my purse. I'm not sure if this put the female employee on edge, but everywhere we went, she was only a few feet away, staring at us. We picked out some drinks, and immediately after she walked over to where we got our drinks and opened the door, like she was doing inventory. Then we waited in line to check out. She refused to go to an open register and check us out, as we waited behind someone else that was paying. The reason I come to this conclusion is because while we were waiting in line, some young man walked through the door, went to the same area we picked out our drinks, then stood in line behind us. She immediately ushered that guy over to check him out, even though we were in line before him. She glared at me specifically the entire time I was in the store. Pretty unbelievable and a bit confusing, as I felt like I was being profiled and somehow discriminated against. Maybe it was just in my head, but sometimes intuition proves otherwise. I still love and respect the establishment, but that woman needs a serious attitude adjustment. I'm not sure if it was simply because I was a young female, or what the deal was, the kite I had in my purse, maybe unsettled her...doesn't matter. I did nothing wrong. I've never been stalked throughout the store like that before. I'll still be happy to give my service to the store, it was just rude behavior on her part that I never have experienced before there.

During the morning of January 6, 2026, the employees at the Meijer gas station at 3965 U.S. 31…read moreSouth, Traverse City, Michigan were aware of service problem which was also a fire hazard, but did nothing about it. Specifically, the fuel nozzle trigger for Pump 12 was damaged such that gasoline flowed very slowly: it took over eight minutes to pump fifteen or so gallons into my pickup truck tank. (I didn't realize this until minutes into the pumping, at which time I just decided to keep doing it.) Though that was a nuisance, the serious problem was this: because fuel pumped so slowly, the automatic shut-off device didn't trip when the truck's tank was full. Instead, the gasoline slowly overflowed the filler neck, then dribbled out the small drainage hole by the neck onto the pavement. I didn't know that until I looked at the pumped gasoline total and realized it was more than could have possibly gone into my truck's tank. Perhaps as much as a gallon of gasoline ended up on the pavement. The fire risk was probably low: the pavement was wet with slush and snow. However, had the gasoline drained across a hot component under the truck, it might have ignited. I went into the gas station and told the clerk about the problem. To my astonishment, she calmly said she knew about it, and mentioned something about telling a manager later. The question is this: why didn't a Meijer employee go to the pump when they learned about the problem, cone off the pavement beside the pump and cover the nozzle so customers couldn't use it, and perhaps also shut off the pump? Instead, they left a defective pump free for customers to use it, and in so doing created a fire hazard. Which is why I reported the gas station fire hazard to the Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department.

I was just wanting something to snack on and looked for the gas station that was near by that was open and it said Meijer is oprn "24hrs" so I drove there and the lights were on so I went up to the door and got someones attention because the door was locked and the lights were still on so I'd thought they'd still be open because there website said "24hrs" and the lady comes out with an attitude and says don't you see the sign were closed I mean she could've had a better attitude than that like are you serious I mean like I said I get it u wanna go home but no matter what time of day u should never speak to someone like that like people in the healthcare are working till the next day and they don't have an attitude like that so please show people better respect no matter what and change ur hours if ur not gonna be open that long u shouldn't have people drive that far just to get told that ur not open
