Was approved for $3000 but only really needed about half of it, so I did just that and paid it off a few months quicker than if I had used all the funds. I received a letter from this company in the mail. Based on the literature and marketing I thought I would be dealing with a more socially responsible credit company until I read the fine print and checked the website. The gave an example of 75%. On their site, they mention you can choose a payment for up to a 5 year loan. The payments are Bi-weekly which is either twice a week or twice a month depending on how you interpret it. Yes, of course I knew the interest was INSANE. For my $2600 loan, this company got that back, plus $5000 in profit. My issue is what they've done with me since then. First of all, they stopped reporting to the credit bureau (Transunion). I never missed a payment, and even paid off the loan one month early. But they stopped reporting to the bureau a good 5 months prior to my loan's last payment. So I have this balance showing on my report that is that is just sitting there. That doesn't help me out at all. Showing the installment loan paid off in full would improve my credit score. Help it RISE, as they say in the ads. Calls to RISE are unhelpful, as they simply me give me email addresses to use. Emails are then ignored. Ironically, had I missed ANY payments or defaulted on the loan, RISE would be all over it in regards to reporting to the credit bureau EVERY MONTH. Very shady 'company'. read more

It is 4:15 am in SCarolina right now, but still there is no 24 hr service like many of the others and all of their links go straight to an "oops" screen claiming maintenance...for over a dang month???? I had some unexpected bills come up one month and as my credit wasn't good enough to go to a traditional lender I went to Rise for a loan. The signup was quick and they made their fees very clear up front as well as the interest percentage. I was approved same day and the money was in my account the next business day. Their customer service has been able to resolve everything I have called about on the first call and the people overall are friendly and competent. I also like that they do a payment on every payday to help pay off your loan quicker, instead of once a month to drag it out for a year or more. That said. My current interest is 80% on an $800 loan which is 10% higher than what was initially advertised (though that is probably due to my credit score, they just advertise the lowest possible). I understand that they are trying to make back their money due to the high rate of default, but 80% seems excessive when most loans of this kind are usually only 70%. Also as others have suggested they are out for a profit not to help you. So any time you get into a situation where you might hit a fee, instead of alerting you to prevent it they call you after it happens to resolve the issue and collect their money. Pretty scummy as every other financial institution I have worked with usually calls to get everything sorted out before hitting you with a fee. read more

RUN! I have been receiving loans from Rise for about 2 years now. I've taken them out and paid them off pretty fast. This last time a paper check was issued to them on my behalf by a third party. The check was signed for on the 10th and nothing posted to my account. I called numerous times and was told the check was never received. Odd.. it was signed for by a receptionist so why not ask them where they put it?? A few days later the story changed. The check was found but your number (the same number we call you on when you're late on a payment) wasn't working so we went ahead and returned it to sender, knowing that I had called numerous times. I was told the check had no loan information so they weren't sure what to do with it. Then the story was the check was returned because my phone number was incorrect. When the 3rd party called on my behalf they were told the check was mailed back to them days ago. $500 deducted from my account and countless days of interest later the check had been cashed. When calling to confront them the supervisor was just ignorant. He kept saying the check was mailed yet they can't provide me with tracking information or any information cuz there's nothing in the system. Do yourself a favor and don't bother. I was a real idiot. I should have gone to my local bank and tried for a loan there. Because my credit isn't great, I assumed (yes, I know all about that word) my bank wouldn't give me a debt--consolidation loan. So, when I saw Rise advertised on TV, I thought it wouldn't hurt to check them out. Having already tried several other loan places I'd seen advertised, I knew that most of them required high payments - one even charged interest-only every month, and to pay off the premium, you had to pay above that. Anyway, being used to high interest rates because my credit isn't in the 700's, I accepted that, read all the information presented, didn't see anything which raised bells, and applied - and was