Then I received a super scary letter from the IRS about a very large amount of money that I supposedly owed from 2011. And by the time I actually got around to opening the letter, (yeah it's been one of those years) the deadline was in three days. And it was Sunday. I called Miriam first thing Monday morning. She told me to come on in, no problem. She was calm, friendly, and instantly made me feel like it was all going to be ok. She finished all of my 2012 taxes in just a couple hours, navigating easily through what I would consider one tricky circumstance after another. I had expected to potentially owe money this year, but instead she found me a substantial refund! She solved the issue with 2011 the next day, filing an amended return to meet the deadline, despite the fact that she was booked that entire day! I imagine she must have worked a lot of overtime to help me out, it was so above and beyond, I was amazed. And for all of this she charged me a very reasonable fee, with no additional cost for the rush job. She figured out that I didn't actually owe anything, in fact she got me an additional refund! I can't say enough good things about my experience, basically Miriam took away all my stress and left me with a whole lot more money! Bottom line- I will never do my own taxes again, I will be going back to Miriam forever.

This year; however was different (in a bad way) and the only variable is that fact there is someone new working with him on our return. He submitted an invoice for an astronomical price...for the same type of return every year. He said it was because of increased computation fees and one out of state W2. Without going into detail, I will say our professional relationship ended today on a sour note due to tax preparation greed. When I questioned the charges and his reasoning/motives, he dropped us as clients. He then threatened to send us to collection, involve his lawyer and counter sue us if we sued him. We've already decided not to use his services anymore because of the discrepancy. Prior to this experience, we never had any issues with him but he has changed. As I've said, he was always solo and never shown such contempt but today he was in rare form and sadly I saw the true character of this once good guy. He NEVER told me he billed by the hour UNTIL I disputed those unscrupulous charges. This year was the first time hearing this $175 per hr rate.
