On the face of it Rise Credit seems to be no different, no better and no worse than any payday loan company. On the face of it. The bad news is that it's true, on the face of it. The interest rates are alarmingly high. On the other hand I've always defended payday loan companies on the basis that if you pay it off right away it's not really interest, it's a one-time fee. The good news is that Rise credit tells you exactly what it's going to cost and that you shouldn't use their service for long-term financial aid, but only for extreme emergencies. They also offer a choice of twice-weekly payments or monthly payments. Being on a fixed pension, I chose monthly. It was to be spread out over four payments, each due at the first of the month, and the total interest if I left it at that would have been 50%. I would have chosen another way if there was any bank that would give me a loan, but I only needed $200 and no one would give me that except Rise. When the first payment was due I had sorted out my problems, so I made the decision to pay it all at once, thereby reducing the interest. To my surprise Rise not only said that was fine, but they actually encouraged it. So I checked the website and found that with a single payment the interest would be twelve dollars, or 6%! This was very much to my liking, so I've borrowed from them one more time. If you need a long-term loan, go to a bank. If you need some cash to get you through your next payday, and if you're sure you'll pay it off right away, Rise Credit is the way to go. read more

They are very clear up front about the high interest rates and caution that their loans should be used as a short term solution (there are no pre-payment penalties for paying early). My sister was in a bind and when she received a"pre-screened" offer in the mail from them she thought it was too good to be true. They were offering her up to $2600k. After doing some research for her, I found that: 1. The company was legit. 2. There application process (online) appeared simple. 3. Unlike other payday loan companies, they stretch the payments out over a longer period of time (with high interest of course) so that you do not have to give over your entire paycheck, instead you just make payments each pay period. They also provide loans to Self-Employed and state that employment is not a requirement, you just need a source of income. So my sister ended up applying (not getting her hopes up) and she was approved in a day and the money was wired into her account the next day. She didn't even need to provide any paperwork, she just completed the online application (Rise told her if everything is confirmed electronically they don't need any paperwork, which they didn't in her case). I took a loan for $3000 at a 200% something interest rate but i needed it as soon as possible for a rental i needed to finish remodeling appliances, floor, and a kitchen counter. This was the only place i got approved. Paid it back only making 3 $296 payments and a payoff of $3264 which i just paid off last month if it was not for this loan my rental would still be unoccupied of course the interest is ridiculous but my credit is bad due to my credit cards being maxed out (thanks to my rental). Thanks to this loan i have additional $1100 extra income and am now able to pay down my credit cards. had the money the next morning once approved in my account but it takes a lot of verification send this send that but so glad it worked. This is not for people who can't pay off loans within a month or two because only about $7-$26 goes to the principal. Needed a loan ASAP to pay my car repairs so I tried Rise Credit. Was approved right away for a 2600.00 loan. My number one thing is make sure how much your interest will be because there rate is outrageous. I was paying my loan bi-weekly which was 229.00. After making a payment then subtracting my interest I was only paying 6.00 dollars every two weeks. After three months of being robbed I finally came up with the money that I was saving and I finally paid it off which came out to be 2748.00 because due to interest. which really I paid more due to the fact I was making my bi weekly payment and only being charge 6 dollars for it. I did read other people reviews before I apply for the loan but I did it anyway which I regret. Today date is July 22 2014 and I feel really relieve by paying them off. I did read somebody saying that in order for you to lower the interest rate is to make sure on your first payment making a large payment on it, which I agree 100%. Initially the loan fees and overall cost of borrowing is outrageous. But, if you pay your loan off early you can drastically reduce the amount of interest that you pay overall. I saved about $200 on my last loan by paying early. Also the more you use rise the more points you can earn. Eventually you can get loans with a 50% off discount which is actually pretty decent for short term loans. They offer financial tips and tell you your credit score for free. The amount you can borrow is higher than the average payday loan too. For people who have bad credit and can't get traditional loans this good. I think rise is great as long as you use it responsibly. read more

RISE is a fantastic short term solution when you are strapped for cash...so much better than the check cashing stores, or other short term lenders. One lender wanted me to secure a loan (that was less than the RISE loan) with signing the pink slip over to them on my Jeep...not happening! The application and approval processes couldn't be easier...and in most instances, the funds are in your bank account the very next day. They even make the repayment process hassle free and reward you, with lower interest rates, for making more than the minimum due, or paying off the loan early.
