I've been pushing 19 hour shifts I wAs tired and made a simple mistake! He did his job to make sure that I wasn't a criminal, looked in the vehicle, was respectful and once realize there was no crime or threat wished me a wonderful evening and went back to looking for real criminals!!! So awesome!!! I wish I remember his name but it's nice to know there may be a few, I'm hoping savannah has much more cops like that officer rather than port Wentworth!!! I simply forgot and told the I would take care of it the next business day, which Monday. Shortly, 10 minutes had passed after giving the officer my drivers license while he did his research and another officer showed up, he approached my car stating that he had smelled alcohol coming from my. I assured him that I did not have any alcohol as I did have food that I had just got from Carrie Hilliard and maybe that's he was smelling. He told me that he was very sure that it was alcohol that he smelled in my car. Did a field sobriety test and they tried to pin me with a DUI after a 0.0 result showed up on the breath analyzer they tried to stuck me with a under the influence of drugs DUI which was nonsense. This police dept is filled with nothing but bully poor excuse of officers that do nothing all day but intimidate taxpayers. After all these years I must say it is one of the most professional law enforcement organizations I have had the pleasure of dealing with. Some positive notes: They always address you respectfully. They use "Sir" A LOT! For example when I hear things like: "Sir, get down from there.", "Sir, keep your hands where I can see them", "Sir, I WILL TASE!", or one of my favs, "Sir, Sir, how much have you had to drink? Do you know what day it is?", I know I'm dealing with professionals. If you spit at them they never spit back, but their language towards you might get a little salty. Nothing a little sensitivity training on their part won't fix. The cars are immaculate. I must have vomited and/or voided various bodily fluids in the back of one particular officer's car 3 times in one month. Each time I was put in the back afterward it was spotless. Not a speck on the seats. Once they were called to do a "Welfare Check" on me after a crazy 5 day meth binge. Not one shamed me for my lack of housekeeping. Some sticking points: A couple of times they put the cuffs on too tight, but hey, heat of the moment, right? They are overly concerned with my personal life. Always stopping me. Saying things like, "Mr. Z. where are you going at this hour?" "Is that your bike?", "Been looking in any apartment windows tonight? Because you fit the description." The worst is that they are always asking about my drinking habits. Always stopping me for no reason just to ask if I've been drinking, how much, etcetera. They can be busy bodies sometimes. But, overall a good group of people.