granted - a loan for $5K. Imagine my surprise Saturday when I got a notice saying a payment was coming due on July 1st. I pretty much freaked out, because I was under the assumption that payment would only come due on the 16th of each month and for an amount which was less than the bills I wanted to pay off. I just got off the phone with the ever-so-lovely (gag) people at Rise. First, I had to wait for five minutes on hold; then I was given to a drone named Jenny. I told her my problem and that I couldn't afford to make two payments a month. She informed me that payment followed your paychecks (in my case, support checks), and that she couldnt do anything to modify the loan. I wasn't trying to get out of it, only trying to work something out where I could pay monthly. I didn't even care if I paid them an even more exorbitant profit than they were already getting. When I asked her who I needed to speak to in order to modify the loan, she informed me (and "informed" is the right word - she was about as personable and welcoming as I imagine a case of jock itch must be for men) that NOBODY could modify the loan. I told her I was filing suit and hung up. Of course, now I can't afford to file suit, even with the self-help centers now available in the courts, nor would I know if I had any grounds. I think their rates must be just below what the law considers usurious, although I'm going to check on that. The upshot is that I don't remember reading anything aboutt that, and I also don't remember seeing anything about twice-monthly payments in the payment schedule. Otherwise, I never would have applied for a loan. The icing on the cake is that I can't find anything other than the deposit notification in my email. I do believe I'm screwed. To make matters worse, I didn't need the money - I was just trying to only have to keep track of one payment instead of many and save some money each month. The upshot - or moral, if you wish - of this story is: DO NOT ASSUME ANYTHING AND TRY YOUR LOCAL BANK FIRST. Now I'm paying $350 a month more than I was paying when I was just paying my bills the old-fashioned way - one at a time. The only consolation is that I have a terminal illness, and I'll be dead long before the loan is paid off. Stay away from these people and everyone like them. I am the VICTIM of a fraudulent $5000 loan that RISE approved. They were no help for the first 3-4 calls to them as they didn't believe me. Finally I got someone that was reasonable. And was able to get them to look into it. Like someone else posted, they directed me to the FTC and file a police report, then email all that to them and pass it on to the credit agencies. I did get someone ar RISE to pass on to me a "copy" of the info that was used to get the loan. Other than my phone number, SSN and name, there was NOTHING correct on the application. Wrong DOB, address, employer and income. The email address given was even someone else's name and when I Googled the .com listed, first thing that came up was SCAM!!!! According to their Attorney Kathleen Carress, they have a "State of the Art" proprietary system to detect fraudulent applications. I asked he how this could be with so much INCORRECT info on the app and she said she couldn't discuss it due to it being proprietary. By them approving this loan, it killed my credit score and took me about 6 months to get my score at least near where it was. To Kathleen Carress, I say BULLS#!T! Don't do it. This is truly a scam or at least an expensive mistake. To start with when I first applied I guessed at my pay dates. I get paid biweekly and I looked at the calendar wrong. I figured no big deal right? If I get approved I will change the correct draft date. Big mistake. They only will do the draft on the original date you put in your original application. Before I signed I requested it be changed. They said no problem that the loan has to be started first. After I signed for the incredibly high interest rate loan, they REFUSED TO CHANGE THE DRAFT DATE. It was obviously an Asian Call Center with guys named Susan, people barely speaking English. I requested to talk to managers and anyone in charge. I even requested to speak to someone in the US. They required me to go online or call in every two weeks to EXTEND my payment date. I called 12/26 to get a payoff amount and extend the payment date, but they said since the payment was posted on 12/22 I had to wait until Wednesday or Thursday to change the date. With everything going on that week, I forgot to extend the payment date for 12/29 and guess what, they drafted my account. Now I have other drafts and payments bouncing everywhere and all the overdraft fees. The interest rate for the life of the loan with all payments is 199% (yes 199%) I didn't do the math so, not a lot of the biweekly payments were going to the principle. That and the several NSF fees from my bank make this a very costly mistake. I would NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE use this service or any others like it. read more
