The vibrant colors makes you forget just how cold it is on a winter day. You can buy fresh flowers, seeds, bulbs, and stuff for your garden. There are souvenir shops and restaurants across this flower market. As much as I would have loved to grab something from here to take home, it would've gotten confiscated at the airport anyway and even if we're allowed to bring seeds and bulbs back home, there's no way it would survive Vegas heat. But it was nice to look around and see the beautiful flowers. It is "the world's only floating flower market" on the canals of Amsterdam. It's a free activity until you buy something.

I ended up getting some gifts for family/friends. The area could get a little crowded, and next to the flower markets there are also a lot of separate tourist/gift stores. There is a lot of wool and white/beige, in the clothing but also on the floors with carpets and blankets. I saw some very nice dresses and a very cute little jacket made from an indian fabric with beads on it. Too bad it was 200 euros :) Yes, this place is pricey, but still it is worth a look. It feels very inspiring and there are also things that are more affordable. And well, 200 euros is a lot but maybe if you really fall in love with something it is worth it? I know I fell in love with the hanging birdcage chair. It was 2000 euros though ;) so that is not really an option for me haha.

I mentioned this to the owner and he said, which I agree, that part of the charm of Amsterdam is there are so many things here that you are constantly stumbling upon amazing shops and more every time you walk down the street. He couldn't be more right. The shop itself is so unique. I knew immediately that I would love it here. The items were cool and not like anything else I'd find while shopping. It's definitely not a tourist shop; it's not a t-shirt or postcard sort of place, but it features really cool home decor items from suspended butterflies to really cool metal displays. I knew immediately I'd find so many things I'd love and couldn't bring back to the states with me because I'd have no room and I was right, but I did find some cool metal keys to bring with me to decorate in my living room. I asked the owner if they had a story to them and he replied, "everything has a story" and that was good enough for me.

I was walking around in this awesome street and…read moresuddenly there was this super cute little shop that sells woman's clothing, kids clothing, jewelry and other cute stuff. They also sell the lovely brand Sugarhill boutique, a brand that I love; it has the cutest dresses, tops and sweaters, often with little animal prints on them! This little shop is filled with so much stuff so it is really great for a little treasure hunt! The prices are very high but not very cheap either so I did not buy anything yesterday (students budget!) but I will certainly be back in the future when I have more to spend! :)
