Let me also say that I had never met her before. I was in town for one day and the stars aligned for us to meet. I needed my hair blown out and she just happened to have an opening when I needed it. When I arrived, Annie was incredibly gracious and friendly and took me back immediately. Even though I arrived 10 minutes early! The treatment itself was heavenly and it was clear that she really knows her stuff. She explained to me in great detail how to treat my type of hair (Wavy 2A) and what products I would benefit the most from using. All in all, I couldn't have been more impressed with my experience at Hairscape. Annie's experience, professionalism, and business skills are far beyond what I was expecting and I can't recommend her enough if you're looking for that person who treats you more than just another client. Sometimes you meet someone that feels so familiar even though you've never met before and this was one of those times for me. I anticipate being back in town fairly regularly and I will always make time to come in for a service. If I could give Annie and her staff more than 5 stars, I would. Even though her staff were busy working with other clients, they all took the time to say hello and one staff member even explained some products to me when I was checking out. I made my appointment for a Saturday and slept in past my alarm... great first impression. I was late and so nervous to meet with my new stylist, Michelle. She looked past my tardiness and listened to my every concern. I'm thinking I may have found "the one" for my hair. After we spoke about what I wanted, the first question she asked is "what's your budget?". I was taken aback by the question because it was so thoughtful and real of her to ask. I knew what I could afford and she was willing to work within my budget. She was easy to get along with; the conversation didn't feel forced or routine. It was natural. The salon itself is beautiful. It's clean with high industrial type ceilings. The walls aren't cluttered and the shelving tastefully displays their products in a non-in-your-face kind of way. The end result made my eyes tear up! I haven't felt proud of my hair in a really long time. It would usually take 3-4 weeks after a salon trip that I'd finally start to like my hair again. The colour would be washing out, the cut slowing growing into something less blunt and choppy. This time, I left the salon SO HAPPY. I don't want my hair to grow out or the colour to fade. I absolutely adore everything Michelle did to make me love my locks again. Seriously 10/10. Not once did I feel like she was trying to sell her products or line to me, not once did I feel ripped off or overcharged. Above all of this, Michelle took the time to answer all my questions and really explain to me how I can style my hair on a day to day basis. BD North is a rare salon where customer service and education are a top priority. Jen will always be my #1 stylist but her team is so incredibly talented if she can't fit me in I would happily go to any one of them. My most recent appointment was Wednesday, November 1st, 2017 when I went in for the big CHOP. It is something Jen and I have been talking about and planning for the last year. My hair went from close to my bum to just past my shoulders and turned out better than I could have hoped. That is the kind of service and talent you get when you go to BD North.

I think this might be the worst haircut I've ever had and it makes me want to cry every time I think about the fact that I'll have to wait months for it to grow out. I asked for a simple trim, to add some layers and to trim my front pieces to about my lips, so that I could still put my hair up in a pony tail. I even showed reference pictures. I left with curtain bangs up to my eyes and the messy layers that go from way too short to long without any layers in between. When she cut my bangs, she didn't even double check with me about the length, she just made the cut. Now I'm stuck with bangs I absolutely didn't ask for. The hairstylist was very nice but I am so disappointed with my haircut and feel sick to my stomach every time I see my new hair. My hair takes a long time to grow, especially at the front of my head, so now I'll be stuck with bangs I didn't ask and may need to cut my long hair that I love having in order to fix these terrible layers. I would give anything to go back in time and make sure I was even more clear about what I wanted.

Marilyn from beginning to end is professional friendly understanding VERY precise with her cuts. My experience with her is she has washed blow dry my hair, cut, styled, foiled and that is low lights AND high-lights I've gone totally dark hai over the years (much to her grimace) but she's put up with my requests and been very patient and supportive. My husband called and requested a refund due to being sold gift cards that are now not usable and was refused. Terrible ethics and service- stay away.
