I AM COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY DISAPPOINTED AND DISGUSTED OF THE "COSTUMER SERVICE" THIS PLACE GAVE. TO EVEN CALL IT SERVICE WOULD BE A LIE BECAUSE THEY HELPED WITH NOTHING WHATSOEVER. I WOULDN'T EVEN RECOMMEND THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX TO THE DEVIL HIMSELF THATS HOW TERRIBLE EVERYTHING WAS. IF I COULD GIVE 0 STARS I WOULD. THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX PRACTICALLY LEFT ME HOMELESS FROM THE TIME OF MY MOVE IN DATE. HAD I NOT HAD FAMILY OR EXTRA MONEY SAVED WHO KNOWS WHAT ANYONE WOULD'VE DONE IN THAT CIRCUMSTANCE. It all started On Saturday, February 1, 2025, I paid a $652.25 money order to Rise Oak Creek Apartments to move into Unit #1. However, upon arrival, I found the apartment in unlivable conditions. Due to the state of the unit, I immediately returned the keys the same day and informed the property manager, Rebecca Barnes, and Angelo Rosas (leasing associate who initially helped me) of the issues. Mrs. Barnes and Mr. Rosas offered me two options:
1. Move into another unit AT AN ADDITIONAL COST, or
2. Wait several days/weeks for repairs on Unit #1, despite the fact that I had already paid for the month AND I HAD ALREADY MOVED OUT MY PREVIOUS APARTMENT WITH NO CURRENT PLACE TO LIVE. I told them I needed time to consider my options. By Monday morning, February 3, 2025, I decided to decline their offer and I requested a refund of my money order/deposit. Since it was their fault for NOT having a renovated unit after guaranteeing it was "move in ready" AT THE VERY LEAST they could've had it cleaned once we moved in. However, Mrs. Barnes denied my request, stating that because I signed the lease, I was contractually obligated to stay. She further stated that if I attempted to break the lease, I could be charged TWICE THE RENT as a penalty. I HADN'T EVEN MOVED MY BELONGINGS INTO THE UNIT YET THEY STILL EXPECTED ME TO STILL MOVE IN THIS UNINHABITABLE UNIT WITH ROACHES, MOLD, ROTTING WOOD, AND ETC. Shortly after, I received a $1,073.68 "reletting fee" notice, which was immediately sent to collections, potentially damaging my housing and credit record.
This situation has caused me significant financial hardship. Due to the unlivable conditions of Unit #1, I had to:
* Extend a U-Haul rental for nearly triple the originally planned duration,
* Rent a storage unit, as I no longer had a place for my belongings
* Pay $300 cancellation fee to our power company
It is unfortunate that it has resulted to this however, I am now forced to seek legal action against this apartment complex in order to recover my deposit, seek compensation for all additional expenses, have any collections debt removed from my record and to expose this apartment complex for their fraudulent activities. read more
