I went with my family and fiancé because we happened to be passing by and it definitely did not disappoint! My sister is more into antiques than I am so I know she enjoyed the experience. I like looking at all of the old items, it gives you a glimpse of what life was like back in the day! Most antique stores are pretty stuffy inside. Granddaddy's was no different but they do have a bunch of fans scattered around the store to help with airflow. I think with antiques you just have to figure it will come with a musty scent to it. Overall enjoyed the experience walking around looking at everything. My fiancé even ended up finding a collectible car for his favorite race car driver! The flea market is open Friday-Sunday. We went on a Friday afternoon. There were only a few vendors open. Evidentially they get very few customers on Friday so some of the vendors use the time to put out merchandise or prepare for the weekend where others simply do not open. So I was disappointed in that I was unable to see everything. Maybe the next time I get time off I will check them out on a Saturday or Sunday.

I found myself in Danville, Virginia on Jan. 1, and I figured that nothing - least of all a good antique store - would be open. How wrong I was. I doddled in Lou's Antique Mall for over an hour, agog at his collection. This is one of the few places I've found with a real selection of furniture ranging from primitives to Empire, Victorian to Art Deco. Of course, every antique store is a crap-shoot and you may go in there and find nothing ... but I had no trouble picking out a half-dozen pieces that I'd happily have in my home. The proprietors were friendly and eager to help. This place is definitely on my "to visit" A-list!

I enjoyed seeing pieces of Hindu and African symbolism scattered among antiques, art and knickknacks. Vendor prices were very reasonable. Staff members were approachable and never seemed like they were looming over us or pushing for a sale. I saw a lot less "junk" than I usually do. I caught myself drawn to several items and could have easily bought a few if I hadn't convinced myself that they would be impulse buys. A great place to look if you want to give your living room, man cave or other personal space a boost! I will definitely return when I have more time to consider purchases!

I found a…read morebeautiful large tote bag/handbag, a set of 4 vintage grape patterned nesting bowls with lids, a gorgeous ceramic bunny rabbit, a vintage tube cake pan like my mother had, three pair of earrings, a lovely cheese dome with a very unusual shape, a stylish and somewhat shabby chic hanging jewelry hanger for earrings and necklaces, a yellowware bowl and a vintage usa bowl, probably circa 1900's. What a haul! and all for less than 100 bucks! I will be returning again soon! Love this place!
