I took private lessons at Rio Samba Dancer. Helio is a great teacher. He's funny and friendly. It's easy to relax, and learn in that vibe. He invited me to a feijoada one Saturday afternoon. It was one of the highlights of my trip in Rio. The food was good, the venue was beautiful, and there was several awesome bands playing samba and forro. It was fun to go out and test what I learned. Stumbled upon this using tripadvisor --- but figured we'd get some steam rolling with YELP in brazil! Helio's class is great --- we had about 10 of us (we went as a trio and joined others). The class was fun, relaxed, and comfortable! The hour went by quickly --- Helio speaks perfect English and is really funny. His teaching style is great --- you pick up the moves very quickly! Wished we could have joined in on the club dancing (another option). The location is somewhat tough to find (address is spot on, but it's in the back of a clothing store).
