Today I arrived at 11:20 to be on for 11:30. He pulled up to the St. Gabriel side right at 11:30. This is very inconvenient and inconsiderate. Many people in line waiting turned around and left. For the past month this has been the case. People rely this ferry and need consistency. Im so PISSED right now!

We arrived at 3:09 at the office/gift shop to purchase tickets and hopefully walk around the garden while awaiting our tour. If you don't want to have afternoon tours, don't advertise them!!! Shameful!!!!

Amazing Tour and Museum Experience…read more Houmas Plantation House is an amazing place to visit. We started our day early and had breakfast first. There's a simple American/New Orleans-style breakfast buffet with eggs, sausage, and grits, available from 8-10 a.m. The plantation opens at 9 a.m., and the first house tour starts at 9:30 a.m. The house tour lasts about an hour. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. This was my second time taking the tour, and although the guides were different, they shared the same history in their own unique storytelling styles. Both were engaging and easy to follow. Don't forget to tip the tour guides--they do a great job. After the tour, we walked through the gardens in the morning. It's about a 45-minute stroll at a relaxed pace--walk, rest, and enjoy the scenery. Very peaceful. Later, we went to the Carriage House Restaurant, which has amazing food. The bar is also great--try the Houmas signature drinks, they're delicious. You can enjoy your drink inside or outside, then walk around more or relax. If one person wants to do everything--breakfast, museum and house tour, lunch at the Carriage House, and buy a few souvenirs--expect to spend around $150 or so. Overall, it was a great, peaceful experience, and I highly recommend it.

The person working the desk assured us earlier in the day, TWICE that they were open until 5. Their sign posted 5PM. We arrived at 4:30 and it was a ghost town! There were no cabs in the town, and there is no rental car service like many other small community airports have. The Enterprise in the town came and picked us up...BUT they didn't have the inexpensive car we reserved online...They only had larger full size cars or trucks. ALL were more expensive and they refused to give them to us at our price reserved!! When we tried to fill our plane with fuel to leave, the person in front of us had problems with the credit card reader. The man working there took his sweet time to help!! We ended up leaving almost 1.5 hours later than planned. Overall, the man working there is rude, non-hlepful, and in all reality, LIES. He promises he'll be there, but isn't. DON'T be fooled by the low fuel prices!! Fly into Hammond or somewhere else....it isn't worth the fuel....
