I was staying at the hotel located on top of the restaurant so it seemed like an obvious choice to try the pizza restaurant with a sign out front that they specialize in truffle. It was, however, a wrong choice. The place wasn't lacking in customers as it appeared to be the only true casual dining local spot in the small village of Acqualagna. We also noticed after a while that the seating of patrons in the restuarant appeared to be split in the middle-one half for the local teens and families with small kids and the other half of the restaurant for adults. My sister and I were seated in between two large tables of pre-teens. If you're a visitor in Acqualagna, you're there for the truffles. So obviously, we ordered a dish of their highly recommended tagliatelle pasta topped with black truffle. It wasn't good. The pasta noodles were hard almost as if they weren't cooked long enough and the truffle wasn't good either-alike it was old. After only taking a few bites we put in an order for one of their Naples style pizza-the prosciutto crudo pizza. It took a LONG time for the pizza to come out. Tables of locals that ordered after us received their pizzas before us. We were almost about to tell them to cancel the order just when they brought it. The pizza was definitely better than the pasta dish but even it wasn't amazing pizza...and when you're in Italy you should be eating amazing pizza and not wasting your time on mediocre pizza. We went here to pick up three pizzas after a tip from a local. The service was very friendly, and the pizzas are made from good ingredients in a wood-fire oven in the very thin Italian style. The end result was very good. While the people are friendly, the place is a bit bland. Large room with sharp lighting and little decor. read more
