I was pleasantly surprised - the hotel looked very new and was nicely furnished with modern amenities. The bedding was extra comfy and we had a very nice fridge and satellite TV. The shower was stand-up only; no bathtub. There was also free wireless, which I did not use. The front desk (owners?) were very friendly and had a lot of helpful info about the area; specifically what restaurants were open. I would not use this as home base if you are skiing in Telluride as it might be a long scary(!) drive in the winter but for one summer evening, it was just fine. Especially when you consider a similar room in town would cost 3 times as much.

We understand it's a historic building, but the room did get warm. The hotel recommends opening the windows, but we were surprised they didn't have screens, so that wasn't an ideal solution. Parking is free, but there isn't a dedicated hotel parking lot. You'll need to park on a designated nearby block. The hotel does have a convenient unloading area in front, which made getting our luggage in and out much easier. One thing that was a little confusing when we arrived is that there are three separate entrances--one for the restaurant, one for the hotel, and one for the rooftop bar. We also found it a bit unusual that you walk through the restaurant to reach the hotel hostess/check-in area, but everyone was very friendly and happy to help. We also appreciated the complimentary coffee in the morning, which was a nice touch before heading out for the day. Overall, it's a charming historic hotel with an unbeatable location, friendly staff, and a pet-friendly atmosphere. If you don't mind the lack of air conditioning and a few quirks that come with an older building, it's a great place to stay in Telluride.

The property is right next to other buildings. Friendly staff. Relatively small rooms. Great water pressure in the shower. Excellent quality linens and towels. Make sure to ask for a good room. A/C was rattling in mine. Moved to different room where a "pulsating" central HVAC system woke me up repeatedly. The building needs some soundproofing perhaps. Valet parking only.

Alice, and John were fantastic as well. But all the staff are fantastic! This year especially. We've been several times and this was by far our favorite staff experience. Soaking under the stars in the hot springs is incredible as are the communal dinners. The road to get here can be a bit bumpy but once you arrive you quickly see it was all very well worth it. I cannot say enough about how kind and helpful the staff were in helping us get cell service and internet and a comfortable place to wait the hours it took to get a tow truck and taxi service from the rental company. They researched ways to fix our car and provided information to help us find a way to get to Durango. They went FAR, FAR out of their way to help two people who weren't even staying with them. I can only imagine how they take care of their guests. The property is rich in natural beauty, and we hope to be able to actually stay here one day. We know we'll be in the kindest and most considerate of hands when we do.

You could stack all four together and your head would sink down to the mattress. By the time we checked out on day 3, I was absolutely exhausted. We went to our next hotel, an IHG about 3 hrs away, Pillowtopped mattress and a soft and firm pillow waited for me. I took a two hour nap there! Holy cow Hampton. I hope my next experience with you is better or it will be more last.
